I used PopupControl Extender to display row details from a gridview, and need to update the two textboxes, but the changed value in the textboxes did not get picked up when click the update button on the popup window, so I need to get client side javascript to read the new changed value from these text boxes. However, I tried a few way, none worked for me, not sure what is wrong.
1. Add a javascript function in the .aspx file and use onclientclick of the linkbutton control to call the function, I got error of "Microsoft JScript runtime error: Object required".
<script language="javascript" type="text/javascript">
function newTextValue(textbox)
{
var text = document.getElementById("TextBox1").Value;
alert(text);
}
</script)
<asp:TextBox ID="TextBox1" runat="server" Text='<%# Bind("GalleryTemplateName") %>' Height="20px" Width="230px"
style="text-align: left"></asp:TextBox>
<asp:LinkButton ID="LinkButton2" runat="server" Font-Bold="True" CommandArgument='<%# Eval("GalleryTemplateId") %>'
oncommand="LinkButton2_Click" OnClientClick="newTextValue(this)" >Update</asp:LinkButton>
2. Use ScriptManager.RegisterClientScriptBlock in the aspx.cs file, :
ScriptManager.RegisterClientScriptBlock(this, this.GetType(), "changevalue", "alert(document.getElementById('TextBox1').value);", true);
but the alert window did not showup, that means the client javascript did not run? I just use an alert window to test to see if the textbox value is picked up. Note, I used Ajax Toolkit PopupControl Extender, all codes are in an update panel.
In one my ASP.NET web page, I have used a Grid and embedded a the Delete buttons inside the Grid as follows:
<ItemTemplate>
<asp:LinkButton ID="DeleteBtn" CssClass="btn green" CommandArgument='<%#Eval("id") %>' CommandName="delete" ToolTip="Delete" Text="Delete"
runat="server" />
</ItemTemplate>
I tried to use a Confirm extender on this Delete button but on running it says "TargetControlId" not found for the cofirm extender. However, the confirm extender works fine of the button is outside the grid. Is there anyway I can apply the confirm extender to the button inside the Grid?
I am using a CSS button as
<a href="" class="btn green" title="Delete" OnServerClick="MyCodeBehindFunction">Delete </a>
Previously, I was using a button control instead of CSS button and using AJAX confirm extender before deleting. But how do I ask for this confirm action in < a href=""> now?
I want confirm button extender to pop up when Particular TextBox is empty.
View 1 RepliesI have button, which fires an event, that deletes a record from the database. This is the source of the button:

I have a long-running WCF service that I need to call, but I would like to do is to open modal window (modal popup extender) that simply shows progress and stops the user from interacting on the page until the service returns. What I was trying to do was the following:
1. Click button to activate the process which calls a method in my code-behind.
2. This method opens my modal panel with some pretty animation.
3. I call my WCF service asychronously so that the UI will refresh.
4. Service ends which calls my delegate I setup.
5. My delegate method would then refresh the page with results, and dismiss the model popup.

View 4 RepliesI have fought a bizarre situation for days. Anytime a certain listview loaded the page went into an infinite loop of reloading. I was finally put the listview on a page with nothing else to see if I could isolate the issue.Even with only the folowing code, it continually looped on load even though it brought in the correct data every time.

I am using ASP.NET 2.0 with VB. In design view of grid, i have one textbox in its template field. I also have one Ajax Calender Extender and FilteredTextBox Extender. I have set target controlId of both calender and filteredtextbox extender equal to that textbox. Now dynamically i dispose one of the extender from that textbox. everything works ok. But once my page reloads it takes the original design image, means both extenders are being set to that textbox.
View 1 RepliesI have this slideshow extender that works perfectly with hard coded images in the page method. However as soon as I try to make the page method get its images from the database it stops working; no images are returned.
I have tried to declare the datatable that the pagemethod uses both inside the pagemethod and in the on_load event. When in the last case I test the datatable contents by hooking it up to a gridview, it shows that it does get its proper data.
Declaring this dataTable as a private static dataTable, outside the page_load, to make it accessible in the page method (like in this --- post http://forums.asp.net/p/1115257/1726736.aspx---) also does not work.
So the page method with hard coded images works and also the query to the database works!

View 2 RepliesI have a submit button that when I click it, I need it to run a script first prior to loading he ConfirmButtonExtender. Can I change the TargetControlID to a sub or a function and after that function is executed, then call ConfirmButtonExtender, or attach it so when the second function is called, it will pop the dialog box up first and then run if OK is clicked.
