AJAX :: Another Post Of Autocomplete Not Working / Checked And Tested Other?
Jul 21, 2010
I have spent the last 6 hours trying to solve this problem, my Autocomplete textbox isn't working for a reason I am not aware of. I have tried using relative paths, I have tried using dummy data (as in the code below) and I have accessed and invoked the webservice directly from the browser with no issues. However, the typing in the textbox just won't trigger the webservice.
In theory, my textbox should have an autocomplete dropdown containing 3 instances of the word "test". In practice, I can type anything I want into the textbox and nothing happens.
I've set up a textbox with autocomplete, it works fine when i run is in visual studio, but when I deploy it to iis, the list items just do not appear.I think it has something to do with the fact that I'm using clean routes (with asp.net 4 routing).
i have written some code to for a project im working on but the Ajax tool doesnt want to function.... I know the web method works course it gives me my results when i run it but when i run the appliaction the AJAX doesnt fire this is my web service code
[WebMethod] public string[] GetCompletionList(string text) { List<string> al = new List<string>(10); [code]...
i have installed AjaxControlToolkit for framework 3.5 . my application is in virtual folder on the server which has Autocomplete Extender control, when i browse, control is not returning any list nor any error message. it is working fine in the localhost, is it because of the subfolder or any other reason i dont understand
I'm yet another programmer who find out that AJAX autocomplete extender doesn't work although I've searched several pages and saw where the biggest problems occur.I'm using ASP.NET 2.0 and AJAX for the same version. Few months ago I've included modalPopupExtender in to the same project and it's working fine.However with AutoCompleteExtender have no luck..ASPX page:
[Code]....
and web service:
[Code]....
I was using this site for reference:ttp://dotnetslackers.com/Community/blogs/kaushalparik/archive/2008/06/06/autocomplete-textbox-using-ajax-autocompleteextender-from-database.aspxBut when I type something in textbox nothing happenes. However in IE8 I got message that there is script error.
I am using VB 2008 and the ajax tool kit trying to get the autocomplete working. I have been looking at the asp.net video tutorials, but for the life of me - its not. Here is the code:
I can't get AJAX CT Autocomplete to work. The problem is when I start writing in textbox nothing happens. The frist problem I had experienced was when I tried to Add AutoComplete page method I got an error: "Cannot create page method "GetCompletionList"...". Then I tried creating it manually, but still nothing happens.
I am having issues with the autocomplete extender from the toolkit. I am using it to extend a textbox. I added a web service to the project that returns some values as a string().It works if I run it locally on either my development server or my production server, but when I try to run it from another machine the autocomplete box does not popup. I have other ajax extenders running on the page and they are working properly. Is there a security setting I need to set to get the autocomplete extender to work for the IUSR?
In winserver-2008, IIS 7 and .net 3.5 (i have installed AjaxControlToolkit for framework 3.5 )when i create a virtual folder for this application on the server then Autocomplete Extender control is not returning any list nor any error message also.i dont understand how to debug because it is working fine in the localhost
"Microsoft JScript runtime error: Sys.InvalidOperationException: Two components with the same id 'autoCompleteExtenderPopupBehavior' can't be added to the application."
public class WebService : System.Web.Services.WebService { MySql.Data.MySqlClient.MySqlCommand cmd = new MySqlCommand(); MySql.Data.MySqlClient.MySqlConnection con = new MySqlConnection(); //MySqlDataAdapter da = new MySqlDataAdapter(); MySqlDataReader dr; public WebService () { //Uncomment the following line if using designed components //InitializeComponent(); } [WebMethod] public string[] GetCountryInfo(string prefixText) { int count = 10; string sql = "Select * from tbl_patientmaster Where P_NAME like '" + @prefixText + "%'"; con.ConnectionString = System.Configuration.ConfigurationManager.AppSettings["HMSDBConnectionString"].ToString(); con.Open(); MySql.Data.MySqlClient.MySqlDataAdapter da = new MySql.Data.MySqlClient.MySqlDataAdapter(sql, con); da.SelectCommand.Parameters.Add("@prefixText", MySql.Data.MySqlClient.MySqlDbType.VarChar, 50).Value = prefixText + "%"; System.Data.DataTable dt = new System.Data.DataTable(); da.Fill(dt); string[] items = new string[dt.Rows.Count]; int i = 0; foreach (System.Data.DataRow dr in dt.Rows) { items.SetValue(dr["P_NAME"].ToString(), i); i++; } return items; }
I am registering javascript after page post back using ScriptManager.RegisterStartupScript . it used to work previously. Ater there are some chagnes done in the project now it is not working. What might be the reason behind this. now i am unable to register the javascript after post back.
this script works fine but after partial postback again this init function is not working. So i searched in google i found some articles regarding this [URL]
<script type="text/javascript"> function pageLoad() { // Initialization code here, meant to run once. </script>
this works fine when it was postback,but without postback this init function is not working
In the code behind these literals are populated, the form literal holds a couple of fields, the script literal looks like this:
StringBuilder strScript = new StringBuilder(); strScript.Append("<script language='javascript'>"); strScript.Append("var ctlForm = document.forms.namedItem('{0}');"); strScript.Append("ctlForm.submit();"); strScript.Append("</script>"); ctlPostScript.Text = strJS2; //where strJS2 is the string being returned by the stringbuilder
This is executed when a certain button is pressed. The purpose is to redirect to another site.
This works fine as long as no AJAX is used.
However as soon as AJAX is added, in particular as soon as the script manager is added with partial rendering set to TRUE:
then this stops working. The code in the button is still executed, we checked that, the literals get the right text properties. It appears however that the javascript is not executed. Nothing happens, no redirection.
the problem can be overcome by settin the script manager partial rendering to false, however, when this is done, much of the AJAX functionality stops working.
We think it may have to do with registering the script with the script manager. We tried this:
ClientScript.RegisterStartupScript(this.GetType(), "JSScript", strJS2);//done before setting the text property of the literal
But to no avail.
Anybody has seen this before and knows how its done right?
This is what i am trying to do with asp.net updatepanel.i have button and a panel inside my updatepanel. when the button inside the updatepanel gets clicked i want to dynamically add new controls such as LinkButtons to my panel1 without full post back. Now when the dynamically added controls gets clicked it causes a full post pack and also not calling "LinkButton1_Click" event. i am sure i am doing something wrong here.
I am looping through all the posted data on my website and grabbing the values, this will then be used later on. The user is going to put 2 radio buttons on the page, one with a correct answer and one with an incorrect answer. I need to know how to see if a Radio Button is checked or not based on the posted data.
When I tested my ASP.net page on the local host, the time came out exactly right. But when I uploaded everything and tested it out on the internet, it was 3 hours behind -TimeLabel.Text = Now.ToShortTimeString It's 7:44AM here, but it shows up as 4:44AM.
I got a list of checkboxes on my form, and a jquery script that catch a button click to get all the selected items (in an array) and post to a controller action.
This is my script: (yes A, looked at your sample but cannot get this to work)
[Code]....
That alert will print out correctly (like 1,3,5).
However when the above post hit my controller action, "selectedInvestments" are null, which I can't figure out why (back to my tekpub jquery videos, can't go on like this)
$('#' + textboxID).autocomplete({ delay: delay, source: ["cats", "dogs"] }); which works fine. I want to use a webservice: $('#' + textboxID).autocomplete({ delay: delay, source: webserviceURL}); This doesn't work. My webservice URL is /blah/blah.asmx/myMethod The webservice definition is: [WebMethod] [ScriptMethod(ResponseFormat = ResponseFormat.Json)] public List<string> myMethod(string term) { // Logic here, return list of strings }
The method never gets called. Can anyone point me in the right direction? I have other webservices in the same .asmx which work fine with other controls (other controls are using $.ajax to call them).
Edit: Getting closer, I now get a 500 error saying Request format is unrecognized for URL unexpectedly ending in '/myMethod'. I think it's not treating my url quite right..
