I have a web application written in C#. I want part of the application to update a multiline textbox as the program progresses through a loop. I would like the web interface to update the textbox to show the status in realtime (or via timer set to 1second intervals).Im new to web and ajax. Ive tried several tools/methods and have had any luck.
Have u ever added an Assembly to GAC in realtime..? I mean under what situation you have done that? In the usual ASP.Net development I haven't come across such a cituation. (I know the concept - why we add is because... it will be available globally to all app. But what I need to know is the realtime situation you needed this)
I have either an ASP.NET displaying my results, or a Silverlight client. And I'd like to show the current status of my server, or embedded device. (pretend the device reads temperature and humidity stats)
How should I send the status information from my device to the front end? Should I poll the device and save the results to SQL, Azure Table, or the like? (Azure is a technology that fits with this project for other reasons. That's why I mention it) Or should I create a WCF service that polls the device directly and returns the current status.
Lets say i have a button control on a page and a label control. On clicking this button it performs series of actions say Action 1 , Action 2. Action 20 which will take say approx 1 hour to complete. What i need is, once this long processing is started, My web page should show the status of each action on label. Eg. After clicking a button, Label1 text should be "Action 1 is started" after Action1 is completed and Action 2 is started ,.... Label1 text should be "Action 1 Done...Action 2 started" I need this so that my user can see whats the current state of processing.
I have a web page that sends emails. When i click on Send mails button. A popup window pops out and starts sending mails. I disable the "Send Mails" button. The status of the process is shown in the popup window. (ex. 110 mails sent out of 12321).
How can i enable the button on my parent window once the process that is going on in the child window(popup) is done ?
I'm in a .NET environment and when a user performs a save or update action, Foundation pops up a status message 'processing...' or 'saving...' or 'refreshing...', then 'saved.' After a given amount of time, the message will disappear,sometimes before the given action is really complete. How can I access this functionality and extend the time these status messages appear on the screen?
I have tried the demo and the code example and it did not work. I was reading that some of the Twitter request uri's have changed and that some are not in use anymore, not sure what that means.
When I run the code it authenticates but when I post I get a 404 error on the Tweet_Click on this line - twitter.Tweet(txtTweet.Text)
On the demo it does not do anything when the button is pressed, the page only refreshes.
i am developing an online mmorpg game . so speed is very important . i have a complex map system which is coded by me . at this map system for walking i am using ajax . using iis 7.5 and netframework 3.5 .
at this page you can use w,a,s,d or keyboard arrow keys for walking [URL] ( username : test1234 , password : test1234 )
as you can see at image below when a player pushes the movement buttons faster ( without waiting to move completed ) status being aborted so it really prevents walking faster i want to prevent this is from happening ( disable buttons to be pushed so fast until post event completed )
For an MVC 2 app that relies on many partial views and almost exclusively uses Ajax for POSTs/GETs, what would be the best way to implement the setting, passing, retrieval and display (using a JavaScript modal) of these messages?
My forms all POST (by way of jQuery $.ajax) to actions that return partial views (html) that are used to update a in the "success:" part of the $.ajax function.
I was hoping for some sort of mechanism in the master view that could "listen" for any messages that any of these partial views might be "delivering"--through their ViewData, for instance.
I am doing so many process in a single button click.It is taking more time.So I want to show a progress bar with percentage or status of the process.Is there any way to implement this.

I want to know how to show the progress bar in WEB while updating the status of progress bar percentage and Status of the application I am trying to built a web application in which I update the scripts from SQLServer to another SQLServer using TransactionScope using Stored Procedures. Here in my app I want to show the progress bar. and its percentage completion of the SP or task and simultaneously updates of the scripts execution.
i.e., Table 1 created, Table2 creation in progress like that or updates etc. Status of application.
s is really old news, but I just found out today. I was watching a channel 9 video on jquery and wcf (http://channel9.msdn.com/shows/Devs4Devs/WCF-and-jQuery-A-Perfect-Couple) and the narrator said at the MIX conference that the Microsoft Client Library is dead and that jQuery is getting all those efforts. So I use the client side library at work. So my question is does this affect the UpdatePanel and it's client side events? The UpdatePanel control looks to be integrated into ASP.NET. I would prefer to not use it anyways because of well known performance issues, but my boss prefers it's simplicity
I'm writing an HTTP handler in ASP.NET 4.0 and IIS7 and I need to generate a file-not-found condition.
I copied the following code from Mathew McDonald's new book, Pro ASP.Net 4 in C# 2010. (The response variable is an instance of the current HttpResponse.)
response.Status = "File not found"; response.StatusCode = 404;
However, I found that the first line generates the run-time error HTTP status string is not valid.
If, instead of the lines above, I use the following:
response.Status = "404 Not found";
Then everything seems to work fine. In fact, I even see that response.StatusCode is set to 404 automatically.
My problem is that I don't want this to fail on the production server. So I'd feel much better if I could understand the "correct" way to accomplish this. Why did the first approach work for Mathew McDonald but not for me? And is the second approach always going to be reliable?
The effect I want is that a status message band "slides" open after an action.I'm trying to implement this with an updatepanel in the master and setting it's control values from the web page, who's content is in another UpdatePanel in the master. in pseudo-markup:
[Code]....
I figure I could use an ajax accordion or something for the expanding effect...But I can't figure out the event timing and how to update the status message. If I update it within an exception in the child page, the message doesn't get displayed.How can I pass a status message to the master and have it displayed in the manner I explained?
have a web application hosted on Windows Server 2003 SP2 with IIS 6. I use ASP.net Web Forms and ASP.net AJAX.Some times, when clicking on a button to perform an action the web application does bot respond to the user.After debugging i have found that ErrorSys.WebForms.PageRequestManagerServerErrorException: An unknown error occurred while processing the request on the server. The status code returned from the server was: 413
i am trying to figure out how to display message box after it done executing the server side code here is the code which works from the client side but still looking for a way to make it work from code-behind.aspx
<div id="status"></div>
script:
$("#status").fadeTo(500, 1, function() { $(this).html("You are now registered!").fadeTo(7000, 0); })
i want to update status on linkedin using linkedin user id, i am developing my final year degree project of social bookmaring site, i dont want to save username and password of the user, i am only saving userid of the user. when user login in to my site , only first time i want to authenticate user and next time in future i use Userid if linkedin to post his status.
I have a process that retrieves html from a remote site and parses it. I pass several URL's into the method, so I would like to ajaxify the process and give a screen notification each time a URL completes parsing. For example, this is what I am trying to do:
List<string> urls = ...//load up with arbitary # of urls foreach (var url in urls) { string html = GetContent(url); //DO SOMETHING //COMPLETED.. SEND NOTIFICATION TO SCREEN (HOW DO I DO THIS) } public static string GetContent(string url) { HttpWebRequest request = (HttpWebRequest)WebRequest.Create(url); request.Method = "GET" using (var stream = request.GetResponse().GetResponseStream()) { using (var reader = new StreamReader(stream, Encoding.UTF8)) { return reader.ReadToEnd(); } } }
In each iteration in the loop, I want to show the URL was completed and moving on to the next one. How can I accomplish this?
I'm new to AJAX and ASP.NET and i have a question for you guys..I have built a C# project and i wish to create a web page via AJAX that displays the current status of my program.The thing is, i cant import an ASP web application into my solution and therefore cant create an ASP page using AJAX.
We have two update panels on our webpage. Now first update panel is having button cancel. While second update panel is having a file upload control.
Now if the user uploads a file that is going to upload in about 2 mins, and in between, say after 30 seconds the user clicks the cancel button, the upload taking place in update panel 2 should stop.
I have a formview in Edit Mode, within an update Panel all and these arewithin a Modal Pop Up extender.On clicking Formview Update button, I want an image to appear within the pop up.I have put the image within another panel1 and runat server.For some reason the image is not showing on clicking update button.
