i am unable to use cascadingdropdown as it is tightly binded with dropdowns.
please guide me how do i update listbox items based on the dropdown selected value using ajax.
i tried with pagemethods getting the dictionary object using JS function and thought of binding it.
but i am unable to bind the list.

The client is presented with the question which locations have you worked at before. If they pick say 3 locations, i need to remove or disable those 3 from the drop down. I have two usercontrols in my aspx page and in my first usercontrol i have gridview with button inside update panel and if i press the button it should pass the value to second userconrol and based on the value i will do some db operation to bind the controls in second usercontrol.
I am wondering is it possible to achieve using AJAX? I need to do this with partial postback without posting entire content of the page.

Mar 26, 2011I am designing a program that will let me enter the name of an item to swap and adds the swap to an array list when a button Add is pressed. Once the item is added to the array list a Sub Procedure should be called which displays the contents of the array list in a list box.
The system will also allow me to remove items from the array list using a Remove button
followed by updating array list.
I have done some part which puts item into the listbox1 which i named lstSwapList.I would need some assistance on the Sub Procedure to display the Value or Description on the other listbox2 which i have also named lstContent,if a value is selected from the listbox1.
I would also want to know how to update the Listbox content,However i hv added a sample of the way i guess it may be.
Any complete solution from anybody on the Sub Procedure and the Update Swap procedure will be greately appreciated.

Apr 4, 2010I have a asp:ListBox wrapped inside an asp:UpdatePanel. The list box contains Bus Codes. If I select AH, for example, and then scroll down to select XY, the listbox jumps back up to the top of the list instead of staying on XY. Listbox's autopost back is set to True. As I need to get selected values and then pass it to another web page to display a crystal report. The report web page is opened using JavaScript Window.Open and on page load of the web page that contains the listbox this JavaScript is added to a button. Is there a way I can stop my list box jumping back to the 1st item?

Sep 16, 2010I am a complete newcomer to ASP.NET. However in the few weeks I have been playing with it I have got pretty far and have mastered things like stored procedures, gridviews, formviews and templates.I have a dropdown box which is populated from SQLDataSource1
I have a second dropdown box which is populated from SQLDataSource2, but i need the query feeding this to be dependent on what was selected in the first dropdown box. I assumed it would simply be a case of modifying the select statement on SQLDataSource2 using the SelectedIndexChanged event on the first DropDownList to update the second SQL source, but I cannot work out for the life of me how to do it. Pretty much all of the code I have is ASP.
can i do this purely in ASP rather than using VB behind the scenes or do I need to use VB? I am pretty comfortable with vb.net but one of the other issues I have is referencing an ASP object from VB... so for instance if I had a text box in ASP, how can I read or change the properties of this object from VB?
FYI I am using Visual Studio 2010 and SQL/Server

My aspx page is present in a nested master page. and neither autopostback works nor update panel. i have set the AsyncPostBack trigger on SelectedIndexChange event.
Please let me know what am i doing wrong or what am i missing.
PS: I have never worked on ajax before so I might have overlooked something.

Sep 30, 2010I have found an odd bug in my application. I have a dropdown status which is bound to my gridview. On selecting a status from the dropdown the selectedindex then fires and binds the results to the gridview.Now the strange behaviour in firefox and not IE:If I have a dropdown open and an ajax update fires on my gridview the option is selected from the dropdown (just by hovering my mouse over it rather than selecting it) and the results bound to the gridview. This does not happen in ie as you should have to physically select an item from the dropdown rather than firefox selecting it for you because you happened to hover over an option when the update event fires.

Mar 16, 2011I have dropdown1 that has some items in it.I also have dropdown2 that gets populated from a database based on whatever is selected from dropdown1.Dropdown2 has its first item as "Make Selection" and then appends the data from the db based on what was selected in dropdown1.
Now when I select an item from dropdown1 it puts the correct data in dropdown2 but as soon as I select another item from dropdown1 it appends those values into dropdown2. How can I remove the values from dropdown2 after a new item is selected from dropdown1?
