on page AutoCompleteExtender is implemented and just below it, one dropdown is there.
When AutoCompleteExtender displays the list it is getting hide by the below dropdown.
All the controls on page are dynamic.
So, i cannot hide the other dropdowns to get it work.
I would like to ask a question about hiding a drop down in my gridview. I have a gridview and I have a drop down list to control the page size of that gridview. when there is data in that gridview, it is fine for user to see the drop down list. But when there are records in the gridview, I do not want the user to see this drop down list. How can I hide it when there is no data?

My problem is following:
- I type a text in the textbox;
- Autocomplete shows item list;
- If I click out item list (somewhere on the page) - the autocomplete cause postback.
How can I prevent this behaviour?
I need AutoPostback="True" because if I don't select any autocomplete item and press enter in the textbox, it should make search also. And, if search is completed and I change prev text and press enter again, it causes event on the first button in the search result (like Add button) but not on the textbox.
I Have the gridview control with 2 dropdown list and 2 text boxes,When the textbox chnaged event happen 1 row will create and the dropdown back to initial values( its not retaining the selected values),I am binding the control after text changed method,Is there any properties needs to be set or any other way we can retain the values in postbacks?
View 4 RepliesI have an AutoCompleteExtender control tied to a textbox. If the user starts typing in it, a drop down pops up displaying the a list with the matching suggestions. If, while the list is being displayed, the user hits the Tab key, the textbox loses focus and its value gets overwritten with whatever choice was highlighted in the list.
The problem is when the user clicks outside the list, I want to achieve the same behavior. It currently keeps whatever the user had typed (before the choice list pops up), but I would like for the textbox to get the value of the last highlighted choice (just as if they hit Tab).
I'm able to capture the event, when the user clicks outside the list, but I can't seem to find how to get to the highlighted value from the choice list.
How can i generate dropdown lists based on what has been selected in the checckbox list. Below is an example of what i need. if the user selects the options day, lotID and waferID, then 3 cascading dropdown lists should be displayed. And then a gridview displays data based on what has been chosen in the dropdown lists.

I have a Cascading drop down list that is working fine to load the correct lists however I would like to have the last one initiate a query and display a datagrid on the same page containing the results of the query. Without Ajax involved this seems rather easy by using autopostback on the drop downs. If I could do it through Ajax that would be great but I can settle with having the page to reload to display the data. Right now I'm not sure how to do either. I enabled autopostback on the last drop down and wrote a method for it but I get an error at runtime saying:
Invalid postback or callback argument
I have an AutoCompleteExtender control as below. I have tested the web service and it is working. When I debug, there is no error message of any kind. But when I type in the TextBox1, the auto completion does not work. Does somebody know what could be the cause?

I am stuck at this point "Displaying a dropdown list of Categories with a --None -- Option. I want the gridview control to display 2 dropdown list one in read-only mode and the other in edit mode. When a record is in read-only mode, the dropdownlist's enabled property will be set to false."When it's on a read-only mode, it doesn't display the selected Category. it shows but the "No Category". When i click on edit to edit or change category, it doesn't display the selected category.

I am successful in using the AutoCompleteExtender control by make use of web serivces as the data source (ServiceMethod) to the extender control. My question is do we have any way in assining a code behind method as data source to this control.
removing the ServicePath url and assiging code behind method to ServiceMethod attribute will resolve the issue.
I'm using the AutoCompleteExtender control with a textbox. The control functions the way I want it to but I have one issue with it. When the page first loads I type something in the textbox and I get a list of suggestions from my database. When the list is quite big the vertical scroll bar appears on the right side of the browser window and the textbox is repositioned to the center of the page (I want the textbox to be centrally positioned and I'm using <center> tags). Unfortunately the AutoCompleteExtender list doesn't reposition and is misaligned. The same thing happens when the browser window is resized.
I've played around with CSS and OnClientShown and haven't managed to fix this. I'm currently using IE8.
I am developing a user control. This user control is having 2 Dropdown controls and one textbox('txtCustomer'). I am using autocompleteextender for the text box. This 'txtCustomer' control populates the data based on the value selected in 2 dropdowns.
I need to pass the selected value of this 2 dropdown to my meb method. I am not using web service(.asmx page) for this application instead i am using page level web method. I tried to access the controls from the web method inside the Page. but all the identifiers and controls of the page returning null in the web mothod. I have analysed it is because the events "page_Load and page_Init" are not getting fired.
I use AutoCompleteExtender control in an application. When user types an account name to pull a report, the auto complete control lists the top 40 account names from database, user is able to select an account name or type exact account name to pull a report.
It works fine on regular browsers. But the auto complete function does not work on blackberry browser. No error message either. If user types an exact account name, a report can still be pulled. But if a user does not know an exact account name, no data will return because that wrongly typed account name does not exist.
Does somebody know how I can make auto complete work on blackberry or does somebody know any alternative method?

I did something like this and it worked properly when it was in aspx but when i changed all this to ascx and when i added the user control in aspx the autocomplete is not working. say enablecontext = false; i have even tried that.. its not even reaching till that function. moreover i need contextkey to validate different autocomplete controls inside my page.
I'm trying to setup a page that will utilize a dropdown list control inside of a grid view control using VS 2005 2.0 version. Everything that I can find online seems to only show the use of the dropdown list control using a data grid. I don't want to use a data grid because it doesn't have the functionality/ power as the grid view control. how I can incorporate a dropdown list control with the grid view control? I'm working with CascadingDropDown Lists, like CAR > MODEL > ACESSORIES.
Everything have worked fine, but there are some CAR MODELS that don't have ACESSORIES, so I want to HIDE the DROPDOWN "ACESSORIES" if a MODEL that doesn't have ACESSORIES be selected. If the user select a MODEL that has ACESSORIES, so the DROPDOWN ACESSORIES appears.
I think that I might use something like "DIV STYLE:HIDDEN"...
I just implemented a simple Ajax drop down list. The problem I'm facing is that when I run the project I will not be able to select the values from drop down even though there are 4 values coming in.

I have an AjaxControlToolkit.AutoCompleteExtender control attached to a textbox, and three radio buttons. When the user selects a radio button, the service method used to retrieve the values listed in the AutoCompleteExtender is changed, as follows:

but nothing seems force the correct events to fire in order to make the autocomplete list re-display with the results of the new service method. How can I make this happen using Javascript?
EDIT: I should note: the jQuery events are firing correctly in each of the above cases, they're just not causing the autocomplete list to reappear when they do. I figure I haven't yet struck the right combination of events that the autocompleteextender is expecting to force the list to appear.
