AJAX :: Trying To Create A Drop Down List With A Postback?

I am trying to create a drop down list with a postback. When I click on the drop down for some reason the event never gets fired... I added an updated panel with a trigger to force it to fire I get the following error..Could not find an event named 'OnSelectedIndexChanged' on associated control 'ddlAppName' for the trigger in UpdatePanel 'UpdatePanel1'.
does anyone have an thoughts as to what might be going on ? I 've had a sr. developer look at this to make sure the code was right... He seems to think this could be a bug...
I have the following scenario. I have a page that hosts several user controls. The user controls are all surrounded by a single update panel. All user controls have a save button on them. When the save buttons are clicked the page updates the update panel as expected. Some of the user controls contain editable list views. Whenever an action is taken on these list views, the Update Panel is NOT refreshed, but the whole page posts back. How can I get these ListViews to also refresh the Update Panel? I cannot post the code because of NDA. There are no javascript errors on the page reported by either IE8 or Chrome.

I have a query give me two column and several rows say 20.

I have a Cascading drop down list that is working fine to load the correct lists however I would like to have the last one initiate a query and display a datagrid on the same page containing the results of the query. Without Ajax involved this seems rather easy by using autopostback on the drop downs. I have an UpdatePanel that contains several "items" that are in individual divs that are registered as dragdrop objects. I pass the item ID into the object. Everything appears to be working fine until I delete an item/div. The items appear in the correct divs but the ID's are mismatched as if the delete never happened. I know the dispose method is being called for each object. But I don't know how the deleted item ID is still being passed in a drag/drop object that should be re-initialized on every pageLoad. I have 3 drop down boxes, created using the HTML select tag. On page load, the first box has a few names. Now, when I click on one of the names in the first box, some more names should appear in the second and when I click on a name in the second box, some more names should appear in the third box. I am using Visual Studio 2008 and created a simple ASPX page with two drop downs in it. I am using the Update Panel so that when any item is seleted in drop down 1 the second drop down selected item will change accordingly.

I seem to be having a problem loading a gridview using 2 cascading drop down lists. Before I implemented the Ajax cascading drop down list extenders and I just had regular drop down list the gridview that is supposed to load when users choose the appropriate data from the 2 drop down list appears when the submit button was triggered.

When the button event is triggered it looks for the specific value in the second drop down list and calls a specific stored procedure to load the gridview. Now after implementing the cascading drop down lists the page just posts back - there are no errors whatsoever.
