Is it possible for an ASP.NET web application installed on a web server to connect to an Access database stored on a local PC (which is NOT the web server)? I would like the web application to allow the user to specify the path/complete file specification to the database. Or, based on login information specified by the user, the web application might determine the path to the database via an administrative database stored on the web server. The user/customer would be responsible for the storage of the Access database. If the answer to my first question is "YES", how do I programmatically specify/format the path to the Access database on the local PC so the web application can locate the database?
The path has to be something more than "C:foldernamesubfoldernamedatabase.mdb". When I use a path like this, the web application produces an error indicating that the database does not exist or cannot be found. So, I'm fairly sure that the web application is not starting with Drive C: on the local PC to find the database. For all I know, the web application may be interpreting Drive C: as Drive C: on the web server. I'm wondering if I need to specify a computer name before "C:" in the database path.
But when I upload image with Fileupload and click on btnupload button below error happen..
Server Error in '/' Application.
Access to the path 'C:Inetpubvhostsbehtop.comhttpdocsimageHouseservices8.jpg' is denied. Description: An unhandled exception occurred during the execution of the current web request. Please review the stack trace for more information about the error and where it originated in the code. Exception Details: System.UnauthorizedAccessException: Access to the path
I have subdomain "s1" which points to "a" folder. I want to know how could I access to files stored in "b" folder form subdomain "s1". My issue is that files I have some html content which saved in DB Records and their path are base on webroot i.e. "<img src="/b/movie1.avi" /> .Could any one tell me how I could show these files via subdomain "s1"
byte[] b = YourByteArrayFromDb; File.WriteAllBytes(MyFilePath, b);
But I am receiving an exception "Access to the path is denied". How do I solve this using ASP.Net with C#? And is there any format to set the path as string?
What I want to do is take traffic that is going to shop.mywebsite.com and redirect or rewrite (I'm not sure of the terminology) the domain to be www.mywebsite.com/shop. Both shop.* and www.* are separate web applications (nopCommerce and Umbraco respectively) that don't seem to cooperate when I've tried to nest them. Both applications are in a Server 2008 R2/IIS 7.5 environment.
I've searched around stackoverflow and what I've found is a lot of answers to mapping the other direction (ie subfolder to a subdomain) but that's not what I'm looking for as far as I understand the problem.
The end goal is to combine the SEO reputation of the shop subdomain into the www subdomain. I readily admit that I might have this all backwards and am willing to try any suggestions I'm offered.
I have an app with multiple subdomains, subone.parent.com, subtwo.parent.com.
I have a logon page at parent.com/login. When a user logs in I redirect them to the proper domain based on which one they are a member of. This works fine.
FormsAuthenticationTicket ticket = new FormsAuth... string encTicket = FormsAuthentication.Encrypt(ticket); var cookie = new HttpCookie(FormsAuthentication.FormsCookieName, encTicket); cookie.Domain = subone.parent.com Repsonse.Cookies.Add(cookie)
This properly authenticates the user for subone.parent.com and not subtwo.parent.com. However I would like to do the following.
If the user goes back to parent.com, I would like to know that they are logged in and redirect them back to subone.parent.com.
Is there a best practice for accomplishing this? Or do I have to set another cookie for parent.com?
I trying dotnetzip on localhost everything works fine.but on a real dotnet hosting it raises error :
Access to the path 'C:inetpubvhostslahblah.comsubdomains aporhttpdocsDotNetZip-luqevaxu.tmp' is denied. using (ZipFile zip = new ZipFile(Server.MapPath("~")+"/a.zip")) { zip.AddFile(Server.MapPath("~")+"/deneme.txt"); zip.Save(); }
Is there anything missing in IIS 6.0 that prevents me from (Insert into table) using MS-Access?
Explain: The application works fine under Visual Studio 2008 IDE the insert into table works fine with no error, Also I tested with hosting provider and works fine with no problem. but now I have published the same exact app in a dedicated server windows 2003 with IIS 6.0 .NET framework 2.0 with latest service pack I gave IIS_WPG write/modify access to the folder where MS-Access database is located and database but at the time of insert an error pop-up. I need to install in the Server or settings in the IIS to recognize my MS-Access db is it some office runtime that I am missing. (BTW I am using OLEDB connection string in my C# )
Using System.Data.OleDb;
I can retrieve data off of it with no problem but when I try to insert is when it fails I thought the problem was Access Rights but I do not think is the case.
My CMS writes a sitemap xml file, for google analytics, to the server whenever I create or update a page. The error is:
error Code:
Access to the path 'D:homeensamplemrweinerschnitzelandpie.comsitemap.xml' is denied.
I imagine that happens because IUSR_machineName doesn't have proper permissions. I have no issues on my development server (which is pretty much default) but to avoid this in the future, instead of having a method that writes an XML file can I just output an XML filestream? I can barely remember the reasons I used the file writing at all (caching and file dependencies maybe) and that's all been replaced.
Am I on the right path by thinking filestream is the answer or can I just write an aspx page that outputs the sitemap.xml file? Am I wrong in imagining there is a difference between the two?
After doing a google search on a problem I couldn't find the solution so I'm asking I'm runnnig an ASP.NET Website locally to upload a picture file. It takes the filename and from there it takes the date (year and month) and then when it gets uploaded, the web site creates a corresponding folder to store the picture like serverPath/pictures/2010/12 where 2010 is the year and 12 is the month, it all works greate locally but when I upload it to my hosting machine (GoDaddy, IIS 7.0) is keeps giving me this error message:"Access to the path X is denied"And it's not automatically creating the folders.This is the code that I'm using to create the folder:
if (!Directory.Exists(nombrePath)) { Directory.CreateDirectory(nombrePath); return true; }
I'm sure that the path is correct, I've verified the path string and also it works locally
I've put my application on IIS with a App Pool I newly created. The App pool setting is integrated and networkservice.
My application reads a local file from a local machine. When it tries to do that, I receive an exception saying that "Access to the path c:..xxx is denied". Isn't the app using the credentials logged into the local machine?!
doesn't "integrated and networkservices" mean.. use the credentials logged in to windows?

I have seen this error many times in past and what all I used to do was to add aspnet account to the directory and provide it with read and write access. But this time I am trying to run an application in Windows 7(64 bits) - I had to manually enable the IIS from windows feature in Control Panel.
But I dont see any aspnet account in 'security' tab of any of the directories (in its properties). I even ran aspnet_regiis -i in v2.0.50727 and v4.030319 directories. How do I get aspnet user account to show up in any folder?
I have read this post [URL] about something similar to my problem, but here is the thing, this Web Application worked without problems until someone changed some rights in the folder: '\ServerNameFolder' I have write permissions for both "DOMAINusername" and ASPNET but it doesn't work, anytime I attempt to upload a file from theweb app the "access to the path '\ServerNameFolderTest.xls' is denied" appears. But if I do it manually with "DOMAINusername" it works.
I am required to control access to a specific file on our server. I suggested, for the time being (rather than affording time for other routes until we can), that we simply use the web.config to lock this file down to everyone by means of a location/system.web/authorization setting.
This soon failed to protect the resource and I quickly became aware why (I think). It is a public site and is not using Forms authentication (currently just defaulting to Windows).
So, for clarity, here are the relevant parts the config file...
Can I secure this resource without turning on Forms authentication? Or can I turn authentication on but never actually require authentication to occur, by allowing all resources but the ones explicitly stated, or by explicitly stating all allowed and denied resources?
I upload the file. I m creating web service to read that uploaded file. how can I access that uploaded file path in web service.? How can I read the uploaded file using web service?
