I wrote some code to upload files to amazon S3, if I put a full file path manually It successfully uploads the file from my computer. What I'm trying to do is use a file upload control and store the full path in a variable so that I can use it for my amazon method. Ive read everywhere it seems that the browser won't let you get the full file path for security reasons.
How can I get the full file path? Should I just store the files on my webserver and point my amazon method to the server path, and then use the file upload control to tell it what the filename is?
I have created a web service SampleWS.asmx [uses authentication mode="Windows" and identity mpersonate="true"]. Works fine on my dev using VS and Personal web server. Now to move this to QA I have created a Virtual directory called intg pointed it to a physical path on the server Now I have copied the (actually tried publish to this server folder and simple copy and paste) .asmx , dll folder and .cs to this folder on server First I received firbidden access for which I have set execute permissions on IIS to scripts and executables. This fixed the initial issue. The Web service extensions has allow for both 1.1 and 2.0 on IIS Now I receive the following error ..
Access to the path
C:WINDOWSMicrosoft.NETFrameworkv1.1.4322Temporary ASP.NET Filesintgaf936b4453b023c7"
I am using file upload mechanism to upload file for an employee and converting it into byte[] and passing it to varBinary(Max) to store into database.
Now I what I have to do is, if any file is already uploaded for employee, simply read it from table and show file name. I have only one column to store a file and which is of type VarBinary. Is it possible to get all file information from VarBinary field?

I have used a FileUpload control in my web page. Now I want that when the textbox of the control is blank (i.e no file name mentioned), the upload button should be disabled. Only after the some file name is mentioned, the buttong should get enabled.
when i first made the DB i used access 2010 which uses the 2007 file type which supports attachments, however asp.net doesnt support the 2007 format. and the 2003 file type doesnt support attachments, i assume i use the OLE object data type but i have no idea how i get my aspx page "new.aspx" to upload an attachment. plus i want to restrict the file type to *.jpg
I'm trying to display images in a GridView (yes, still this...). [edit] Before I can come to that I have to upload some images to the database.
I've followed this tutorial for the "upload image to database" code (this worked fine for uploading images, but I don't know if the images were converted to byte):
[URL]
and I've followed this tutorial for the "display images in gridview" code (and "retrieve file" from the tutorial below).
[URL]
It doesn't quite work, the GridView shows but without images
Now I'm trying to change the "save file" code according to this tutorial:
[URL]
but I don't understand everything in it. When I try to upload an image I get an error on this line:
[URL] .... I am referring to the link given mentioned above, i want to save image details into database of each file, if i select two files i want to save filename in database in each row. ist file in 1 row , second file in next row with file name.
I'm trying to upload a file to an ASP 2.0 web service through HTTP 1.1 POST from a client-side application. If my web service function is declared as
<WebMethod()> Public Function UploadFile(ByVal file as Byte(), ByVal fileName as String) as String ...
The test form says the request should take this form:
POST address_of_service HTTP/1.1 Host: <host> Content-Type: application/x-www-form-urlencoded Content-Length: length file=string&file=string&fileName=string
How do I get my binary file data into that form? I've tried just converting the file data to a string and putting it in the body (file=<string_data_here>) but I get HTTP 500 errors back, complaining about not being able to convert it to System.Byte. I've got HTTP POST working fine elsewhere in my application with plain string parameters. Also, out of curiosity, why is it showing the file parameter twice?
