Addhandler Causes 'Error Creating Control - MainContent' Error In Design View?
Dec 11, 2010
I'm working on a page that uses a master page. In the master page, I have a drop-down and when a value is selected I generate an evenIn the web page, I have this statement "Addhandler Master.FilterChanged, AddressOf FilterChangedFromMasterPage"Everything works fine, and can edit the page as much as I want, but only with the Source view - because if I look at the design view, the entire MainContent section is reduced to this error; "Error Creating Control- MainContent / Object Reference not set to an instance of an object"But if I debug it locally, or FTP it to the server, it works just fine!
After I imported a VS 2008 web project to VS 2010, I can't view aspx pages that have master pages in design mode. The page design mode displays "error creating control - contentplacehoder1 object reference not set to an instance of an object." The project builds and runs fine though. I have only one master page that all other aspx pages reference and I don't have any nested master pages.
I have created a custom control from scratch and it works fine as in you can build the project that uses it and it works fine at runtime. Problem is when you go to design view the control shows an error in the place of where the control should be rendered.
Error: '<SomeValue>' Could not be set to '<SomeProperty>'
This shows up on all my custom set properties. These properties are created as basic as possible. I can give the properties values in Source view and run the app just fine. I can even add a Onclick event. If I don't set any custom properties the control will render fine in Design view. It's only when I set a value to a custom property.

I've even removed the Category and Description tags with no difference.
I don't know if what I said makes sens, but I hope it does.
I'm receiving the following error in DesignMode with the Accordion1 control. Not sure what is causing this. This is my ASP WebApp.Error Rendering Control - Accordion1 An unhandled exception has occurred. Collection was modified; enumeration operation may not execute.Any idea, what causes this error?Code VS 2005 Pro ASP Ajax XP SP3
I Think this is a bug of visual studio 2010 in design view. I'not using any event to manipulate session object in the method OnInt(). The "PlaceHolderTopo" is an placeholder in the web user control Topo.ascx. It's work normaly. I Don't have any code inside the content place holder in the page tha inherits from the master page and get this error.Below is the code of the masterpage:
How do i post html markup? instead of it showing as the controls that dont show on MY PAGE! I took the code directly from the sample website, i am not useing a master page so made a few changes. I cant figure what i missed i am guessing something to do with the commonpage that the page inherits from in the sample site or the fact that it had a masterpage and i didnt clean it up enough
When clicking on design view button - Received error "Microsoft.VisualStudio.Xaml" has failed to load properly(GUID = {E58C2A8B-BCC4-4559-AD59-D62EB6D58A22}). Possible environment corruption.
Again, working with VS2010 and ASP.NET 4 I've run into a problem. Although my site seems to be working as it should, some of my pages in VS2010 show an error in design mode: ERROR Creating Control - xxxxxx. Request is not available in this context. I have shut down VS and reopened my site several times, same results. I have reviewed my code and can't find anything wrong.
It doesn't seem to matter what I try to make the animation do, I keep getting this shown in the designer. No one else on google seems to be getting that problem either. Note: it doesn't cause debugging or runtime issues... in fact, the only negative thing it does is make it extremely annoying when I look at the designer... I'm going to have about 12 of these updatepanelanimations firing everytime the timer ticks too :(.MasterPage file has the toolkitscriptmanager on it.Here is my designer code for the page I'm having the issue on:
Cannot create the clustered index 'RateViewIndex' on view 'NoteToPass.dbo.RateView' because the select list of the view contains an expression on result of aggregate function or grouping column. Consider removing expression on result of aggregate function or grouping column from select list.
I was referred here by MSDN forums hope this is the right place - I have a custom control (:WebControl) that renders web.sitemap in a specific way. While it runs error free and produces the expected result, at Design-Time it complains
[Code]....
and have tried the SiteMapDataProvider Tag with and without the SiteMapProvider attribute.Does anybody have (a) any experience with this, or (b) any suggestions as to how to track down the problem?
I am having some trouble with designing a masterpage for my site. In IE 8 the left menu pane stretches out every time i add a pic to the top table. When in compatiblity mode this is not a problem
I have the user control and web page. When I place user control in the web page and in design time, it cannot view and error is "System.Web.UI.UserControl does not have a public property named 'ContentTemplate". It seems not related of error message.
design code is above and following error occured "WebForms UnobtrusiveValidationMode requires a ScriptResourceMapping for 'jquery'. Please add a ScriptResourceMapping named jquery(case-sensitive)."
I am creating custom control with tabs and also giving design time support for that control. In design time I cant accessing the child controls and also tabs. I want to change the tabs at the desing time.
I'm new to asp.net and I am picking it up pretty good. What is pissing me off to no end is why an image control will not display in design view when it works just fine on the local asp development server. I am using VS 2005. The image is part of a master page. The only thing that shows is the red x along with some really small green triangle in the top left. Btw what is that geen triangle all about?
I've added AddHandler to dynamic controls in code behind but when I (for example) select an item from the ajax combobox (selectedIndedChanged) nothing happens.
