Adding Data Into Tables Includes Foreign Keys But Which New Row Created Entity Framework
Apr 6, 2010
Adding data into kartlar table (RehberID,KampanyaID,BrimID) is ok. But which Kart'ID created? I need to learn which Id created after adding data (RehberID,KampanyaID,BrimID) into Kartlar?
[code]...
How can I do that? I want to get data from Kartlar which data I added?

how to handle foreign keys with Entity Framework, when editing or adding a new record. For example, I have a person table, which has a timezone_id linking to my timezone table.
But the model seems to not include timezone_id. I see it's a new way of doing things, but ... how do I store my record?
My method:
[code]...
I can't do u.timezone_id = timezoneid;
I only have u.timezone (which seems to be the actual entity), and u.timezoneReference, which I am not sure what to do with.

Using a very run-of-the-mill database, with identity int for primary keys, a Dynamic Data Entities Project (EntityFramework) displays the primary key for view and edit. When using Linq to Sql, the primary key fields are not displayed.
I would like to hide the primary keys and use Entity Framework (VS 2008, .Net 3.5 sp1).

I'm trying to insert a new EF object containing a reference to a related table via foreign key, and cannot get the reference stored in the new object. I have two tables in a SQL Server 2008 Database:
Component Templates
PartGroups
with a Foreign Key linking them thus: ComponentTemplates:ID [0..1<->*] PartGroups:ComponentTemplateID
I have imported these tables into a .NET web application project .edmx file (using a new ADO.NET Entity Data Model), and then created a Data Service which I then reference in a Silverlight 3.0 project. The objects are available as expected in the data context called by my Silverlight app and load correctly. Now, when I try to save a reference of ComponentTemplate into a newly created PartGroup, the PartGroup object is created in the database, but the value of ComponentTemplateID in the newly created table record is NULL.
[Code]....
(Note that _ctCtrl.ComponentTemplate is a confirmed non-NULL object reference to the parent object on which PartGroup is a child)

Am trying to get a working enity model with foreign keys working but have run into a problem. I have imported 3 tables with content and some data.Lets call these tables geo_countries, geo_counties, geo_municipalities and the FK are:1. geo_county have a column country_id wich corresponds to country_id in geo_country 2. geo_municipality have a column county_id wich correspond to the county_id in geo_county.The problem i have is when i try to get correspondig child items with the following code i run into trouble:
[Code]....
The problem above is that 'test' generates results but not 'test2', wich never return anything. Am i not supposed to be able to do it like i do in 'test2'? I earlier tried to add a child object by replacing ToList() with Add() and that worked. But i cant seem to get anything out of it.

I have 2 tables Departments {ID, DeptCode (PK), SubDeptCode (PK)} and Employee {ID, Name (PK), DeptID (PK & FK to ID in Deparments)}.
Both ID fields are declare as UNIQUE and incremental identity. It works fine in sql server 2000 but EF won't map the relation in my app.

I am new to Entity Framework and working my way through it little by little. I think I have it figured out on how to get data into and out of 1 table at a time now the challenge is 2 tables into a gridview.
I have a user table that has a list of threads that a user can mark to track. Easy enough. Assign the userid number & threadid to a table with a push button while the user is logged in and viewing any of the posts that are on that thread. The new challange is to get only the posts that the user has marked to track. SQL easy. Entity not sure what to do.
If I make a view or stored procedure and add it to the database that would be an extra step. To join the 2 tables as in sql Select posts from posts where track.userid = @userid join track on post.userid=track.userid Seems Entity was made to avoid this type of thing. Than once the data is gathered I need to bind it to a gridview()

I need to dynamically access some SQL tables hopefully using the Entity Framework. Here's some pseudo code:
var Account = DB.Accounts.SingleOrDefault(x => x.ID == 12345);
which will return me an Account object and this contains some fields called "PREFIX", "CAMPAIGN ID" and further information about the accounts are stored in separate SQL tables with the naming convention of PREFIX_CAMPAIGNID_MAIN.
The tables all have the same fields so I was thinking of creating a new Entity that isn't mapped anywhere and then dynamically loading it, like so:
var STA01_MAIN = new MyAccount(); // my "un-mapped" entity
DB.LoadTable('STA01_MAIN').LoadInto(STA01_MAIN);
I can now get anything about the STA01_MAIN account: STA01_MAIN.AccountId. So my question is: how do I access these tables using the Entity Framework?

I am having trouble with foreign keys Dynamic Data and entity framework 4.0. It feels like there is a problem with the entity association but I am not sure. I have multiple fields representing the foreign key on the insert page.
When I try and insert data I get an error A dependent property in a ReferentialConstraint is mapped to a store-generated column.
Column: 'CommentId'
My data is a very basic one to many relationship, the foreign key in question is BookId in the Comment Table.
[code]...
When I let the scaffolding do its thing, I get multiple fields representing the foreign key.

I have a question about Entity Framework. answer if you know answer on this. I have such query :
[Code]....
Particularly I want to join few tables in one query, but I can NOT use LINQ and can NOT use ObjectQuery with objects mapped to DB fields inside my query. Because each entity creates dynamically. So this is what i
can NOT use : [URL]
The question is can I use something like this instead of using objects?
[Code]....
The purpose is to use Join method of ObjectQuery with syntax as in Where method :[URL]

A relative newcomer to .net MVC2 and the entity framework, I am working on a project which requires a single web application, (C# .net 4), to connect to multiple different databases depending on the route of access, (ie subdomain).
No problem with this in principle and all the logic is written to transform the subdomain into an entity connection and pass this through to the Entity Model.
The problem comes with the fact that the different database whilst being largely similar in structure contain 3 or 4 unique tables bespoke to that instance.
To my mind there are two ways to solve this issue, neither of which i am sure will be possible.
1/ Use a separate entity model for each database. -Attempts down this route have through up conflicts where table/sp names are the same across differnt db's, or implicit conversion errors when I try and put the different models in different namespaces. or
2/ Overwrite the classes which refer to the changeable database objects based on the value of a base controller property.
My question is if either of theser routes can ever work in principle or if i should just give up on the EF and connect to the dtabases directlky using ADO. Perhaps there is another way to solve this problem i haven't thought of?

I have the following tables in my database which are as given under:
[code]...
My requirement is instead of getting the PromotionID values displayed for columns CustomerPromotionDiscountID & EmployeePromotionDiscountID, it should display the respective DiscountAmount. Which is not happenning for some reason.
I somehow found a workaround where if i define the datatype for columns CustomerPromotionDiscountID and EmployeePromotionDiscountID as nchar or nvarchar, it displays the DiscountAmount.
Wanted to know if there is any better way of doing this without changing the datatype for my columns?

I am working with VS 2010, Entity framework, SQl-Server 2005, ASP.Net web forms. Currently, I am working on the Data access layer library which soon will be a web service, using Entity Framework collaboration with different design patterns like repository pattern and some best practices that posts in different blogs. I am also test each repository using the Unit testing project. Thumbs up! Working fine.
The thing I am worried about is, how much is good for retrieving data from a table that can contain 80-100k records ?

I've created a new ASP.NET website. I've generated an Entity Data Model from my database and have dropped a entitydatasource and gridview onto my page and wired up the gridview to pull from the entitydatasource. Now I get columns like this: id extension prefix did_flag len ten_id restriction_class_id sfc_id name_display building_id floor room phone_id department_id
In each case where the item is named something_id this reflects a foreign key relationship in the database - and I did choose to have the EDM expose foreign key relationships. I'd like to make it so the gridview pulls in the values for these foreign keys rather than just showing the ID numbers - so, for example, department_id might have a value of "101" right now but it should pull from the department table "Marketing".

Is there a way to export a EF 4.0 Data Model to EF 3.5?
I looked around and found that we are not able to access EF 4.0 from a ASP.Net 3.5 project here: [URL]
Our project is the 1st to go to .Net 4.0 using Entity Framework and we (the team) were wondering if there was a way for the other projects that "might" need to access our data that are still using the .Net 3.5 framework.
