I'm new to ASP.NET. I'm making a session counter, which is incremented in the Session_Start() event and decremented in Session_End(). I have created a Global.asax file and added the event handlers. Then I wanted to access the Application object in a .cshtml file, but the Application object is not available. It's underlined with a red squiggly line.

How can i directly access a .cshtml file in ASP.NET MVC using razor view engine?
For example i have this url: localhost/Home/About. This will load the about site inside the "master" page.
I want to load the about page without also loading the master page. So i was thinking that i could use this url: localhost/Home/About.cshtml. But it's not working.
How can i load a view page without loading the master page?
I have five menu items that i have created as a user control and placed on the master page. Now i want one of the menu items to be visible only for particular user role and not visible for others. Here is what I did. Its not working though.

So I have written as part of an application some code that on my clients website pulls some information from SQL server and uses it to create a new file using a Word with bookmarks as a template. It works fine on my development machine, but not on my production server with the error: "Cannot create ActiveX component.: Word.Application". Now I have been approaching this as if it is an issue with Office, but it occurred to me that this might be another issue. Maybe some security issue with ASP.NET? My original thought was it was some kind of compatibly problem as I had Office 2007 on my machine and 2010 on the server.

I have a masterpage (which we will call 'default'). This contains a second page (web user control) -'second'. And finally a third 'print' page. The 'print' page is also a web user control, however, it merely has a placeholder that contains the 'second' page.Is there a way I can add a control to the 'second' page - such as a literal, and only have it visible on the 'print' page?
View 1 RepliesI am trying to use aspx pages as an email templates. There will likely be a bunch of objects on the page which will be used as replacements in the html. Because it's an aspx page I'll be able to use databinding, repeaters, etc. At run time, I want to be able to instantiate the aspx page from its path, pass in a bunch of properties, and then get the rendered result of the page and email it. This seems pretty straightforward from a asp.net website (maybe using BuildManager or Server.Execute.) However, I want to be able to use the same templates via a console application by just loading up a page object from its filepath. Is this possible?

Using StringBuilder im building my object in code behind so its customize for our needs.. I placed a Literal control within the modalpopup and populating it when you click on a button..On my test page everything works great to display it and when fed a value video file, it plays.. on that page, it wasnt contained within a modalpopup.Now on my actual dev page that i need it on, i placed the literal control within the modalpopup, and when you click on the button, it builds the object..my modal popup comes up and everything shows up except the object which is weird, because within the stringbuilder i have 4 buttons below the object and those show up, just not the object control itself.. can a object not be built and displayed like this?What makes it weirder is that when the modal popup opens, you can view the source of the page and my entire customize object control is there, but it just doesnt render on the page..

I have a project that uses a CSSHandler with images and css style sheets in the project root directory in their own folders (img, styles, App_themes). I also have a sub application that comes with a MasterPage. The sub application is located in a separate folder in the root directory with all its images, css, and pages. Functionally the sub application works, but the formatting is lost. The images and colors are not displayed. How can I make the sub application's css visible to its pages? It has probably something to do with the way the CSS handler delivers themes and css style sheets?

then i published it to IIS but now i have noticed that the images the application has are not visible.
also the Javascript that i have added are not being added.
this was not the case when i was developing the application.
i was sure that i was path problem but i changed it <img alt="Loading" src="images/progress.gif" />
still the image is not being shown.
also if i try to browse the path http://localhost/MyApplication/images/progress.gif then i see this message

I have downloaded all the required setup to use windows application. I am using vs 2008, already downloaded Windows Mobile 6 Professional SDK Refresh, Windows Mobile 6 Standard SDK Refresh. its buliding and deploying successfully. But I am not able to place tools, because there are no tool in toolbox. What i should do to see the tools in tool box.
When i created a simple site via Matrix which adopts Razor technology by default, i found site automatically display "default.cshtml" if started through "http://localhost:xxxx/bread/" ; however i hadn't set "default.cshtml" as "default document" for this site, even i seek in the "applicationhost.config" i just find

1) i have to create application object once in day at 9 AM and destroyed at particular end day 3.30 PM.
My question is how to destroyed application object at given particular time ... i think this can be done in application_end handler in global.asax ... but my question is when no request is made at that time then what happened..

I think that web site uses XML XSL I'm going to implement a web application in asp.net which will use data stored in sql database (or xml database or web service) and show these information like other normal web sites but in xml format in nice UI (using xsl?).That Weather website is only a sample to show what i want to do (i will not use any data from that site, my application is different).My requirement is being able to view page source only in XML format.Now I'm clear that xsl is the solution for that, but considering to use this method in asp.net.(use xml/xsl in dynamic asp.net pages) My Question? It is important for me to make the web page output in xml format(visible in xml format in page view source) but looks user friendly for users. 1.how can i do it in asp.net ?

The code does not give any error. I can see it set the visible property to true/false. But actual control on page remain same (always visible on every page).
I have a gridview that is bound to a SQL datasource and is filtered via FilterExpression,
the FilterExpressoin is using Contro Parameters in a for of textboxes.
I want a certain button to become visible (btnInsert.Visible=true) when the filterExpression returns no results.

I'm at a section where I'm creating a BasePage. I successfully created a BasePage by creating a new class file in my App_Code folder called BasePage.cs with the following code:

If I run that code everything works out fine. The page loads and all is well. But, if I try to do the same thing to a page that uses my MasterPage.master file, I get the following error:

Why is that? In the example code from the book (that also uses a MasterPage.master file), everything excutes and runs just fine. But in my test, I get the above error. I've tried comparing my pages to the books included source pages, but I can't find any differences.
