Edit : Problem wasn't related Event Propagation, if you want to know how to stop propagation in jQuery, then use event.stopPropagation();
When user moves his/her mouse over <span> element my jQuery code appends an <img>into this <span> element and when he moves out his mouse off <span> than the element appended is removed. It helps people to edit the field when clicking on the appended <img> element.
The reason I used append() method to add <img> into <span> is because I want to keep <img> element visible when user moves his mouse over to appended <img> element (<img> is becoming <span>'s child element) But it didn't happen and when user moves his mouse over it <img> is being deleted. I am thinking it is because event propagation but I couldn't find how to activate it in jQuery as we do with addEventListener in Firefox based browsers.
I am trying to display elements in a web page using <li>. The structure of the page is as follows
<ul> <li> (How to hide its visibility if this has no child elements) <ul> <li> item 1</li> <li> item 2</li> <li> item 3</li> </ul> </li> </ul>
My question is if the li element has no child items how do I hide it. I need to do this dynamically. If I find that I have no records to display as <li> item </li>....I should be able to hide the parent <li>. One soultion is make the <li id="something" runat=server>
if the child elements are not be shown I tried doing childelement.parent.Visible = false.
I'm trying to create a view that will allow me to create an entity record and also child entities for that record. I have an entity type called "Parent" and I have a child entity called "Child". I want to be able to allow the user to create a Parent including adding several Children and their details, and the npost them all back to the controller from a single view. I found an example on how I would kind of do something like this here: [URL]. The problem with that example is that you can't refer to entities using bracket notation so it only works for those lists. Is there a way to insert hierarchical entity data using MVC from a single view in a single post back?
I am developing asp.net mobile application. I am using the XML as a database. I am using the following part of the XML file to query the data by using the LINQ to XML.
In the above XML file I want to retrive the "NAME" attribute of the SECTION node with the condition MIMIC ID="1". I dont want to modify my existing XML file. I have the server collection of node with simialr elements as the above XML file.
I am developing asp.net mobile application. I am using XML as a database. I am querying on the XML to access the required elements & attributes by using LINQ to XML in .net. I have the follwing part in my XML file.
[code]....
The similar logic I need for the above defined XML part. In the above XML I want to write the LINQ to XML query which can access the NAME attribute of the 'VALVE' node (<VALVE NAME="PWV">), then it should access the text between 'DISPLAY-NODE' (<DISPLAY-NAME> Production Master Valve </DISPLAY-NAME>), & then it should access the all the attributes of the 'COMMAND' node dynamically ( <COMMANDS USE-TEMPLATE="TRUE" TEAMPLATE-NAME="ValveCommands.xml"></COMMANDS>). All these I want dynamically without explicitly specifying the name of the child node as well as name of their attributes ( similar to the way I written the above query ) Can we write such a code by using LINQ to XML ? It will be better if we can write code for above issue in a single logic ( similar to the way I written the above query ).
If I set up a repeater that has LinkButton controls, an UpdatePanel works great. If I add child elements to the LinkButton,such as SPAN, the UpdatePanel stops working as expected. If you click on the area of the LinkButton everything still works, but if you click on the area of the SPAN inside of the LinkButton, you get a full PostBack.I've tried setting ChildrenAsTriggers to true and a few hundred other things. Nothing seems to work. I think the UpdatePanel sees that the "click" event happened on the SPAN and doesn't know to capture it for an async postback.
I'm working on a questionnaire type application in which questions are stored in a database. Therefore, I create my controls dynamically on every Page.OnLoad.This works like a charm and ViewState is persisted between postbacks because I ensure that my dynamic controls always have the same generated Control.ID.
In addition to the user control that dynamically populates the questions, my questionnaire page also contains a 'Status' section (also encapsulated by a user control) which represents the status of the questionnaire (choices are 'Complete', 'Started' or 'In Progress'). If the user changes the status of questionnaire (i.e. from 'In Progress' to 'Complete'), I need to postback to the server because the contents of the dynamic portion of the questionnaire depend on the selected status.
Some questions are always present regardless of status, and yet others may not be present at all for the selected status. The point is, when the status changes, I have to postback to the page and render the right set of questions. Additionally, I need to preserve any user entered values for those questions which are 'always available'.
However, due to the page life cycle in ASP.NET, the 'Status' user control's OnLoad, which contains the correct status needed to load the right questions from the DB, doesn't get executed until after the 'dynamic questions' user control has already been populated (with the wrong/stale values).
To get around this, I raise an event from my 'Status' user control to the main page to indicate that the Status has changed. The main page then raises an event on the 'dynamic questions' user control. Since by the time this event bubbles up, the 'dynamic questions' user control has already loaded the 'wrong' questions from the DB, it first calls Controls.Clear. It then happily uses the new status to query the database for the 'correct' questions and does a Control.Add() on each. FYI, Control.IDs are consistent across postbacks.
This solution works...sorta. The correct set of questions for the selected status do get rendered; however ViewState is getting lost for those 'always available' questions. I'm guessing this is because the 'dynamic questions' user control calls Controls.Clear when responding to the status changed event. This must somehow kill the association between ViewState and my dynamic controls, even though the Control.IDs are consistent.
This seems like such a common requirement, I'm virtually certain there is a better, cleaner and less error prone approach to accomplish this. In case its not plainly obvious, I haven't been able to grok the ASP.NET page life-cycle despite working with it for the last year.
I have a control that handles commenting. In this control, I have set a delegate event handler for sending an email.
I then have various types of controls, e.g. blog, articles etc, each of which may or may not have the commenting control added (which is done dynamically with me not knowing the id's), i.e. the commenting control is added outside this control. Each of these controls handles it's emailing differently(hence the event).
What I'm trying to determine, is how to assign the event in the parent control. At the moment, I'm having to recursively search through all the controls on the page until I find the comment control, and set it that way. Example below explains:
COMMENTING CONTROL
public delegate void Commenting_OnSendEmail(); public partial class Commenting : UserControl { public Commenting_OnSendEmail OnComment_SendEmail(); private void Page_Load(object sender, EventArgs e) { if(OnComment_SendEmail != null) { OnComment_SendEmail(); } } }
PARENT CONTROL
public partial class Blog : UserControl { private void Page_Load(object sender, EventArgs e) { Commenting comControl = (Commenting)this.FindControl<Commenting>(this); if(comControl != null) { comCtrol.OnComment_SendEmail += new Commenting_OnSendMail(Blog_Comment_OnSendEmail); } } }
EDIT:
The reason I ask is that if I search from this.Page as the initial control, I am worried about time taken to search down the control tree to find it. Each different type of page would be different in how many control it would have. On some testing, it returns back quite quickly the result.
I have a problem i am trying to work out the best method with my limited skills. Im using vb.net(VS 2010) I am using a dll for an IFrame , which is call from code behind. On my site I havea masterpage which has two gridviews. ( GrdViewWebBureau is the one i am using for this query) GrdViewWebBureau is contained within an update panel and updated on a timer control trigger. GrdViewWebBureau updates the page with file counts and status from our clients. I can click on any one of the cells and the code behind is fired. What I am trying to do is put an IFrame on the master page and every time a user clicks on the grid, the Iframe is fired up.
I have tested the iframe and vb code behind from a dummy page and it works, however when the Iframe is on the master page it doeant work. What I am tryingh to achieve is that no matter what page a user is on the site, they will be able to click on the GrdViewWebBureau and the iframe will fire with the correct childpage. Each webPage may also have an Iframe as well, so i dont know if it is possible to make the IFrame global and just call that control ?? I have no idea if 1 this is possible with the code i have and 2, if i have the brains to understand the who what why and when.
I've got a Jquery function that I wrote which blacks out the screen after a certain amount of inactivity, creates a pop-up that allows the user to click a button to stay logged in, and logs them out (closing the application window) if they do not respond in time.
The environment is ASP.NET (VB). We don't technically use master pages, but we do have a parent page in which our header, footer and nav reside, and my Jquery code is called from that window, loaded via an IFrame.My problem is that if one is working in a child window, the parent window doesn't recognize that the system is in use, and will automatically engage at the allocated time.I've tried everything under the sun I can think of and nothing works properly. My event handler is working, and it does call the parent window function, but the timer is not being reset.
I have this function in the parent window:
<script language="javascript" type="text/javascript"> function window.reportChildActivity() { SESSION_ALIVE = true; [code]....
I have...a dynamic populated select box several input boxes a submit button form fields are loaded initially using cookies several dynamic populated divs
I want... start loading the content of my DIVs after all FORM elements have been loaded completely (= filled with data, select boxes are populated)
I create custom HTTP handler for auto generating file and I want to tell IIS7 to serve current request like normal static file because I need to use IIS and web.config file to control compression setting and any other HTTP header of current requested file.I know. there is an internal class called StaticFileHandler in ASP.net. But I cannot access it. Or you have any other way to work like this.
I've googled a bit for the exact order of all gridview events relative to and where inbetween page events. The only Microsoft article: [URL] is not very clear. I'm especially interested in the gridview row_command event relative to page events.
i just want to use a calendar with events like date selection update,delete,creat events. and i want to do this with sql server 2005. I started my project with webApple.
and the secound, i just cand find whats wrong in this
I have been tasked with designing a scheduling system to fit into an existing application. At present I have a SQL Table - Tasks which have a StartDate and EndDate column.
I have a requirement to set the Task as a recurring task i.e. Replace server backup tapes every day, or, Order more stationary once a month.
I am lost on how to design this. I can't seem to find a proper example on the net. can someone point me in the right direction.
I have a page with 2 Controls, a ListBox and a DropDownList.
In the DropDownList you can select a PLACE.
In the ListBox you can see all DOCUMENTS for the selected PLACE.
If you select a DOCUMENT, the program does a redirect on the selected DOCUMENT.
So, there are an AutoPostBack and an Event (if you select another Item) on both Controls.
The problem is: If I select a PLACE, then I select a DOCUMENT (the pdf document is opened), and then I go back on the page and I want to select another PLACE, the program doesn't select another PLACE, but opens the old DOCUMENT, because there are 2 Events, one to change the PLACE and one to open the DOCUMENTS.
i have found out a way to find controls on content pages by using
var txt = $('input[id$=TextBox1]'). But how to access html elements like "<p>" tag and others in jquery when the html elements are in content page only.
Just I started learning MVC pattern, of course i am learning it from Microsoft's website.Just i want to gather quiz information from the experts. My understanding is (correct me then and there)
1 ) MVC does not support server side events, but supports client side events. If it supports client side events, I need html page with jQuery/Javascript (view), but most of the example I absorbed is to display the information(model) in view, I did not see any client side event handling happens in view.
2) Except ViewState and controlState, MVC supports Sessions, Application State management, Cache management.
3) When request goes to MVC engine, the routing module routes the request that is picked up by the controller. The controller in executes the appropriate action and returns the appropriate view.
Is there a technical reason for the existence of Page.PreLoad or is this just convenience to have a place where you can neatly place code that always have to be executed before the Load code? Is there a difference between adding code in the PreLoad event handler and adding code at the top of the Load event handler? And what would be a typical scenario where you use PreLoad?
I'm trying to write a custom filter for Dynamic data that will allow me to run like type queries on entity columns. For example searching for john on name field to returen johnson, johns etc.
I'm trying to override the IQueryable GetQueryable(IQueryable source) method on the QueryableFilterUserControl class. To filter my results. Does anyone know the best way of achieving this?
If this were and IQueryable<T> it would be easy as I could return the results of a .Where() clause.
There is an ApplyEqualityFilter(IQueryable source, string Column.Name, object value) method on the QueryableFilterUserControl class but this performs a direct comparison.
I would like to know how to change the languages for web project. Because my project should need to meet the requirement of language need to be changing according to the selection of languages from dropdown. How it is interacting with many of languages.
So, most of the MVC examples I find are C#, so I seem to have trouble finding samples ....(bear with me, I'm a newbie) with that said, if anyone can point me in the right direction,
I simply want to be able to apply htmlattributes / styles to my select box
