Architecture :: Handle Different Login Scenarios?

Mar 23, 2010

I need to handle 2 different scenarios.1. Webapplication in a Servercenter. A user can authenticate against a companydatabase with an user account that is stored inside the companytable. We provide services to different companies, and every company has their own database. A management database contains the relation of company to database and server. A user need the companyname, username and password to logon.2. Webapplication on a company serverThe services are hosted on hardware inside the companynet. There is only one company to handle, so that a user doesn't need a companyname for login.Whats the best approach for this problem?

Architecture :: Handle BL Cache For Multiple Web Applications?

Mar 27, 2010

I recently received a project that contains multiple web applications with no MVC structure. For starters I've created a library (DLL) that will contain the main Business Logic. The problem is with Caching - If I use the current web context cache object than I might end up with duplicate caching (as the web context will be different for every application).

I'm currently thinking about implementing a simple caching mechanism with a singleton pattern that will allow the different web sites (aka different application domains) to share their "caching wisdom". I'd like to know what is the best way to solve this problem.

Architecture :: How To Handle An Excel Stream And The Http Response

Jan 27, 2011

I'm using .net 3.5 and am currently creating a web application used to generate a report through Aspose.CellsActually, the page is composed in a form where I get the configuration of the report I have to generate. The "generation" button is in an update panel. When I click on it, the "generation" button is hidden and a progress bar appears. When the excel file is generated, I save it in a memory stream and I send it back to the aspx page where I change the headers to allow the file's download.

Architecture :: How To Handle Multiple Users Changing Same Data

Mar 24, 2010

I have a form which allows users to modify data, what's the best way to handle that so if two or more users try to make an update i get the data in there properly without overriding the new stuff. for example if name and bday are in the form, user1 changes name but not bday, same time user2 accesses the form, the original name and bday are there, user1 saves, but when user2 saves, since he had the original name value the original is saved over the first.

C# - Handing Complex Validation Scenarios In MVC?

Jan 15, 2010

I'm been working on a GetRuleViolations() method for my User class, but I'm getting a little hung up on on something:

What happens when different actions require different business rules?

My User table has the following columns: Id, UserRoleId, Username, and Password. Several actions involving User are possible (create new user, edit user, set/reset password, and log in), and the business rules for each are not always the same.

For example, when users log in, they are required to enter a password, but when admins create a new user, entering a password is not even an option. And in the case of setting/resetting a password, the password needs to be entered twice, and the two values need to be an exact match. What is the best way to handle this complexity? Is there some kind of design pattern to allow the right GetRulesViolations() method to be selected for the right circumstance?

Configuration :: Handle Windows Authentication Login Popups Cancel Click?

Nov 2, 2010

I have simple web application called App that is secured with Windows Authentication. I have set identity impersonate to true in web.config. There is only one page (Default.aspx) in App directory. When user enters the site ex.: http://localhost/App the login window pops up. When user clicks Cancel, IIS redirects to page with an error 401.2. I want to redirect to http://localhost/App/app_start/login.aspx. App_start is an aplication that is secured with Forms Authentication. I tried to handle programmatically the redirection by adding Application_EndRequest method in Global.asax file. But when user clicks Cancel the Application_EndRequest is not being fired. When user successfully logs in the method is being fired. Is there any way to handle error 401.2 programmatically or maybe in a different way?

Application_EndRequest code:

if (Response.StatusCode == 401)
{
Response.Clear();
Response.Write("You don't have access to content.");

.net - Multiple Forms Authentication Scenarios On The Same Website?

Mar 23, 2011

Until now, I've always used straightforward Forms Authentication on my community websites, and that one method of authentication, with that one cookie/ticket has been used throughout the website (with varying roles per user also stored in the ticket). I haven't used the built in LogIn controls and instead have always just created my own login/registration form, and written the code to insert into (and authenticate against in the log-in scenario) my bespoke 'Users' table. So I've essentially just been utilizing the .IsAuthenticated() method (to determine if a user is logged in), referenced the UserData property in the ticket (to determine which roles the user belongs to), and set up the 'location' restrictions in the Web.config, so the log-in page is automatically shown for pages that require 'member access' etc.

With my new project, I will need user registration/login for the Forums/Community part of the website only. I then need an additional user registration/login for the Recruitment part of the website (not related in any way to the users that sign up/log in to the Forums/Community part of the site).I was wondering if this possible, and if so, how to go about it?e user registration/sign-in pages might look the same, but my underlying code would would create accounts/authenticate against different DB tables.

Security :: Use Login Control And In 3-tier Architecture?

Jan 19, 2010

I am creating the web site (storing the employee Info) in this I am using 3-tire architecture ASP 2.0. But I am confusing that how to use the login control in this and how it wills validate the username and password with table store in my database. In this I have two table (fk_tbluser and tblemployee). In fk_tbluser all named user will store (username and password) and in the tblemployee(employee no and password) table I am storing the password of employee login.

When Named user will login in the portal it has to pass the Admin in the username and password which stored in the fk_tbluser table.

E.G: username : admin
password : admin password which stored in the fk_tbluser table.

When employee will login in the portal it has to pass the employeeno as username and password which stored in the tblemployee table.

E.G: username: 000001
password : employee(000001) password which stored in the tblemployee

Architecture :: How To Design A Centralized Business Or Service Authentication Architecture

Sep 22, 2010

i want to create a centralised business or Service authendication architecture in .net. for example, we have a clients like c1, c2, c3, c4, ... etc. everybody logins seperatly as well as grouply. ie, if client "C1" logins [with login authentication] he can access c2 , c3, c4 also without login authendication. So its like a google. if we enters gmail account, we can access orkut, picasa like that.. i need the cetralised architecture.

And, client "c1" seperately asks seperately how will be the authendication architecture.

so give me the single solution for both these two scenarios. how will be the architecture for these two and how is the Data Base (Login) Structure.

Architecture :: Entity Model Design Framework And N - Tier Architecture

Dec 25, 2010

recently i've studied on ADO.NET's Entity Model Framework and say 'wow' as ORM is one of the fevourite pattern i practice..but suddenly i've come to an ambiguous situation when i'm going to start. i usually follow the following 3-tier architecture..

1. UI Layer
2. BLL - business logic layer
3. DAL - Data Access Layer
a. DTO / DAO
b. Gateway (contains the sql query/stored procedure and connection with DB)

now when i'm going to use the Entity Model Design,where the DBML/ .edmx File should be placed? Because many a times i'm using the DBML file as DTO because of the mapped objects.. in the same time, sometimes DBML ( .edmx file in .NET 4.0) contains CRUD methods and stored procedured method as well as methods with different selection operations,- which should be in Gateway. so where the .edmx file should be placed !?!! IN DTO namespace !? or in Gateway namespace!

moreover sometimes there is no need for the BLL which breaks the rules of inter-layer-communication (UI > BLL > DAL.Gateway)! what makes me confuse is, what should be the ideal n-tier architecture when i'll use the ADO.NET Entity Model Design Framework

The thing is how to i associate an asp.net login to a customer name in my table so that the CustomerID can be used through the application by knowing who is logged in.

- Accept the request call with xml

- Check xml against the schema
