I need to schedule a task in my system with windows task scheduler and vbscript(or js also).
I want to send an http request for an aspx page in my project fom the vbscript file .This aspx page contains some database related operations.
That means when the task scheduler is started it should update my project db.
I got this link for reference
[URL]
But it is not working for me.
Can i use javascript instead of vb script?
My project is in C# and backend is sql server express 2008

Which process running on an IIS web server is responsible for the creation of w3wp.exe worker processes for each asp.net application?

When I hit the run button (in my Default.aspx), a process starts (this process contacts a webservice to get some files, etc). How do I: Ensure that only a single process is running at a time (i.e. if I refresh the browser, I don't want to start the process a second time)Track progress - there are 4 points of the process (at 25%, 50%, 75%, 100%) that I want to track, and when each part completes, I want to update the progress bar. I have a status object for the running process, but the question is how to update the progress bar automatically? Do I need to use threads to achieve the above two?

This is a really odd situation, so hopefully I can explain it well enough.
I am deploying an ASP.NET 4 webforms application to a Windows Server 2003 SP2 server running IIS6.
Here's the problem -- when the application pool recycles its worker process (w3wp.exe), about 80% of the time, I will get an ReflectionTypeLoadException error trying to access any page in the app that contains an EntityDataSoure every time I try to view it.
However (this is the interesting part) -- the other 20%, it works just fine. I've actually resorted to turning off recycling the worker process entirely for this application pool and just add/remove whitespace from web.config forcing the site to recompile until I get a "good" w3wp.exe.
If this isn't clear, what I'm saying is: the actual worker process doesn't work at all for pages containing an EntityDataSource for about 4/5 times it starts, but still manages to serve all other pages just fine. Once you get a worker process that manages to serve a page with an EntityDataSource, it works every time until that process gets recycled.
My question is, how can I debug this? It works fine on my dev machine, it works fine on the server as long as you get a good process running, but iisreset or a server restart or anything that kills the worker process is almost guaranteed to cause the site to not come back up and throw this ReflectionTypeLoadException.

I am not sure exactly which topic this post should go under...
Here is what I am doing.
I have a web form where a person will edit their blog article. At some point, once they are done editing, they can click a button "Publish Blog Now".
Once the blog is published in the click event on the server side I am doing a query to get a list of subscriber email address.
These are people who subscribed to this blogger and wish to receive an email notification whenever this person publishes a new blog.
What I just realized today is that my hosting provider only allows me to send a maximum of 200 emails per hour. Which means in my loop I need to sleep for roughly 20 seconds between each email notification sent. But I dont want the user who clicked the publish button to have to sit there and wait while that process is going.
How can I return to the user but yet continue to run some code on the server side to send out the emails in the background even if user closes web browser?
This is an ASP.NET web application targeting .net 4.0 and I am using c# as my back-end language and VS2010 as my development tool.

I am in the process of creating an audit trail system. Simple enough. Certain fields require audit trail. What is the best design concept to allow this to work in multiple applications without having to change much? I would of course leave it to the admin of the site to add what fields should be audited, but the logic is the problem. Would implementing the interface IComparable be a place to start? My initial thinking is to compare 2 arrays against eachother and do an insert of what fields are in question. Array1 are the fields in the form, array2 are the fields from the sql table that require auditing.

My web application currently requires users to upload files, after which I take it for "further processing". This processing is VERY time consuming and can take a while before the control gets back to the user. I would like to run this in the background and not have the user wait until this completes.
I know this question has been asked in this very forum before but I'm not able to understand or I'm not able to proceed in the right direction. My understanding is there are a few ways I can go about this
a) create a BackgroundWorker process in my Global.asax file that will spawn a process and take care of the activity.
b) create a web service that will do the processing for me .. (how?)
c) Use Ajax (Again how?)

I have some logging that has to be done, which are some database update or inserts.
However this logging is of no importance to the user, so I only want to process the data/logs after the page is completed for the user.
As of now, if I process the data while the page is loading, I go from 1.4 to 2.0 speed (server side time processing of code), which is quite a bit comparing it is of no use to the user.
So I want this code only executed after that the page is complete.
I've been checking out Ajax, async pages etc, but the problem is it still gets executed before the page is rendered to the client, which means the client will have to wait longer then it is not being processed.
I've been checking out Threadpool.queueBackgroundWorker, however if I get it correct, this will still be executed before the page is shown to the user, as it has to complete before the prerender.
Then I thought about creating a new thread, and do the processing there, which would not have my page waiting to complete the data/logging.
However when I have 100 or 200 users loading pages at the same time, then that would mean I would be creating 200 threads on those loads, which I doubt will be good for performance. So if I want to solve this, I would have to create my own threadpool and only assign for example a max of 40 threads to it which can process the data.
All I want to get done, are some update/inserts into database after the page is rendered and shown to the user. I don't want the logging to slow down the pageload for the users obviously. I want that logging or no logging makes no difference to the pageloadtime for the user at all.

I have a stored procedure which fetches data after joining 8-9 tables and inserts that into a temp table. It was running fine till now, but now when the amount of data fetched have exceeded 20000, the SP is breaking. I have debugged the sp and found that this main query is failing after returning arround 15000-16000 records.
The error message says Transaction (Process ID) was deadlocked on lock resources with another process and has been chosen as the deadlock victim. Rerun the transaction. I know what is deadlock, but when i checked with SP_LOCK stored proc i only found that my process is running on database only. So how is this getting deadlocked when there are no other processes running simultaneously on server.

I need to develop an application, which will get records (orders) from one application and process them. The updates to this records (order updates) will be sent back to the source application for end customer reference. I'm planning to achieve this data synchronization at the database level using triggers and stored procedures to insert database between the 2 databases.
But, the issue is I have to deploy this application in 3 different customer sites and I have to change the database names (cannot use the same database name) in each deployment manually. Because of this deployment issue, I was thinking of handling this within the asp.net application where I can store the db name in the database and then build the query within the application, but I dont want to do it as building queries like that doesnt look very professional.

I am logged in as the administrator when I installed an application named pdflatex.exe on my server. This application works as a converter from LaTeX input file to Pdf file. I host an Asp.net MVC 3 application running under an Application Pool Identity with Load User Profile = True. The Asp.net MVC 3 code contains a code that executes pdflatex.exe using System.Diagnostic.Process instance as follows:
Process p = new Process();
p.EnableRaisingEvents = true;
p.Exited += new EventHandler(p_Exited);
p.StartInfo.Arguments = "-interaction=nonstopmode " + inputpath;
p.StartInfo.WorkingDirectory = @"c:mydomain.comworking";
p.StartInfo.UseShellExecute = false;
p.StartInfo.FileName = "pdflatex.exe";
p.Start();
p.WaitForExit();
From the scenario above, the web application runs under a restricted acount but it executes an external application under a default account that I don't know. Can an application running under a less privileged account start a process executing another application under an administrative account?

Running an ASP.NET application in its own app pool on Windows Server 08 / IIS 7.
Server keeps hitting 97% memory usage and sticking there, trying to work out if that is our application's fault.
My main question is, does all of the memory used by an application get displayed as the working set for the w3wp.exe process associated to it? Our application (according to IIS7 and the worker process in task manager) is using less then 350mb. I want to know if it is possible for our application to be using 5GB of memory but only showing 350mb for the process?

What is the difference between IIS Worker process, Application pool and application domain? Do we have more than one application domains in one application pool?Does one application domain means one virtual directory?
If we have 2 virtual directories pointing to same physical folder. Will they share the same memory or different when there instances are opened in the browser? Will they be in 2 different application domains?

I am trying to config my application to use out-of-process sessionState.
<sessionstate mode="stateserver" cookieless="false" timeout="20" sqlconnectionstring="data source=127.0.0.1;user id=<user id>;password=<password>" server="127.0.0.1" port="42424" />In my web.config I get errors for the server and port attributes, telling me that server attribute is not allowed and port attribute is not allowed.
