Architecture :: Web Service To Recieve Online Order And Send To Printer?
Apr 6, 2010
I want to make sure my theory of an upcoming project will work. Online ordering form for a restuarant. Order will be for pickup or delivery. no payment online. so gather order information and call web service which lives on a computer at the restaurant, this web service will log the order information into a file then send the order information to a ticket printer in the kitchen.
I want to create a Online Exam site in ASP.NET .In that i want to display Test based on the Date and time and the user can take the test at the time set my the Teacher.
For Example:
Teacher want to take C Test for the Mid Semester Test and the test is schedule on 1 May 2010,then the test should appear on the test page on the 1st may only and the user should be able to take the test on the set time.
The problem is that if i use System time then user can change the system time and can take the test schedule in future.
So i want to know how can implement this thing.I have given many online test but dont know how they work out the time and date logic.
I have a webpage that activates a print job on a printer. This works in the localhost environment but does not work when the application is deployed to the webserver. I'm using the PrintDocument class from the .net System.Drawing.Print namespace. I'm now assuming the printer has to be available to the application on the remote server?
PrintDocument pd = new PrintDocument(); PaperSource ps = new PaperSource(); pd.DefaultPageSettings.PaperSize = new System.Drawing.Printing.PaperSize("Custom", 1180, 850); pd.PrintPage += new PrintPageEventHandler (this.pd_PrintPage); // Set your printer's name. Obtain from // System's Printer Dialog Box. pd.PrinterSettings.PrinterName = "Okidata ML 321 Turbo/D (IBM)"; //PrintPreviewDialog dlgPrintPvw = new PrintPreviewDialog(); //dlgPrintPvw.Document = pd; //dlgPrintPvw.Focus(); //dlgPrintPvw.ShowDialog(); pd.Print();
I would like to create a print button to send a .rdlc report to the users printer. Since i'm not using report viewer to view my reports using it's controls is not an alternative.
I have a button that generates a .pdf file from the report, and now i would like to make a similar button, but to print the report.
I'm planning to build "job search" website using (asp.net3.5 , c#, sql server2008,wcf,jquery,json,linq and Client-Side AJAX). my problem is that i want to build my project using the right architecture and i don't know how to do this? and should i use the design pattern too ? So,I'm looking for online training that maybe help me to learn about the architecure and design pattern and how to use them in my website project?
Our client has a Canon iR/3235 PCL5 printer that they want our asp.net mvc web application to print to. But the printer requires a department id and password interactively.
Is there a way to set the id and password in code with the application when printing to it?
i want to create a centralised business or Service authendication architecture in .net. for example, we have a clients like c1, c2, c3, c4, ... etc. everybody logins seperatly as well as grouply. ie, if client "C1" logins [with login authentication] he can access c2 , c3, c4 also without login authendication. So its like a google. if we enters gmail account, we can access orkut, picasa like that.. i need the cetralised architecture.
And, client "c1" seperately asks seperately how will be the authendication architecture.
so give me the single solution for both these two scenarios. how will be the architecture for these two and how is the Data Base (Login) Structure.
I am going to create the SAAS (Software as a service) Application. Can you please provide all the attributes that we have to consider in SAAS application (for example usability, pluggable architecture etc .. )
How architecture should be build for this project, provide sample architecture for SAAS application. This architecture should be easy to upload and upgrade or degrade the features. Error handling should be easy.
I am try to create architecture design for WCF service.
We have WCF service that we have to expose to third party so then can request with xml and get back xml response.
The wcf service should do the following:
- Accept the request call with xml
- Check xml against the schema
- Parse the xml
- Authenticate the incoming xml by username and password that will be in xml
- Send back the response
If anybody can let me know what kind of design I can use or is there any pattern available that I can take it and then extend it as per my requirement.
A picture is supposed to be worth a 1000 words, so let's see if that can shorten this post up a bit... Essentially, I'm looking into "how" to code a solution that runs on the web server within the cloud that will send a print command to a printer within office 1 (label printer).
The print job is really part of work flow within the ASP.NET web application and I would like to keep all of the code within a single application if possible. How can I go about doing this?
Due to security, I should avoid creating a new application within Office 1 that pulls data from the "cloud" and have the "cloud" be used to push the command downward. I'm really looking at this from a code standpoint within the ASP.NET app and also potentially transcending into more of a serverfault/superuser question on the printer. I'll save that for a future question there though.
I need to build a page to test online video speed.
video will be uploaded in my webserver and there is no flash play in the server. I need to have two players. one is window media player, second is a flashplayer (prefer using google player)
Page layout:
Windows media player
report of speed testing
Flash player
report of speed testing
report requirement
1.length of video
2. total time that spend to load this video (dynamic is better)
3. average download and upload speed during playing the video
I am not sure which approach I should use. I have a web application that needs to get/receive data from a third party application that is in a secure remote network. The data needs to be secure during transport. The data layers cannot be exposed and the databases will not talk to each other. The data will be received from remote application on demand, or will get at scheduled intervals.
I have looked at WCF, but not sure if this will work. Can a WCF service be used to receive data as needed from a remote sender or service? Is this a secure way of doing it? I have also looked at SFTP using some XML/XSLT, but I don't think this is the right way to go. In addition, some data may be transported from my web application to the remote application (mostly reports at first). What protocols are used to transfer data between HIPAA compliant applications?
I'm currently trying to work out the best way to build this web application, which will then be intergrated on other systems, such as WinForms, Intranets etc.
We hope to include the usual layers i.e. DAL, BLL, BOL and UI but I have been experimenting with Entity Framework 4 and WCF Data Services and managed to get something in place where I was using WCF as a gateway to EF4.
i.e. Adding a Service Reference to my project and then using the EF4 context and writing LINQ queries against the DB
e.g.[Code]....
Now with the current setup I would still need to write a DAL Class Library, that interacts with the Data Service, because as I said WCF Data Services only seems to be a gateway, I can't see where to put the code (above) in the Data Service and then how I could these methods.
My questions are: 1. How do I develop a WCF Data Service in such a way to allow this behaviour - I know how I could do it using ASMX web service, something like [Code]....
2. If I am to use WCF Data Services, how is serialization handled (if at all) - again I know how to do something in ASMX web services
3. Again, If I am to use WCF, how do I add Security and only allow my applications to access the web service - for obvious reasons
4. Would it be possible / logical to also include the Business Logic Layer into the web service?
I'm trying to better understand the life cycle of an object in the .Net framework. My companies Intranet has some custom classes that were written by a vendor that I'm trying to make some modifications to. Specifically I want to set some variables & hashtables to null when use of the object is done. For now I have this in the dispose event.
Is there any info you can point to that would be good reading on the life cycle of an object in the .Net framework? I.e. what order do the events fire in? OnInit, Initialize, finalize Dispose, etc. I have the ASP.net page lifecycle but I'm not looking for that.
I have li list with jQuery sortable attached to it. but the receive function is never executed. When I drag list item 10 to the 2nd position the way i expect this code to execute is to execute the receive function. but it never gets executed. [Code...]
I am building an ecommerce site and I struggle to find a way to check the stock levels for each order.I have created an "in house" procedure that involves the administrator having to push a "check stock" button for each item on the order but it doesn'tlook too elegant.

I have a website that is being hosted by GoDaddy.com and we're using asp.net. We are running into problems converting from local hosting to online hosting. It works completely on the localside, but we can't quite figure out all of the things we need to do to switch it over to the network side. The main issue is getting access to the webservice that was setup.
[Code]....
This first line "NPSIR_Carbon.localhost....." is not being recognized by the network side.
am doing an online computer service project. what i am looking for is an example of the contents that will be asked to the customer when he is logging an complaint. any suggestions, links will be really useful.
For example: If user "Tom" is logged-in now and observing page "1.aspx" I want to know about it. I also want to know when "Tom" stop observing that page. He can move to another page, than I know by server page request he is not any more at page "1.aspx", but what if he moves to another web site? Or closing his browser?
How can I know he has stopped observing that page.
I think I need to send Ajax requests every 10 seconds in order to check it, but what kind of request?
I have recently converted all my applications to framework 4.0 and am very happy as a whole.
I have, however, run into a bit of a bind: i have exposed quite a few web services that have methods returning datasets.
Clients immediately started complaining that the order of the tables within the returned datasets were different. I investigated and can confirm that the webmethods are indeed shuffling the tables within the datasets. The order of tables in the method result are markedly different from the table order in the code before being returned.
My question is: is it possible to hard code the order of tables within the dataset being returned by a webmethod? I know that clients should, ideally, be referencing the tables via the table names, but that is - unfortunately - not the case in the really real world.
hey folks I got a general question that maybe some of you can just weigh in. I developed an online store for a client and people place orders online for a food ordering place however I am trying to find the best way to have the orders show up for them at the store. Currently I am sending an email and an autoprint software prints it out which works most of the time but not good enough sometimes it doesn't print. Anyone had similar issues or have other alternative solutions you may have heard off? Like I said the site sends an email to the customer and the store's email account.
I want to develop my own REST service, so I've created an IHttpHandler that is configured with verb="*" and path="*", the the application in ~/MyRESTsrv/ will handle any derived URL.
This approach works good in IIS7 with "integrated mode" and apparently in IIS6 if you map all the extensions to "aspnet_isapi.dll".
Is this possible in Apache/XSP with Mono? Do I have to do something special or it will work out of the box?
