I've read somewhere that events of ASP .NET are based on View State of ASPX page. The values of submitted controls are matched with their value of view state and if any difference is found then the corresponding event is called up.
"When events are really based on view state than why events are fired even when the view state is disabled using EnableViewState=false."
It happened to add an extra Gridveiw Header in row_databound event , It did worked fine on !Postback but disappered on Page.Postback . Quick google search guided me to move the event to Row_Created event and every thing is okay .
Can any expert post some pointers , differnces between grid row_created vs row_databount with some sample table data created dynamically behaviour of both the events in !Postback and page.Postback .
I have looked all over for elegant solutions to this not so age-old question. How can I lock down form elements within an ASP.Net MVC View, without adding if...then logic all over the place? Ideally the BaseController, either from OnAuthorization, or OnResultExecultion, would check the rendering form elements and hide/not render them based on role and scope. Another approach I have considered is writing some sort of custom attributes, so as to stay consistent with how how we lock down ActionResults with [Authorize]. Is this even possible without passing a list of hidden objects to the view and putting if's all over? Other background info: We will have a database that will tell us at execution time (based on user role/scope) what elements will be hidden. We are using MVC3 with Razor Viewengine. We're utilizing a BaseController where any of the Controller methods can be overridden.
I have added a jquery datepicker on my MVC view. This view has a partial view. I need to filter my partial view based on the datepicker's selected date. I need to show buttons on partial view based on the date.
I have added partial view like this:
div id="dvGames" class="cornerdate1"> % Html.RenderPartial("Partial3"); %> /div>
I am having a ASP.net application it having three pages ,page 1,page 2,page 3,when the user navigating between this pages I want to maintain the view state in page level after postbacks(i.e.) .If a user visits page 3, passing some query loads some data .then he moves to page 1 doing some entries .after that he once again moves to page 3 now I want to display the data previously available at the time he moves to page 1, same way I want to do to my three pages up to the user logging out.
i have one method which save datatable in viewstate.i am calling this method in. page_load2. Prerenderthe page was every heavy,i did tracing of page i found due to calling of method from preprnder it doubled the viewstate sizewhat was the reseon behind this.
I have a view that displays all the records of my Roles table. I want to be able to click a Role record and have a list of users that pertain to that role displayed to the right of the Roles list. I'm sure I need to use a view model for this so I can get two sets of models in one view, but I'm not sure how to set up the view model.
Controller code:
[Code]....
Repository (userRep) code:
[Code]....
I can just as easily get the full user list with return db.Users;
So what method needs added to my repository and how should my view model look?
I am using a master page with a treeview control. I have 2 other pages Summary.aspx and Home.aspx
I want the Summary page to be loaded when I run the application but afterwards I want to load the Home.aspx page based on the selected Node change event of the treeview control.
I have placed the treeview control in master page because it has to remian the same for all my pages.
Did I do something wrong? The problem is I am not able to load the pages based on events occuring for Tree view control.
I know the basic of view state. But I dont understand the functionality of view state at a control. For example, a texbox has a property view state. what is the purpose ? what it wiil act for true or false value.
*1* report views -- 4 options -- NOT in updatepanel *2* pagination views -- 2 options -- IS in updatepanel
The situation goes as follows: Refresh WORKS in default setting but when I select *2* radio button options and refresh the page renders the state that the (1) was entered in.
I am using the session variable to hold the Pagination Viewing option but during page states, I've noticed that when a 2nd option is selected of *2* radio buttons (doesn't matter of 1st or 2nd option was initially selected) that during debugging mode the step over corrects the issue but not the right table viewing. Upon entering Page_Init selection selection index of radio button list returns to 1st option.
I am trying to incorporate AJAX in my web project for the first time and it isn't working. I don't know how to instantiate a class once and use AJAX to update the dataset numerous times before updating the database changes using a postback.
My project is to learn AJAX with a class object. Clicking the button is supposed to increment a count by one using a class to store the count. Here is my class:
[Code]....
Here is my HTML code:
[Code]....
And here are my button click event code snippets:
[Code]....
My problem is that as I step through the code (after clicking on the second button) it instantiates a new class object each time which returns a value of 2 every time. I have tried to fix the problem by putting my counter class instantiation in the pageload event using "If Not IsPostBack Then ..." but my probem there is that the button click event block of code would not recognize the cCount class - it put the blue lines under the cCount
My goal is to have the class object available to multiple events in the code behind: especially using AJAX to build records in one of my DataSet tables Does anyone know how to handle this?
1. the difference of view state and control state. 2. when & how view state is created after that what extent we can use that view state. 3. when & how control state is created after that what extent we can use that controlstate.
As a programmer how much clarification we need to know about view state and control state??
I am trying to use "viewstate" inorder to 1.get the information i type in onepage and retrieve into another page.2.so i created 2 text boxes FirstName and Lastname and a submit button in first web page.3.i want to retrieve these names in the other page for which i am writing the code for button. But i dont know exactly how to use the viewstate....i tried with request.querystring and its working. So i want to use viewstate instead request.querystring.
I have a grid view with a nested text box in it.I would like to turn view state off but the fact of the matter is when data is posted, the text boxes inside the gridview aren't available (there are no rows in the gridview on postback). Control's information is not stored in the View State (for things like selected value and .text etc.):Control state, introduced in ASP.NET version 2.0, is similar to view state but functionally independent of view state. However, control state cannot be disabled. Control state is designed for storing a control's essential data (such as a pager control's page number) that must be available on postback to enable the control to function even when view state has been disabled. I have an ASP page which displays a text box when it loads. It takes an input number, send it to the server through post back, and then displays some record in a grid view. After a number is input into the box, the server fetches some data from a database and add records to the grid view. It also contains a link column, whose URL is set to "#", so that the page isn't redirected when it is clicked.
Now I want to bind a jquery "click" event to that link. How can I do that ? I have tried that to do myself but failed, because it is not available when the DOM is loaded (since it only contains rows when a number is input through the box), and is being modified through ASP.NET Ajax post back.
In my project. I used ExtendedGridView to display stock info by location . I want to add two special column in this grid. One col is radio button field and another one is checkbox field. When user click radio button, I will show the next grid below the first grid.
When user select the checkbox, the system should allow to select multi check box and then I have to proceed in updating and show other fields.
But I never done two events in grid view. I am still finding the way to develop this requirement .
In an ASP.NET page I have added two user control with a dropdownlist each one. The selection of a dropdownlist should be changed the query to the second user control. What is the most efficient way to pass the selected value of dropdownlist to the second?I initially thought of creating a public event (public string OnClientSelectedIndexChanged) while the first user control and outsource through a public string SelectedValue the selected value of the second user control:
I have a page with a number of user controls, In one of my user controls I have a button event. I turn on output cache for the user control that has the button and vary by control using the ID property of a hidden field control in the user control. whenever I turn on the output cache my button event doesn't fire.
What I want to do is set a session value based on the selected value of a radiobuttonlist. That value will set another value on the next page. The next page can only use one session value, so I don't want multiple sessions set from the radiobuttonlist being selected multiple times. If the user makes a selection on the radiobuttonlist, and then changes the selection, how do I check if a session value exists and if it does, tHow should my code change?
Dim selVal As Integer = RadioButtonList1.SelectedValue If selVal = -1 Then Label1.Text = "Please select a Membership type." Else Select Case selVal Case selVal = 0 Session.Add("MemType0", selVal) Case selVal = 1 [code]...
As ASP.NET MVC has a pluggable view engine architecture, and XAML is an object descriptive mark-up that, given the right processor/ parser, can generate an appropriate UI...are there plans/ efforts to create a view engine that can turn XAML into HTML?
Personally, I think this would help to re-enforce the efforts the WPF/ Silverlight people have gone to in providing a means of seperating the view from the model/ business logic between designers and developers (via Visual Studio and Expression Blend)...
Seems like a logical step to me, but not knowing XAML as well as I should, I'm wondering if feasable, or even relevant.
I've googled a bit for the exact order of all gridview events relative to and where inbetween page events. The only Microsoft article: [URL] is not very clear. I'm especially interested in the gridview row_command event relative to page events.
i just want to use a calendar with events like date selection update, delete, creat events. and i want to do this with sql server 2005. I started my project with webApple.
and the secound, i just cand find whats wrong in this
