Changing The Mouse Cursor Using JavaScript?
Dec 19, 2011I have an HTML menu in which each menu item is an anchor. When the mouse hovers over the menu item I want to change the cursor to the "hand". How can I do this using javascript?

JavaScript Not Able To Convince Mouse To Change Its Cursor
Sep 21, 2010I have an ASP.NET page with an Infragistics webgrid on it. I handle the mouseover, mouseout events over the rows of the grid in a couple methods in Javascript to change the mouse cursor to the pointer and back to the default as they mouse over rows. I also toggle the color of the mouse-over'd row. When I run the page in debug locally, it works fine. When I publish to the test server, and run it outside of VS in Iexplore (8), the mouse cursor does not change. It stays the arrow. The row toggles the background color correctly, though.
I figured this was a caching issue, but when I add an alert box in the methods to display the document.body.style.cursor, it shows the cursor state in the alert correctly; it just doesn't change the mouse cursor. I've cleared the cache in the browser, deleted and republished, added GUID querystrings to the javascript file links, etc.
If I try the page on the test server in Firefox, it shows the pointer cursor correctly.

AJAX :: MaskedEditExtender Cursor Positioning Behavior For Mouse Click Different In IE
Mar 17, 2011I have a 'MaskedEditExtender' textbox for phone number on my application. On IE, when someone clicks somewhere in the middle of the textbox using the mouse, on the first click the cursor is actually placed at the first digit of the number. On the next click positions it is at the mouse position. However, on other browsers like Chrome, Firefox, etc.. on the first click of the mouse, the cursor position is at the mouse position (not at the first digit of the number). There does not seem to be any special code written to specify this behaviour. Is there a default behaviour for 'MaskedEditExtender' on IE which results in this?

Feb 3, 2010I like to change the mouse as hourglass when the user click on the "search" button until the data is loaded in a datagrid. Then change the cursor back to default. I found many posts to change the cursor to hourglass but found nothing to change it back again to default after firing the button code. So I tried the following in the page_load() event,

It works fine, the mouse changes to hourglass when i click the button and then once the datagrid is loaded it is changing it back to pointer but when i move the cursor it is again changing back to hourglass. it looks like it is working but not.

Aug 24, 2010I have a custom user control that contains within it a repeater control. Inside this repeater I programmatically add another custom user control, which contains a text box and a custom validator. This final custom user control can be added any number of times depending on the application's logic. All of this is part of a wizard step. When the user completes the step, if any of the data added to the text boxes is incorrect the validator gets fired on post back. However, because I can have any number of these controls added to the repeater, the user has to scroll down to see any of the incorrectly completed boxes.
Due to the controls being added dynamically it is not possible to use a validation summary control - I have tried!!! Therefore, is there away I can use JavaScript to position a cursor or to jump to each incorrectly completed textbox without the user needing to scroll down the page? For example, if there are 10 textboxes, and textboxes 8 and 9 have numbers inside them inside strings, then the JavaScript should jump textbox 9.

Dec 6, 2010I simply am trying to add a color to the select item background within the select elm after a user makes a selection from the select elm. The result right now is that in firefox, the colors will change, but only during selection ... after the selection has been made the background for the individual selection is still white.
This code works fine in IE but so far my efforts have been thuarted in FireFox.

P.s I made an equivalent javascript method and made some attempts at it, but the result is still the same. The background color of the item is changed ... but only is visible when making a selection, NOT after the selection is made.

When a value is selected in the dropdownlist (outside the gridview) I want to chaneg the selectedValue and selectText of every dropdownlist in my gridview. This is what I have tried:

AJAX :: Unable To Cascading Dropdown When Changing Value With A Javascript Event
Mar 15, 2011I'm back with my CascadingDropdown problems.
This one must be the last but not the less annoying.
I have a set of dropdowns ruled by 3 CascadingDropDowns extenders.
I would like to change the value of these dropdowns by javascript.
This works for the parent dropdown but not for the others.
Here is the javascript code used :
$find(element_name).set_SelectedValue(valeur,valeur);
$find(element_name)._onParentChange(null,true); // still wonder what are the parameters for...
This code does not give me any error but nothing change on display.
The strangest thing is that when I check the value of my dropdown with firebug, I get this :

And the value that I set is "D". But on the webpage, the dropdown displays a "A" which is the last selected value.
