I have developed a small website to be hosted in my client's office (intranet). This is my first website. I don't know how to deploy it.!! We can run it by copying and pasting the whole project folder in their server. But if we do like that they can modify the code whenever they need.
I have developed a web application in vs 2008(3.5 SP1) using sql 2005 as backend ; What all softwares need to be installed to deploy this web application on client's production server?
I finished My web Site on my local pc and it works goodNow I want to upload it to server i get space from mochahost.net web siteAnd i want to upload the web siteWhat Files Should i Upload ??I'm using sql server 2008 as my database system and using linq to control the database..
i try to used vs2010 build a mvc2 website, just as a testing. so, i include the jquery script file and some css files, it works well in the vs2010. how ever, when i deploy it to iis7/windows 2008 r2, i found all the css files ("/content/*.css") can run well, but the image files ("/img/*.gif") and script files ("/script/*.js") were absence. in fact, the website runs except the image files & script files.
I have source-version of project and i need to deploy it on IIS. General project it properly deploy using VS2008, but issue is, if new revision is created then i need to point new source to deploy web-site. In this case i need to remove created virtual dir for previous version. Is this possible to toggle virtual directory between two sources. I think one solution is to change virtual directory path to new one.
I was commissioned to write a search asp.net page for a company. Page works great, they finally ask me to deploy to the web server. I RDP out to the web server, and instead of finding a normal deployment, I see all the aspx pages along with their code-behind files. They do not pre-compile their pages.
So in an environment like this, how do I deploy my asp.net page? I can get pages to run that don't have dependencies on other things, but this particular page uses Linq. So in my web project, I have a dbml file, and it's generated pages. I have put the dbml and related files on the webserver. The page fails when it encounters the using datacontext statement.
I developed a test application using VS 2008 (ver: 9.0.30729.1. sp) and .net work (ver:3.5 sp1) using master pages, style sheets, ajax extenders etc.
I moved the whole website to another machine running VS Team System 2008 (windows xp) with the same above versions. The functionality of the application works fine, but the stylesheet seems to be affected. I have centered the whole application (fixed 960px). But when I ran the same app in new machine running windows xp the content area is getting floated or left justified. Is there anything that I need to take care when I move from one os to the other. What is causing this behavior? I tested using IE 8.
I am developing the web application in Asp.net 2008 under WinXP SP2 32bit. I am able to publish it in the local system and Test server. When i move this to production sever i am facing problems. The production environment OS is Windows Server 2003 Standard 64bit. When i am accessing login page i am getting this error "../../login.aspx/ has not been pre-compiled and cannot be requested". What could be causing the error message? Any IIS settings, or .NET 2.0 settings which prevents IIS from loading the compiled files?
I asked a question in another forum about SQL Server 2008 R2 Developer Edition and the number of simultaneous users it supports. I was told that there was no limit on the SQL Server 2008 R2 Developer Edition itself with regard to the number of simultaneous users that could be connected but that Windows 7 has a limit of 10 simultaneous logged in users. So my first question lead me to another question. 10 users is fine for debugging and small testing but what route do I take when my site goes public and needs to service more than 10 users at once? Am I even supposed to be running a public website on a Windows 7 Operating System or is that a job for Windows Server 2008 R2? If I purchase Windows Server 2008 R2 do you purchase a license for a specific amount of simultaneous users?
I am developing a website in ASP.NET. I wanted to know how can I give a static path to my website on my local mahcine such that it will always be deployed on port number. For eg: in php, the path can always be http://localhost/websitename
but in ASP.NET, whenever, I debug the website for testing, it is always deployed to a new port number. This prevents me from testing my script which can only be given a static name in Greasemonkey.
I have an application which has a website and a project. The project contains an executable file which I'm trying to run as a process from the website's Global.asax file's application_start(). When I run this application from localhost, everything runs smoothly but when I deploy the application on IIS, application_start's code is executed and I can see the process name in the taskmanager but I cannot see the window which the console application normally starts in (when i run the application on localhost) and neither is the code executed.
Here's what I'm doing:
-- copied website and project in wwwroot -- made a virtual directory of the website -- when i run the website, I see the process in taskmanager but the code is not executed.
I am new to deployment and IIS, and would really appreciate I someone could tell me what i'm missing
i am facing an issue with crystal report when i deploy my web application in client side. I have a web application developed in visual studio 3.5. I am using Visual Studio 2010 and therefore have RDLC 2010 so developed couple of reports but when I run the project within developer machine and tries to export in Excel it works fine. But when I deploy my project on UAT machine (IIS) it simply refuses to export with the following error"The file you are trying to open 'myreport[1].xls' is in a different format than specified by the file extension. Verify that the file is not corrupted and is from a trusted source before opening the file."then it ask do u want to open anyway...when you select YES then it comes simply blank.
I have around 100 rdl report files...what i have found in google is -> open RS Admin site upload each report...doing this manually takes a lot of time... We don't want to use Target report server url method and clicking deploy option to deploy the reports or report project onto the report server...because we are not provided with such production server url information...!! In client perspective...We just give the reports as a rar file...now client will have to extract the report files...and what should be the next step...!! Is there anyway to deploy or upload all the reports at a time...!!
I built my ASP.NET website using vs2008 professional.

I've created one web application in ASP.NET - 2.0 Now, I want to deploy it in my localhost itself Is it posible to do so, if yes How it can be achive without having server myself
We have a .Net solution for a website, consisting of 5 projects, and there are a few(less than 10) developers working on the solution. We deploy almost on a daily basis. The question is, how to setup the SVN repo to support this scenario (the daily deploy), also mentioning that not every commited file should go to production, there is a QA check before deploying.
