C# - Webservice Complex Types And Class Inheritance - Use The Properties Of The Base Class?

Then defining aClientArgs as a sub-class:

Returns the following WSDL fragment for the save_client args:

So it appears that the .NET WebService is not treating inherited properties as arguments/variables for purposes of a web service. How do I get .NET to also use the properties of the base class?

Using Profile propertiseAs aspnetdb.mdf and aspnetdb_log.ldf are supposed to get created automatically, but only aspnetdb.mdf is getting created log file is not created when i run application and get above error.

What we see is a call to GetProperties or GetProfile each time we access Profile. <our custom profile property name> - whats the recommended way to do this?

Mar 23, 2011I am working in a Silverlight 4 + RIA Services application. On the server side I am using Entity Framework and SQL Server. The user authentication is performed in the application using the default ASP.NET Membership Provider.
I am also using some profile properties to store some user preferences. Unfortunately I came across a situation where I have to change one of this properties in all users.
Altought I am using EF to manage data persistence, the ASP Membership provider tables are not in my entities diagram, since everything I must do regarding membership is performed using the objects available on the provider.
So I was thinking to use this objects to change the user prefrences, but my question is about what happens if something fails? Is there any transaction object I could use on the Membership objects to perform an atomic operation?
I know EF supports transactions, but in this case I would have to add the asp.net membership tables to my diagram.. only for that operation.

May 13, 2010I'm trying to store some business objects in a SQLProfileProvider Profile property, however my business objects use public properties, not fields. This means I can't serialize as binary (correct?) so I'm serializing as XML. I've got the basic XML.Serialization attributes on the business objects, basically just XMLRoot and XMLElements with Type properties and an XMLArray attribute for a collection<T>. When I look at the data in the aspnet_Profile table, sure enough, it looks like an XML representation of my BOs:

Additionally, it works fine while the user is logged in.However, if the user logs out and logs back in, the profile property is a new instance of the BO, not what was saved in the profile. What am I missing here?

MVC :: Can't Reference To Some Properties In Model Class
Mar 31, 2010I'm reading a bit of Pro ASP.NET MVC Framework and following a few tutorials written in the book. In the very first tutorial, creating a MVC site for dinner (PartyInvites), I encoutered this problem. While I try to reference some properties from Model class, the compilation error occured. Eg. the following code failed.

CS1061: 'object' does not contain a definition for 'Name' and no extension method 'Name' accepting a first argument of type 'object' could be found (are you missing a using directive or an assembly reference?) I imported the Model folder into the controller too. I dunno what I'm missing here. Sorry, if it sounds a bit umm hard to understand cuz I just started picking up MVC this morning. Looking for any input.

I am using decoratoe pattern to set these peoperties dependingon the message type. There is another Interface IBaseMessage which has a method DisplayMessage() and a class BaseMessage which implements the interface. This class has a definition of the view

Chained Base Class Properties Not Injecting
Apr 2, 2010I am successfully injecting base class properties with spring.net with just a class that inherits from a base abstract class. Lets say Class MyClass : MyBase, and I am successfully setting a property like this:

Where MyBaseClassProperty is a property on the base class. Now I have another abstract class between the old base class and the instantiable class and I am trying to set properties on both the abstract classes. So MyClass : MyNewBaseClass and MyNewBaseClass : MyBaseClass. I have an additional property on the new base class (MyNewBaseClassProperty) and I am trying to inject it like this:
