Login not working after publishing asp.net website
I am used default login control, form based authentication and default sqlmembership provider.but in local my site working fine, when i publish it locally in iis means, the login is not working , i don't know what is the reason?
I've published my website and tried to host in my localsystem.Im getting the login page but cannot login to my application. When i click the submit button in the login page, the page simply refreshes and comesback. The page is not showing any error like 'invalid username or password' which i've set for not proper login
I am using visualstudio 2008 and iis 5.1.What could be cause of this error ??
I have published a website when is a plain page with login and CreateUserWizard control in it. I have used the "aspnet_regsql.exe" file to configure my database such that there I can see the tables like dbo.aspnet_users. I have also added a the following to the connectionstring in web.config
<connectionStrings> <add name="ApplicationServices" connectionString="Data Source=***location of DB***; Initial Catalog=***DB Name***; User ID=***My ID***; Password='***My Password***';" providerName="System.Data.SqlClient" /> </connectionStrings>
I kept getting the "
Validation of viewstate MAC failed. If this application is hosted by a Web Farm or cluster, ensure that <machineKey> configuration specifies the same validationKey and validation algorithm. AutoGenerate cannot be used in a cluster.
" whenever I try to create user account using the CreateUserWizard control.
I hv a query regarding publishing the website. I use aspnet2.0 and for uploading we use filezilla.
Whenever I make any changes to my website (either in aspx or aspx.cs page), I need to upload the entire website (along with my bin folder, after publishing)again otherwise my site just doesnt work. Its very time consuming.
I am trying to move my web application from my computer to a server by publishing as a web site. But, after publishing, the user controls defined in the designer files are no longer recognized by the code behind.
When I try to upload my website I have created to [URL] then test it I cannot see any home page or anything. Just a list of pages etc I have uploaded, Its like im looking into a FTP server. I publish using visual studio 2010, I have tried both Copy website over to my FTP server and Publish website under the build button.
The file system I'm publishing to is a not hosted by me, but by my university. IT here offers students their own web directory to host a website. My intention is to use it to host projects for classes and demo them for my professors. You can enter in a specific link in any browser to go to this website and view it as long as there is a file named 'index.html' in the directory with some presentable html code.
So here's the problem. I want my website to be written using ASP.NET and when I use VS2010 to publish my ASP.NET website to the 'File System,' I cannot simply open up my browser, type in the normal link, and have it display. It just shows up as a list of files in the directory and I can see all my source code for the web site
After months of work I thought I had finished with my web application using VS2008 with CSSFriendly menu. On publishing, the menu did not work and I got all sorts of errors. Deleting CSSFriendlyAdapters.browser in App_Browsers folder improved the layout but the menu was not rendered with css even though the html source shows thet are linked. On desperation, I changed the target Framework from 3.5 to 2.0 and then back to 3.5 with no avail.
In one of webforms user must enter the percent of tax and then I convert it to the float number and finally save it into database. here is a sample:
Dim txtMyPercent txtMyPercent=Convert.ToSingle(txtPercent.text) label.text=txtMyPercent insert into(txtmypercent)
This peice of code, works perefect while runs via Visual Studio 2010, however after publishing, numbers are converted to integer. Thus it can't be inserted into Sql server database .... Server OS: Windows 2003 x64 IIS: 6 .Net Framework: 4.0
I'm starting a new web site which involves a Novell/LDAP login to enter. Just installed VS2008, using framework 2.0, configured web.config to use authentication using form login.aspx which is the LDAP form we reuse from app to app. Debug is enabled, in form and in VS options. I'm running with localhost web server. Problem is debug doesn't work in the login form, does not stop at breakpoints I put in page_load event. Tried to bypass the login form to make sure, turns out debug will work on some startup form I made but does not when I redirect to login form. It seems VS2008 does not like something in my login form.
I created a local copy of my website, so I could work on it in Visual Studio 2010. I am using a SQL membership provider that is running on discountAsp.net's SQL Server 2008 R2. The website works fine online, but when I run the website from Visual Studio, I can't log in. It's strange because if I open up my website in Visual Studio I can still use my admin pages to add and delete users, view users info, change passwords, etc., but I just can't get authenticated. This just makes it hard to test my pages that are restricted to certain users and roles.
I am a newbie to asp.net and have recently been building a web... I have a login control on the main page which when logged in verifys the user and redirects them to the home page... I published this to the server previously and it worked. Today when I tried logging into my system however I got the following error message:-
"Your login attempt was not successful. Please try again."
The accounts did work before but since I have uploaded a newer version of my program onto the server the above message is displayed. I have been on many websites and read previous forums with suggesstions to add <roles> in the web.config file however the login control worked before and I have not changed anything on the site apart from a different page that doesnt affect the login.
Few points to make... the login control is using the asp.net configuration pre built tables it generates for you, I have created the users and roles inside of asp.net configuration so it is not a custom membership... I am at a complete loss as how to get my login control to work having tried to insert roles into the webconfig file.
note that i can successfully connect to the db using the user 'SQL2008_736225_aldookandb_user' when i use a remote connection tool, such as sql server managment studio
And you can reproduce this problem, see it live and see the stack trace by doing the following:
A) :
1.go to my website [URL] 2.login as username: Teacher1 password: 123456 (Note that you have been logged in successfully) 3. go to the link in the upper right corner where it says (Teacher Page) 4. booooom!
B):
1. go to the website and create an account as a "Teacher" 2. do steps 2 to 4 from above and same problem occurs
i have deployed my new website in IIS when i tested in browser its working fine but its not working on network systems,i have my old website with port 3185 and new one is 3186 , the old one is working fine but the new web is not working
I developed and deployed a web application using ASP.NET,C# successfully. The application was running perfectly until few days back. [NOTE: It still works fine on local machine (tested using both development server and IIS)] What happens now is: The website opens perfectly. After few operations which involves database interactions, in all the pages, the pages stop responding. I mean, after a few clicks, if I try another operation the page starts postback for unlimited time period and never gets rendered and a following message is given: The connection was reset: Firefox 3.5... IE cannot display the web page: IE 7, 8 There is no database connectivity issues. I checked event logs on the web server and found few unhandlled exceptions, I corrected those. Now the event log doesn't show any error. But the problem is same.
I tried accessing the page from web server's browser, everything works fine. Even my boss can browse all pages with no problem (both have Win Server installed). Other machines (mostly XP) can't browse after sometime(as described above). I checked the memory usage, cpu time - NO ISSUES.
I`m using Microsoft office document imaging library (MODI) in my web application.
I`ve a page where a user uploads an image file and the server code converts this image into text form using MODI. Everything works fine when the website is running through visual studio but when i run it through local iis then i receive an exception.
my code is:
[Code]....
The code is perfectly fine because it works fine through visual studio otherwise when run through IIS i receive an exception at the last line written above saying.
Object isn`t initialized and can`t be used yet.
i didn`t catch the exception at last line because trying to figure out whats exactly wrong.
I am writing some IO functionality into my ASP.net page (C#). Basically what Im trying to do is, to get a list of file/folder names from a network share and display them on the webpage.
It works great in my DEV environment, on my machine, but it does not work on the published version on my IIS machine. I have not been able to get it to throw an error (I'll keep trying in the meantime). But, it would seem to me that it is some sort of permissions issue. I have given the ASPNET user admin access on the network machine, that the folder share is located. I have added NETWORK SERVICE (with FULL access) to the security rights of the shares Im trying to access.
i don't know if it is from the web.config or if i missed something also i notes that the site in is not working in firefox browser (HTML code will appear instead of design) but in internet explorer the design works fine but without the asp controls
have a problem when published web application in IIS.
First of all, I converted my web application from 2008 version in 2010 version of visual studio, but I didn't change the framework, so framework is 3.5. This application is writen in c#.net.
I published it succesfully in IIS. The problem is that this application run , but when I try to login , it remain in the same page , so I cant login ,cant go inside my application. It seems like the server redirect the browser in the same conten page.
I have developed a website using visual studio. Now i want to deploy the same on server having windows server 2008 o.s. and IIS 7. When i copy the website and paste it into wwwroot folder of iis its not working. What settings need to be done so that website can be accessed from iis.
