Apr 28, 2010i have dsigned a website in my desktop in my company. i have installed sql server 2005 and visual studio 2008.everything is working fine if i host my website from my workstation.but my desktop is not accessible to all the departments in my company so i have to host my website on one of the company's sql servers.let us assume that "isaserver" is my company's sql server where i want to host my website.now, what i did that i created a virtual directory in isaserver's wwwroot folder and pasted my c:/inetpub/wwwroot contents into that.but when i tried to access the website, its not working.

May 24, 2010I've created a website and now I'm trying to publish it on web server but I'm getting a lot of errors related to 'web.config' that website working fine in my VS2010 but I don't know what's the problem on the server I'm getting following error:-

If I remove whole line 6 then it show error in line 7and so on, I've use radcontrol tool in my web application but whatever I've used they are working fine on my system.

Jan 25, 2011I am developing the web application in Asp.net 2008 under WinXP SP2 32bit. I am able to publish it in the local system and Test server. When i move this to production sever i am facing problems. The production environment OS is Windows Server 2003 Standard 64bit. When i am accessing login page i am getting this error "../../login.aspx/ has not been pre-compiled and cannot be requested". What could be causing the error message? Any IIS settings, or .NET 2.0 settings which prevents IIS from loading the compiled files?

in the App_GlobalResources folder i put the 3 folder for the language that contans .resx files. its works fine when i test it from visual studio.
i have VS2008 SP1 with .net frameword3.5 SP1

I created a website on my local hard drive and now we are ready to deploy. My question is what are the recommendations for publishing websites? What steps I need to take care of? Is it possible not to deploy the "code-behind" files. Incase of hacking of windows server, I do not want somebody to see my .vb files or Is it possbile that I can convert the whole thing except aspx files in to a strong dll?

Oct 20, 2010There's a project I'm doing now which is an ASP.net 2.0 written website with SQL database. (it was just assigned to me for deployment and no contact to programmer who is AWOL :-)
Scope of project is to move everything from live site to local server and display/execute exactly the way it does on the livesite (web).
Already configured Windows 2003 server as IIS and successfully restored the database through SQL 2008.
Since I am new to ASP.net deployment this is where my trouble starts: manually copied httpdocs folder to local server, copy website through MS web developer and tried to run it on local machine http://127.0.x.x/default.aspx for the home page. from there I am getting a server error log specifically the line " <configuration xmlns="http://schemas.microsoft.com/.NetConfiguration/v2.0">"
I know I have some work to do in here I do want to call the attention of ghw123 since he
is familiar with the dynamics of IIS and moving websites. Another thing I would like to point is the local server doesn't display any IP address when running ipconfig or ping from command prompt i simply pull out the ip info from the running IIS service itself. Lastly, I need to figure out which file/folders are really running on the livesite since there are lots of them (for other purpose maybe) on the remote server it is hosted.

Mar 28, 2011In an obviously misguided effort to keep versions of a site built through vs2010 .aspx vb I copied the entire visual studio 2010 folder from its default location on my local pc to a folder on a network. I then opened the network folder version of the project in VS, made a small change to some text, built the site sucessfully and published the site sucessfully to the same place the original site was published to. However, when I try to access the site I get the "resouce cannot be found" error. In a bit of a panic I opened the original project in VS and published it...no problem the site comes up. What am I doing wrong?
