Oct 31, 2010I have deployed an web application in my system which is having public IP. I am able to log in to the application using some user id and passwords which where created earlier. But when i use another user id and pasword it is showing the below message:
"The user does not have permission to log in to the application. contact your administrator"
I have checked the database there was no changes made to set the settings for these users. It is not coming for all the users but it is coming for certain users only.

Feb 24, 2011I'm trying to allow logged user who are in department XYZ to perform some task for my third party App. I have two SQL tables named Users & UserList. The third party app (GoldMine) graps the USERNAME from the Users table and store it as UserID which I then referecnce SessionID. The UserList table has two columns (GM_UserName & Department) which I'm interested in. When a user login into the 3rd party app (GoldMine), i then compare the USERNAME (from Users table) to GM_UserName (from UserList table) and see whether GM_UserName is in = 'Dept XYZ'. Take a look at the SQL query below.

I'm able to do this.

Configuration :: Website Db Selects Runs Extremly Slow On Windows 2003 (IIS6) When No Console User Is Logged In?
May 23, 2010I have a really weird problem that I've been investigating for at least one week now. I deliver a website hosting both ASP classic and .NET 3.5 content in IIS6 on a Windows 2003 server environment with MySQL db backend. The solution has been installed on several servers (some hosted in WMWare) with no problems. On one specific server, also hosted in WMWare, the user experience great performance issues on the website. The problems are most seen when using database resources and is not limited to either .net or asp classic, but I am still not sure that the problem is only related to database calls.
Following components are involved:
IIS6 .NET FW 3.5 MyODBC 3.51 / 5.1 MySQL 4.x
Code executed on the server using all resources above runs smoothly when the IIS is not involved. The website shows times up to 2 minutes to execute code that takes 2 seconds outside the IIS. The exact same code is executed. Using profiling tools, I've seen that the great loss comes within calls to unmanaged code, for example when System.Data.ODBC namespace to calls into myodbc.dll.
The tricky part is: If at least one console user is logged in to the server, the performace problems are not seen anymore. When the user logs out, the problem appears again.I have tried to reinstall all components above, tried different versions of MyODBC, tried different website authentication methods, tried to run website under administrator privilegies, installed various MS KB's with no success.

Apr 14, 2010I am really face with a difficult problem that i have been battling for the past week. My application requires a login. I am Using asp.Net services (membership and roles) to manage members who login. The application performs very well on my local computer.
However, when i transfered it to my web hosting server (production server), I am faced with this horrible execute permission below
(The EXECUTE permission was denied on the object 'aspnet_Membership_GetPasswordWithFormat', database 'GuardwellProjectDatabase', schema 'dbo'.)
Another issue is that i am using a shared hosting site with my hosting company and on contact them with the problem, the said it is not possible to grant me execution permission.

Configuration :: Give Website Permission To See Folder On The Server?
May 13, 2010How can I give my ASP.net website permission to see this folder on the server? C:PVSWin. The website is actually running on a virtual path D:WebSitesAdco.We are running IIS ver 6.The website uses a table from Pervasive to locate Vendors. The SqlDataSource works from the VS2008 IDE which is running on the server, but if a user logs into the website remotely they get this error:ERROR [IM003] Specified driver could not be loaded due to system error 1114 (Pervasive ODBC Client Interface). This error generally indicates that the path to the DB components is not found, or is not available to the calling program, so I guess that the website does not have permissions.

The news module is made of a NEWS_ADD.ascx control and a NEWS_EDIT.ascx control. Now on the new server, when I try to edit the existing news, or try to add a new one, it says: "you don't have permission to access /manageadmin/newsadmin/tabid/72/ctl/edit/mid/376/mode/add/language/fr-FR/Default.aspx on this server."

Everything works fine during development. When I publish to local computer IIS, I cannot open the excel file. The error is:

I also refer to

to have Full Trust.
After all the settings, I do restart computer. All the steps taken just cannot resolve the problem.
I am not try using caspol utility because I think it should same as what I did using UI. Correct me if I'm wrong.

Feb 15, 2010I am writing an internal web app for a company who wont to use their existing Active Directory Logins (rather than a seperate SQL Database User Login Table).
To do this I have done the following

This seems to work on my localhost but I have a couple of questions for you guys.
1) How does this process know which active directory to authenticate against? I know in code you can do
LdapAuthentication adAuth = new LdapAuthentication("LDAP://Server");
But there seems to be no way to do this in the web.config (I'm guessing it will just use the active directory on current machine it's running on?). Is there away to specify which active directory I'd like it to authenticate against?
2) If a user tries to access this remotely (i.e. not on their native windows account) what will happen, will it just default to a login form or just throw a "Permission Denied" error?

SQL Server :: Windows Shared Hosting Error: Create Database Permission Denied In Database 'master'?

The first time I visit the site and attempt a database connection I get this error:
Exception Details: System.Data.SqlClient.SqlException: CREATE DATABASE permission denied in database 'master'.
But when I refresh, it all works fine. I'm at a bit of a loss. I don't believe I'm attempting to create a database, but I realise that the error may not really have anything to do with that. This is hosted at GoDaddy shared hosting. The database was created and I used an SQL script to create the tables initially and populate the data. My connection string works as I can pull data from the database, but I do have
a feeling it will be a web.config setting that will correct this.

How To Control The Permission-related User Interface

I use java(struts2) to do the web application before,it is easy to control this use the jsp tag or struts2 tags: For example(suppose the "do something" operation need use login):

So if a user did not login,he will never see the menu of "do something".
Now I wonder how to make it in the asp.net?
Is this controled in the xx.aspx.cs?
Configuration :: Deploying Website From Windows 7 To Windows 2003
Feb 25, 2010I'm running windows 7, so I installed on my machine the oracle client version 11.1.0.7.0 (ODP.NET - Oracle.DataAccess version 2.111.7.20) .
I'm trying to deploy an asp.net web application to a server that is running windows 2003, which has the oracle client version 11.1.0.6.0 (ODP.NET - Oracle.DataAccess Version 2.111.6.20)
In my web.config file I have:
<add assembly="Oracle.DataAccess, Version=2.111.6.20, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=89B483F429C47342"/>
(which for my surprise it compiles just fine).
Now when I compile my application and deploy it in a setup project (as pre-compiled). The start page of my web app tires to connect to Oracle and it returns the following error message:
"Could not load file or assembly 'Oracle.DataAccess, Version=2.111.7.20, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=89b483f429c47342' or one of its dependencies. The system cannot find the file specified."
Which is super weird because, cause the web.config file as shown above has Version=2.111.6.20.
Now the strange part is that if I copy the source code from the client to the server, the same code, same config file, it works just fine.
So I'm thinking that the pre-compiled version is telling the server to load Oracle.DataAccess Version=2.111.7.20, maybe in one of the dlls, not in the config file for sure.
Has anyone run into this problem?
what's the best approach to deploy to servers with different oracle client version? (I have a similar problem trying to deploy to a 64 bit machine)

Now with this user (xxxx) name I installed .net Windows Application. It was working fine. For some reasons I renamed the original windows Login user(xxxx) to different say (yyyy). Now this .net Windows Application is not working with (yyyy) and even it is not allowing me to uninstall it.
