I want to use the DataContractJsonSerializer class. This is contained within theSystem.Runtime.Serialization.Json namespace and the System.ServiceModel.Web dll.or some reason, when I add the using directive for the namespace, Visual Studio says it doesn't recognise the Json namespace in System.Runtime.Serialization.When I try to add the System.ServiceModel dll, nothing happens, which suggests to me it's already referenced. (Because nothing also happens when I try to add a reference to System.Web which is definitely referenced!)

Created a new virtual directory on my web sit in IIS 6.. set proper settings and wild card extensions... published via file system from dev environment to the server but i get a page cannot be found 404 error when browsing the site...

This is VS2010.I created the blank project with VS2010 and then copied the code (without Web.config) from the old project.
I have an asp.net webproject that I inherited from another guy here at my ccompany. Before he left, we got the site to work in dev. Now that he has gone I try and run it again and I get the following error:
Development configuration file was not found
I have changed absolutely nothing in the code.
I have a fairly big ASP.NET 3.5 website that refuses to open any page via the 'View in Browser' option of VS2010, i.e. the LocalHost facility does not work. All I get is a 'File Not Found' error.
Two other ASP.NET 4.0 sites (which are much simpler and do not have any SQL Server connections) can be viewed without any problem via the LocalHost service.

That file is in that directory on both my dev machine and the server. When i run this on my dev machine it works fine, when published to my server I get an error saying FREE3OF9.TTF is not found as a file or a resource. I have double and triple checked that the file is in fact there on my server. My application has full trust on IIS. and IIS user has full access to this folder and this file.And still I get this error. Very frustrating. This code is Not inside the Web Application but inside a DLL class library that the web application is referencing. Do I need to add any more special permissions or something?
I am developing an application which is running fine on local machine. It is using webservices and jquery's ajax to call that service. It also has some asp hidden fields. I deploy it with visual studio. It is giving me error that the resource I am looking for is not found.

My question is this.I have a statemachine workflow, this workflow works fine until a new requirement is came. The new requirement is to add a new state and event driven but this event driven is fired if the document library item is updated where the workfow is embedded. Is this posible? if so what event activity should I place?

In addition (let's say it is a workflow for processing orders), the client wants to see at what point in the workflow any given order is, indicated on the graphical workflow representation by a highlighted node or some visual queue.
All of this must be available via a web interface.
Was hoping somebody had some bright ideas for how to achieve this without writing extensive custom controls.
Does Workflow Foundation 4 offer anything itself that would assist toward this end?
I am new to workflow and just know some of its features. I want to do a project in WF. It will be a web based intranet application where user will be able to define workflow dynamically through web interface.Duration for completing a task can be many days.With these requirments I am not sure will use of WF helpful in quick development or it will increase work ?Please advice me should I try to learn WF for this project or should do it with C# and asp.net
View 1 RepliesSo I have a strange problem. I have 2 LinkButtons on a form with their OnCommand event attached. Everything works fine locally when debugging but when I publish the web site with I get the following error:
404 - File or directory not found.
The resource you are looking for might have been removed, had its name changed, or is temporarily unavailable.
I also tried the OnClick event but I get the same results.
This is being published to IIS 7.
The OnCommand is just doing a redirect. I can manually do the redirect by entering the url the same way it's passed to redirect and it works fine. I also tried putting some code in just to verify that the event really gets called on the server and it seems it doesn't. Although it does work fine locally. I also tried removing all the files from the server and doing a clean publish just to make sure I wasn't missing anything.
I have developed an Asp.Net application with backend sqlserver 2008 database. Now i want to install the MSI file in client system along with database file. In client system i want to install the sqlserver with out any sql editor. i.e The sqlserver shouldn't use for development purpose. The sqlserver must acts just like engine between application and database file. In sqlserver which edition i have to install in client system to do the above things ?

I can run normal HTML pages, but no .aspx files. If I call the aspx page directly I get a 404 - file not found - error message. This only happens with .aspx files.
I have a project that it had been developed under MVC1 and after aa few months ago I upgraded it in MVC2.
Everything was well, uppon the day I needed to format my computer.
And what can goes wrong with a format? I don't know
I have installed the MVC2, I build the project, no error displayed, but from the time I've uploaded the project in the production server

The file system I'm publishing to is a not hosted by me, but by my university. IT here offers students their own web directory to host a website. My intention is to use it to host projects for classes and demo them for my professors. You can enter in a specific link in any browser to go to this website and view it as long as there is a file named 'index.html' in the directory with some presentable html code.
So here's the problem. I want my website to be written using ASP.NET and when I use VS2010 to publish my ASP.NET website to the 'File System,' I cannot simply open up my browser, type in the normal link, and have it display. It just shows up as a list of files in the directory and I can see all my source code for the web site

I installed Cahrt control of ASP:Net and It works fine on local. I made neccessary changes on web.config but When I deploy it to my site I am getting the error ! It says as below;

I've an ASP.NET application running fine locally, I've published the site and copied all files up to the live server and all is not good.99% of the pages are doing just as they should be, but just two pages are complaining that they can't find the code behind file? I excluded a file(i.e . a WorkFlow file) from my project. The file got removed from the Solution Explorer, But it was in the directory where the project was saved. Can anyone please tell me how the file can be included again.

I have a web project with a data model defined in an edmx file. The connection string starts like this:
metadata=res://*/;
This has worked fine for a while. But somebody else working on the project created a dll that also uses the entity framework and added it to the bin folder. Now when I try to create my connection there is an error loading the metadata.
Aside from totally changing the way one or both of us is doing things, I wonder if the problem can be fixed if my connection string can be changed to only look for the metadata defined in my edmx file. The problem is, for the life of me I can't find the right syntax to do this. The metadata is embedded in the output assembly, so there are no physical metadata files to point to. How exactly should I specify the metadata location in the connection string?
I would like to separate my attribute decoration(3-4 per field) by having them someplace else so that my code looks readable.Also the arguments passed to some attributes should come from a resource file.EG:[Required("Cannot proceed without entering *field_Name*")]
