Nov 10, 2010I have implemented successfully cascading auto complete with web service. But now I wanted do like if user type in the input box which is not available in the list of auto complete than at the lost focus of input box it should show some alert that it is not available in the auto complete list or i wanted to show some div as a alert. After some alert or div on bases of response if "yes" than I wanted to show some new DIV where he can add new record into database and that will automatically comes in the auto complete list and also should be selected in text box if response is "no" than text should be empty in the text box and cursor should be focus into the text box.
Showing DIV for entering data that I will do it but my problem is how to check the data enter is part of the auto complete list or not.

Jul 6, 2010I'm having a pretty nasty problem with an auto-completing textbox. I want to initiate an asynchronous PostBack whenever a user selects an item from the auto-completed field and retain the value of the item, rather than the text inputted. This works perfectly when enter is pressed rather than a mouse click.
An example of my issue:
Someone goes to the page, and types 1000 into the textbox. The autocomplete displays 10002, 1000B, and 10000. The user clicks on 1000B and an asynchronous PostBack initiates. Instead of 1000B, the TextBox.Text value is still 1000. My assumption is that the textbox is initiating the PostBack before the value is actually getting assigned to it.

AJAX :: Is There A Way To Speed Up The Auto Complete Extender Control
May 31, 2010I did the tutorial on this site for the auto completer control. It can be found here[URL] to see the code.
It uses a page method that has the words in a string array for the auto-completer. It works but it's really slow. There is a delay of a half second or so before it appears. Even when I have cache enabled it's really slow. The array only has 5 or 6 words in it. I can't imagine how slow it would be with a much larger list. Which is how this would really be useful.
Is there a way to speed this up? I know I've seen these on the web that worked better. It seems like if this were done using a service that it would be way too slow.

Feb 4, 2010I am trying to use a jQuery plugin in a control. The pages that the control can be on use partial postbacks via an UpdatePanel. I include jQuery and the plugin during the control's PreRender event like this:

The customPlugin jQuery plugin sets up a new function called "executeCustomPlugin". Later in the PreRender event of the control, I use the plugin on an element on the control:

However, when it executes, I get the JavaScript error:

It would seem as if the jQuery plugin is never executed at all, but I set up window.alerts in the jQuery.customPlugin.js file, and it is indeed being executed.
Is there a way to fix this problem?

Bt as far as I knw, validation plugin works only with form validation ryt? And my custom control does not contain a form tag as I am using master pages. The custom control is present in one of the content pages and the master page already contains a form tag with a runat=server attribute. And I guess one page can contain only a single form tag with runat=server attrib ryt?
So how do I get it to work?
