I've got a requirement to add a feature that will save off a dynamically created asp.net page so it can be recalled and reviewed at a later date. I was thinking of just adding a 'Save' button to the page and in the code-behind using VB to write the output HTML to a varchar(MAX) field in my database.Does anyone know how (in VB) to grab the entire page HTML so it can be inserted into a database?

Well, I'm working with
Response.Output.Write(myReader[...].ToString)
and I'd like to output the data in 2 columns.
For instance the dataReader gets the following data: "1", "2", "3", "4" which will result in
1
2
3
4
but I'd like to have it like (in columns)
1 | 2
3 | 4
The Html code would be like
[Code]....
it would result in something like
[Code]....
But I'm working with an array that supplies the DataReader with what it should read, so I cannot write the code as above.
foreach (string strArr in outputLst)

I have a ListView (in an UpdatePanel) connected to a LinqDataSource. When the page loads and/or I navigate through Postback, the code snippet (below) will display the following output:
[email.gif] someone@adomain.com [email.gif] www.adomain.com
However, when I use a few DropDownLists (also in the UpdatePanel) to filter the results (reset the DataSource to a Linq query and call DataBind), the same Contact is displayed like this:
[email.gif] [email.gif] www.adomain.com
[Code]....
If the parameter is a URL, the FormatEContact method will return:
[Code]....
So, after spending some quality time with Bing and Google, I've learned that the above js code is treated as just text and not evaluated. Therefore, the most often recommended solution is to eval() it. Unfortunately, I can't figure out exactly how, when or where to call eval().

I would like to find a way to read a txt file (in my case delimited by ¤). I need to change the order of the columns and also add and remove some columns. My output file should be a txt file delmited by ;.
I tried Jet.OLEDB to read the file and put it into a datatable and then used a stringBuilder and streamwriter to get an output file in .txt format. However. This does not me since I´, reading the txt file from start to end and my output will be the same. It does not seem like I can have a custom sql statement when reading the file. The only query that works is
Dim da As New System.Data.OleDb.OleDbDataAdapter("Select * from 1.txt", TextConn)
How can I possible modify a txt file?
This is my code for now:

I have added the following code to my web.config file:
<system.diagnostics>
<trace autoflush="false" indentsize="4" >
<listeners>
<add name="myListener"
type="System.Diagnostics.TextWriterTraceListener"
initializeData="d:debugging.txt" />
<remove name="Default"></remove>
</listeners>
</trace>
</system.diagnostics>
And I have written this line for sending trace output:
System.Diagnostics.Trace.Write(sID + " tracing id");
But, I can not see any "debugging.txt" file created on my d: drive and there is no trace output.

Occaisionally our office printer craps out on us in the middle of a print job, or someone just forgets to print because they get interrupted. In the good 'ole days, I built up my response using a StringBuilder and output the contents to the screen and to a log file in case we ever needed to go back and re-print.
Now I'm working with a system that makes use of all the .Net yumminess (Repeaters, page events, etc) rather than building up the HTML in code. Is there a way for me to log/archive the entire HTML response generated by the server for a particular page (e.g. hook into the Page_Render event and dump the output to a file)?

i have an action to return a pdf file in my controller,if the return file is for downloading, the following code can be used to modify filename successfully.
HttpContext.Response.AddHeader("content-disposition", "attachment; filename=form.pdf");
HOWEVER, i found that when the pdf file was returned to browser( rather than a pop up window to download), the filename always remain same as the action name! (when u right click file and try to save it on ur hard disk), i was wondering if there is a automatic way to rename the file rather than "right click" and "save as" manually.how to rename the outputfile when it is shown in the browser?

I have a url of CCAvenue with only single date for reporting [URL] .....
I need to give my reporting team for an option so that they can get the data of more than one date. i.e. fromdate and todate. To achieve this I am selecting from date and to date and on button click I have written this code
protected void btngetdata_Click(object sender, EventArgs e) { DateTime start = DateTime.ParseExact(txtfromDate.Text, "yyyy-MM-dd", CultureInfo.InvariantCulture); DateTime end = DateTime.ParseExact(txttodate.Text, "yyyy-MM-dd", CultureInfo.InvariantCulture);
for (DateTime counter = start; counter <= end; counter = counter.AddDays(1)) { string url = string.Format("https://mars.ccavenue.com/servlet/ccav.MerchantReconReport?User_Id=M_npa20362_20362&Date=" + counter); } }
I want output of this url to download into CSV file.

First off, suggest better ways if you want rather than patch up this code. I am just starting this project and it is first time I have tried to code a web site so anything you suggest is very much welcomed. I have spent the last 2 and 1/2 days trying to find workable answers to this but none I have found and tried seem to fit. If needed I can email screens shots or code. I am trying to construct a website that will have the same main theme throughout as far as the header, navbars sitemap, and footer go. Naturally the content will vary from page to page. I want to use a single master page and css stylesheet for this main theme and I will change the content format as needed per page because each page may vary somewhat.
However, about 15 of the pages will all use the same format for their content and this format will differ from the rest of the site but the format of the main theme will stay the same. So I am trying to create a nested master page to use to format the just the content area for all these pages while retaining the main theme for the header, etc.. I believe I should use a separate css file with the nested master page to handle the formatting of the content areas for these 15 pages. I have code that looks like it works when viewed in web developer but design view but does not work when viewd through a browser (IE, Chrome, Firefox). So far I have the following done in web developer.
If it helps the code and screen shots follow. Master Page called "Parent.master". For all theme throughout site Nested Master Page called "Lab.master". For the 15 like pages Primary stylesheet file for main theme called "StylesheetNew.css" For site theme Secondary stylesheet file to syle the 15 like formatted pages. It is called Labmaster.css Labs.apsx file to use as first of the 15 like pages.
Finally screens shots from web developer and browser. Sorry try as I might I could not capture screenshots and put them into this post. The problem is that web developer shows all the area (many lines high) with gray background and with the XXX text that I want to allocate for content in the 15 pages. Yet all the browser show is one line of text o a white background followed by the footer. It looks like the LabStyleSheet works in Web Developer but not in a browser.

However, when I use this code, the save as dialog box pops up, and when i hit save as, the file immediately finishes loading - and it's just 0 bytes. The file is 5 Megabytes.

I'm trying to export data from an asp.net page to an Excel file and I'm basically just outputting HTML to the XLS file and let Excel interprets it, by using this type of coding:
[Code]....
Although this is doing fine for exporting raw text, I now have to export to the same Excel file an image. However, the same kind of method I'm using right now only seems to insert a "linked" image, I mean, the image appears in the file, however, the user viewing the file has to be online since it's a direct link to the file in the server. I would like to able to "embeded" the image in the file, just like how it's made when you insert manually an image using Excel.
However, after some online research I can't seem to find any solution for this.
I can't use Microsoft.Office.Interop.Excel library, and a third party software isn't advisable also, that's what made me try out the HTML output solution, which worked ok for the text. But now, for inserting an image, what can I do? Is it possible to achieve what I pretend?
