Response.Output.Write(myReader[...].ToString) To 2 Columns?

May 14, 2010

Well, I'm working with

Response.Output.Write(myReader[...].ToString)

and I'd like to output the data in 2 columns.

For instance the dataReader gets the following data: "1", "2", "3", "4" which will result in

1

2

3

4

but I'd like to have it like (in columns)

1 | 2

3 | 4

The Html code would be like

[Code]....

it would result in something like

[Code]....

But I'm working with an array that supplies the DataReader with what it should read, so I cannot write the code as above.

foreach (string strArr in outputLst)

C# - Log Response To Output File?

Nov 30, 2010

Occaisionally our office printer craps out on us in the middle of a print job, or someone just forgets to print because they get interrupted. In the good 'ole days, I built up my response using a StringBuilder and output the contents to the screen and to a log file in case we ever needed to go back and re-print.

Now I'm working with a system that makes use of all the .Net yumminess (Repeaters, page events, etc) rather than building up the HTML in code. Is there a way for me to log/archive the entire HTML response generated by the server for a particular page (e.g. hook into the Page_Render event and dump the output to a file)?

Web Forms :: Grab Output HTML And Write To SQL Server?

Oct 1, 2010

I've got a requirement to add a feature that will save off a dynamically created asp.net page so it can be recalled and reviewed at a later date. I was thinking of just adding a 'Save' button to the page and in the code-behind using VB to write the output HTML to a varchar(MAX) field in my database.Does anyone know how (in VB) to grab the entire page HTML so it can be inserted into a database?

Web Forms :: How To Get Output HTML And TransmitFile As The Response To An Page

Nov 18, 2010

I'm trying to create an ASPX page that displays both an HTML message ("Please wait, your file transfer will begin momentarily") and also commence transmitting a file. I'm trying to avoid making the user open the page, and then clicking a Download buttonIt seems like this may be possible with a "Multipart/mixed" MIME type. Elsewhere I think I read that ASP.NET won't support this.

AJAX :: JavaScript Generated Output Using Document.write Does Not Appear In UpatePanel?

Oct 5, 2010

I have a ListView (in an UpdatePanel) connected to a LinqDataSource. When the page loads and/or I navigate through Postback, the code snippet (below) will display the following output:

[email.gif] someone@adomain.com [email.gif] www.adomain.com

However, when I use a few DropDownLists (also in the UpdatePanel) to filter the results (reset the DataSource to a Linq query and call DataBind), the same Contact is displayed like this:

[email.gif] [email.gif] www.adomain.com

[Code]....

If the parameter is a URL, the FormatEContact method will return:

[Code]....

So, after spending some quality time with Bing and Google, I've learned that the above js code is treated as just text and not evaluated. Therefore, the most often recommended solution is to eval() it. Unfortunately, I can't figure out exactly how, when or where to call eval().

C# - Can I Zip Response.write

Jan 21, 2010

Let me explain better than what the question state. I dynamically generate a KML file from an aspx page and use routing to change the url so I can access myapp.com/mykml.kml and the download starts. I use Response.write() in the aspx page to send the data and it work flawlessly. But there is a zipped version for KML files which is KMZ and I am wondering if I can still use my aspx page to serve a KMZ instead of a KML. Since I do not use a file I cannot "zip" it. Is there a way to zip the stream and output it in the Response.Write()?

Render Output To String - Response.Flush Breaking Page Caching

Feb 3, 2010

I have some code that is used to replace certain page output with other text. The way I accomplish this is by setting the Response.Filter to a Stream, Flushing the Response, and then reading that Stream back into a string. From there I can manipulate the string and output the resulting code. You can see the basic code for this over at [URL] However, I noticed that Page Caching no longer works after the first Response.Flush call.

I put together a simple ASP.NET WebApp as an example. I have a Default.aspx with an @OutputCache set for 30 seconds. All this does is output DateTime.Now.ToLongTimeString(). I override Render. If I do a Response.Flush (even after the base.Render) the page does not get cached. This is regardless of any programmatic cacheability that I set. So it seems that Response.Flush completely undermines any page caching in use. Why is this?

extra credit: is there a way to accomplish what I want (render output to a string) that will not result in Page Cache getting bypassed?

ASPX Page:

<%@ Page Language="C#" AutoEventWireup="true" CodeBehind="Default.aspx.cs" Inherits="TestCacheVsFlush._Default" %>
<%@ OutputCache Duration="30" VaryByParam="none" %>
<%= DateTime.Now.ToLongTimeString() %>

Code-behind (Page is Cached):
protected override void Render(HtmlTextWriter writer)
{
base.Render(writer);
}
Code-behind (Page is not cached):
protected override void Render(HtmlTextWriter writer)
{
base.Render(writer);
Response.Flush();
}
Code-behind (Page still is not cached):
protected override void Render(HtmlTextWriter writer)
{
base.Render(writer);
Response.Cache.SetCacheability(HttpCacheability.Server);
Response.Cache.SetExpires(DateTime.Now.AddSeconds(30));
Response.Flush();
}

HTTP Response Differences Between Browser's View Source And Netcat's Output?

Jun 10, 2010

I'm looking at a website using Internet Explorer and Firefox. In each browser I select view source and see the website's URL in the links. These links were concatenated together using HttpContext.Current.Request.Url.Host in the code behind. However, when I use netcat or Burp Suite v1.3.03, looking at the same links I see the servername instead of the website's URL.

My question is - Why does view source in the browser display different links in the page source than what netcat or Burp Suite outputs? Is the browser rewriting stuff?

My thought to correct is to have a web.config setting which is used to create the links.

Next question - Does anyone know of a configuration change to make to IIS to return the URL instead of the server name or a .NET function that I should be calling instead to get the URL that the website is running as.

Correct Usage Of Response.Write() In C#?

Jan 3, 2011

I am trying to force a download of an XML file when the user visits a page.

This is the code I am using

public partial class GenerateTemplate : LayoutsPageBase
{
protected void Page_Load(object sender, EventArgs e)
{
//.............
//Going about generating my XML
//.............
Response.ClearContent();
Response.AddHeader("content-disposition", "attachment; filename=template.xml");
Response.Write(xmlDoc.InnerXml);
Response.Flush();
Response.Close();
}
}

I am facing a problem that my download window hangs indefinitely, without ever completing the download/Open of the file.

What am I doing wrong? Am I not disposing any objects or closing any connections here?
