In the 2nd step of the wizard, I have a dropdownlist that is populated from the db. when I go to the 3rd step RegisterUser.ActiveStepChanged event if fired. In there I save the data to the db. My textboxes are saving properly but my the vb code isn't pulling the selectedIndex/Value from the dropdown. I tried populating the dropdown in Load, PreRender and neither of them helped.

[URL] How-to-populate-DropDownList-in-GridView-in-ASPNet.aspx. Was able to duplicate your code w/o any problem. Works. Noticed that the values selected from the DropDownList are not automatically saved in database.
Question: is it possible just by selecting an item from DropDownList and then moving to another row within GridView save a selected value? I mean without using edit/update/cancel buttons but just by selecting an item from the DropDownList.
I need some help in the technical approach with the following scenario:-
1) A dropdownlist with some options. It has a postback action on the selectedIndexChange server side event handler. For example, lets say it contains language options such as english, french etc.
2) Repeater with a label and the textbox control. For example label is Emp Name and textbox is containing the Emp Designation. We have to save emp designation in the various languages.
3) Every time i pick something from the dropdown, i have to flip the textbox control and fill the form. Now i want to save the given data of the texbox in the viewstate. So that every time, the user changes the dropdown selection, he can see the repeater data corresponding to the dropdown selection.
4) I guess some kind of relationship between the dropdown option and the repeater data is needed. But how can we make this thing work.
Now which is the best technique to save the data on the server side? I have to keep it in the viewstate.
I have a dropdownlist that pulls from a datasource. When a name is selected all information drops down to a formview. Once there 3 fields get populated from the dropdownlist and then there is 2 other fields that need user input. Once they hit submit, it should write to a different table in the same DB. Once the page is loaded, the user can select one of the items in the DropDownList. When the "Save" button is clicked, the Selected item value is returned to the [HttpPost] version of the controller action. This item is then stored into session. If the system returns to the page containing the dropdown, I want the saved Value to be selected in the DropDownList. What actually happens is that the DropDownList is always set to be the first item in the list.

My CSS files are linked to via a Master Page.Currently, I have the button linked to some javascript that open will the Save As dialog, but all of the CSS formatting is lost, and it saves the page .I'm assuming that the button will need to open a new page which will re-create the data for the Repeaters and then save using StreamWriter, but I'm not exactly sure if that's right or how best to do it.

fileName is the name of the file ending with the file extension (.pgn). However, the file is saved as a .txt file, ignoring the extension that I am giving it. Would this have to do with the Response.Contenttype = "text/plain"? How can I get the Open/Save dialog to display and save the correct (.pgn) filename?
Also, if filename is a string separated by dashes or spaces, when the Open/Save dialog comes up, the filename is not displayed in its entirety but it is truncated where the first dash (-) or space (or comma) is encountered. How can this be remedied?
Can someone lead me to understanding when to set the encoding for the email step when sending new member emails. For instance what is the default or how can I tell what it is or if I want to set it in the SendMail event in code. See the thing I am wondering is when is it applied? If I set the MailDefinition-From in the html part then in code using the SendMail event set the encoding using
e.Message.From = new
MailAddress("foo@bar.com","foo",System.Text.Encoding.UTF8);
then I assume that it must actually get applied when the email is sent. Is that correct?

I tried adding LoggedIn/AnonymousTemplates etc but it chucked up loads of errors, when I ran the application. The weird bit is, the errors didn't show up in the VB error section!Effectively what I'm trying to do is add <AnonymousTemplate> to the register bit and a <LoggedInTemplate> to a message saying "Your already Registered!"

I use CreateUserWizard and I'm trying to set a goal when users reach coplete wizardstep section or when users finish createwizardstep1 (first signup page) CreateUserWizard has 3 steps. first sign up page, second optional page and finish page. I'm sure that I can separate optional info section and redirect different page after step1 but I would like to avoid that if possible.
