I'm trying to create a control out of a class I found, and one of the overridden functions is the following:
protected override void PerformDataBinding(IEnumerable data)
However, when I try to build the control I'm getting the error as shown in the subject. I've tried searching, and it seems the signature for the original function matches the one I have, and all other solutions I've seen uses the same signature.
I am new to asp.net and I have a system am trying to edit but each time I debug it, I get errors. The one of the errors is shown below: Server Error in '/starBus' Application.

This is my first membership provider; I converted the sample provider [URL] to SQL. I created a vb class provider and put it into the App_Code folder. After it was created I tried to modify my webconfig but the error pops up. I don't know what else to try, I don't know if I have missed something

How can I create a UserControl with a collection-type property which has a collection editor?
I've a CompositeControl with an ArrayList-type property which has CollectionEditor-type designer. You can see this property on Properties window with a "..." button which launches a collection editor. This works fine and all but I want to apply the same to a UserControl and I've couldn't manage to pull it off so far. I've done the same thing what I've done with my CompositeControl but the property either doesn't even show on Properties window of the UserControl or shows as a single value property with no "..." editor button.

I have a DetailsView control bound to an ObjectDataSource within a User Control (.ascx). It appears that the DetailsView.OnDataBound event is being fired on every page load or postback.
I do not see this behavior with a similiar DetailsView directly placed on an aspx page.
I'm building this small control. It should detect client resolution and set height and width values within two separated HtmlInputHidden controls. But tester property is not getting values froms this control.

My associate has created a custom SessionStateProvider for me to use with my ASP.net application. I add the file CustomSessionStateProvider to my VS2008 Web Application Project and put the appropriate reference in the web.config and it works fine.
However, my supervisor wants me to set this up as a GAC reference. At my office, we have many DLLs we've created that we use as GAC references across different projects. If I add my CustomSessionStateProvider to the Global Assembly Cache, my pages throw a could not load type CustomASP.CustomSessionStateProvider error. Simple removing the DLL from the GAC makes it work again, but I want to set this up as a GAC reference.

View 1 RepliesI have an ASP.NET 3.5 website application using C# and SQL 2005 running on a web server. Now the application has the ability to create new aspx pages with content and the relative aspx.cs and design.cs pages needed on the fly and store them in the base directory on the server. Think of it as a crued Visual Studio website on the server for admin to click a few options on a page then the new pages are created for them without the need of a web developer. This all works fine and the code is working 100% (for the moment).
My problem now is the following: When i now navigate to this newly created page i get the following error - Parse Error : Could not load type 'Namespace.PageName'
I've looked into the reasoning and microsoft say "These errors occur if the .aspx page contains a reference to a code-behind module and if the application has not been built." Which now makes sense the application does not realise that these new pages are part of its system even though i can navigate to them.How do i get the system to recognise these new pages and rebuild itself accordingly?Now i cannot rebuild the system localy then reupload to the server, this needs to be accomplished on the server by the system, because the site cannot afford to have down time everytime admin decide to add new pages.
I have a custom server control inheriting from CompositeControl. It consists of two RadioButtonlist controls that are rendered side by side in an html table. The number of ListItems in each RadioButtonList is not known until runtime. Depending on how many items each list contains, the RepeatColumns property of each list is set differently. To do this in the handler for the ItemDataBound event I need to get the count of ListItems in each RadioButtonList. How do I expose the Items.Count property of each internal RadioButtonList as a top-level property? I tried using a getter to return the count but this generates a compile-time error to the effect that the count cannot be assigned to--even though I have not created a setter.
Similarly, in the handler for the Submit event, I need to get the ClientID of each internal RadioButtonList to pass to a method that checks for data changes. How do I expose the ClientID of each component RadioButtonList as a top-level property?
I can of course index the Controls collection of the composite control to access the child control and read its properties--but that defeats the whole point of making a complex, independent custom server control.
How can I validate RadComboBox on the server side with LoadonDemand true and AllowCustomText is true? I have the following code but it doesn't validate correctly.

I am trying to build a custom composite control, which allows me to add custom content to each child control. It's a similar concept to what you have with a GridView and TemplateColumn. The markup used to place the control on the page would end up being something like this:

I have the code below, which allows me to put that markup on the page without throwing any errors, and it renders all the correct HTML, except it doesn't render the contents of the ColumnTemplate. I have replaced the Render() code with a comment because it's quite long winded and doesn't add anything important here:

I am creating a custom server control, and I am wanting to include a JavaScript file in the dll file when the control is built. I have tried suggestions from the following websites:[URL] But after following the directions, If I use firebug to see what errors show up, the JavaScript functions that are being called all say "goNext is not defined" which leads me to believe the JavaScript file is not being added correctly.
