View 4 RepliesI have a dynamic textbox appearing in a gridview on the row editing function. I have the following code to set the focus tot he textbox:
GridView1.EditIndex = e.NewEditIndex
BindData()
GridView1.Rows(e.NewEditIndex).FindControl("txtTargetAmount").Focus()
This works fine, but I would now also like to select the data in the textbox so the user does not have to select the text before typing, they can just type straight away. I have been trying to use:
txtTargetAmount1.SelectionStart = 0
txtTargetAmount1.SelectionLength = txtTargetAmount1.Text.Length
but this does not work.
I have a text box in a gridview that is causing some problems with user input. The first time the user opens the page the gridview is populated with zero's in all rows textboxes. I set the focus to the first textbox in the Page_Load event but the cursor is placed to the left of the zero and when some users enter data they don't realize the zero doesn't go away so the first row ends up wrong. Once the tab or enter key is hit and the next row is selected, the zero is "selected", for lack of a better term like when the insert key is predded, and once the user starts typing only the new value remains. Is there a way to make the zero in the first row "selected" ?
View 1 RepliesI have the following code which sets the focus of the textbox, but I now also want th text in the textbox to be highlighted, but without the use of JavaScript. I have tried using JavaScript but cannot get it too work, is there any other way to do it?
Protected Sub
GridView1_RowEditing(ByVal sender
As
Object,
ByVal e
As System.Web.UI.WebControls.GridViewEditEventArgs)
Handles GridView1.RowEditing
GridView1.EditIndex = e.NewEditIndex
BindData()
GridView1.Rows(e.NewEditIndex).FindControl("txtTargetAmount").Focus()
Just wondering if it is possible to programatically highlight all the text within a textbox.
Specifically, I have a text box with validation. If an error is thrown, I set the focus to the specified textbox, but the way it works now the user starts typing and none of the text that already exists disappears. I'm wondering if I can make it so that if the error is thrown, not only is the focus set to the textbox, but the text within the textbox is selected, so that if they simply start typing all of the old text disappears, or they can click and retype a single character if necessary.
I have an ASP.NET 2.0 webapp (with C#). I wanted to add a button which, when clicked would highlight selected text. By 'highlight', I mean change the CSS properties of the text so that it can stand out. I think this can be done with some clientside JavaScript.I know that you can assign a Javascript function to the onclick event of an HTML input button, but since I'm not very proficient at JS the function itself I have no idea how to write
View 3 RepliesI have 2 text boxes.
For example:
textbox1 = "Hello bob, How are you"
textbox2 = "Hello cad, how are you"
I have looped through each text box and know that the area I want to highlight on textBox 2 is between the charaters 7 and 9. How do I highlight only these characters as Bold and with a yellow background?
i wanted to know how i could go about selecting all the values of the textbox in one click, and then auto copying it.
So basically, the textbox is a read only, and has text inside, but when the user clicks the textbox, it will highlight the text in the textbox, and autocopy it.
Case : a templatefield Text Box created by class TemplateHandler and added to the composite
control Grid .how to bind it to the DataSource Object of the Grid Class ?
I need to create one custom text box control which should be bind with data base.
I am referring following link...
http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/system.web.ui.webcontrols.databoundcontrol.aspx
I used DataBoundControl to create my control but i am not able to do it properly.
public class SimpleTextBoxControl : DataBoundControl
{
private TextBox nameTextBox;
public string DataTextField
{
get
{
object o = ViewState["DataTextField"];
return ((o == null) ? string.Empty : (string)o);
}
set
{
ViewState["DataTextField"] = value;
}
}
[
Bindable(true),
Category("Data"),
DefaultValue(""),
Description("The text to display on the link."),
Localizable(true),
PersistenceMode(PersistenceMode.InnerDefaultProperty)
]
public virtual string DataTexValue
{
get
{
string s = (string)ViewState["Text"];
return (s == null) ? String.Empty : s;
}
set
{
ViewState["Text"] = value;
}
}
protected override void PerformDataBinding(IEnumerable retrievedData)
{
if (retrievedData == null)
return;
base.PerformDataBinding(retrievedData);
Controls.Clear();
nameTextBox = new TextBox { ID = "nameTextBox" };
foreach (object dataItem in retrievedData)
{
if (DataTextField.Length > 0)
{
nameTextBox.Text = DataBinder.GetPropertyValue(dataItem, DataTextField, null);
}
DataTexValue = nameTextBox.Text;
}
this.Controls.Add(nameTextBox);
}
}

I´m currently programming a web search application in ASP.Net and having problem with full text searching. My requirements are:
1. Save a byte array from SQL server to word document as a temp file in a server side?
2. How to highlight the string I am currently searching in the Word document and return to the user the sentence with the highlighted string (like on Bing or any other search engines)? Is it possible to fullfill this requirement with full-text search integrated in SQL Server 2008?
created a Custom Textbox Control that is intended to be a "masked date" textbox, so that I can handle different ways a user might enter in a date and make it work no matter what.I did this by creating a custom control with 3 separate Textboxes one for month,one for day one for year,then do some handling for different things that could be entered and it would all work.
The problem I am having is,when I add this control to the page,if I do an alert to check the Text value of the custom control it just gives me "[ServerControl1]" even if I enter in a date.
I tried doing an AutoPostback after entering so that it would refesh the Viewstate to have the values of the textboxes but the control doesnt seem to actually postback, even though I have it enabled.accessing the Textbox value after someoen
has entered a date?first custom control I have created and have been using google.

I have a webusercontrol that contains 1 textbox and a btn.
The usercontrol is nested on the default.aspx
on btnclick i need to capture the value of textbox and pasit to my class1.
how can i get the value of a textbox from a web control registered within a web control thats registered within a page?
my aspx page needs to retrieve the values of several text boxes that are within a control called CustomerDetails.ascx that is registered within a control Checkout.ascx that is in turn registered within the aspx page.
im working in vb.net and initially tried to expose the textbox properties in CustomerDetails.aspx and create a property for CustomerDetails.ascx in Checkout.ascx thinking i could then access from my aspx page but that doesnt work.

2. No allow to input certain special character.
Here, I able to provide 2nd feature but hv no idea how to do for the 1st. Below is my code in the custom control class.

Hope this is the correct forum for this question. I am using VWD 2010 an have a web project and get the following error upon execution:
Parser Error Message: Unknown server tag 'custom:AjaxValidator'.
My code is as follows in the .cs file:

I have a series of textboxes on a FormView. There is a textbox for entering a percent for a deposit amount and next to that a corresponding textbox for entering a dollar value for a deposit amount. There are 3 sets of these.
If a user changes a percent textbox, I update the dollar value textbox based on the percent times the project's total cost. If a user changes the dollar value textbox, the percent textbox gets updated as a percent of that dollar amount divided by the project's total cost.
I have the percent textboxes formatted as "{0:0%}" and the dollar value textboxes as "{0:C}".
When a user types into the textbox, the formatting goes away and we get raw numbers but I don't want those raw numbers to remain as such after they tab or click out of the field. I added a TextChanged event to reset the formatting. This works fine on reformatting the percent textbox but the currency one remains as just a raw numeric value.
Here is the markup (ignore the lack of validation for numeric input only...it will be added):
<td>
<asp:TextBox ID="txtDepositPercent1" runat="server" AutoPostBack="true"
CssClass="TextboxAnimatedRightAlign" Width="33px"
Text='<%# String.Format("{0:0%}", Eval("fld_dep1")) %>'
OnTextChanged="txtDeposit_TextChanged" />

I have a custom server control inheriting from CompositeControl. It consists of two RadioButtonlist controls that are rendered side by side in an html table. The number of ListItems in each RadioButtonList is not known until runtime. Depending on how many items each list contains, the RepeatColumns property of each list is set differently. To do this in the handler for the ItemDataBound event I need to get the count of ListItems in each RadioButtonList. How do I expose the Items.Count property of each internal RadioButtonList as a top-level property? I tried using a getter to return the count but this generates a compile-time error to the effect that the count cannot be assigned to--even though I have not created a setter.
Similarly, in the handler for the Submit event, I need to get the ClientID of each internal RadioButtonList to pass to a method that checks for data changes. How do I expose the ClientID of each component RadioButtonList as a top-level property?
I can of course index the Controls collection of the composite control to access the child control and read its properties--but that defeats the whole point of making a complex, independent custom server control.
I want to highlight the text while typing in a TextBox. How can I do this?
View 1 RepliesI am trying to build a custom composite control, which allows me to add custom content to each child control. It's a similar concept to what you have with a GridView and TemplateColumn. The markup used to place the control on the page would end up being something like this:
[Code]....
I have the code below, which allows me to put that markup on the page without throwing any errors, and it renders all the correct HTML, except it doesn't render the contents of the ColumnTemplate. I have replaced the Render() code with a comment because it's quite long winded and doesn't add anything important here:
[Code]....
I have tried to follow examples on MSDN and other forums but I can't make this work. I think I'm missing the code to render the contents of the template, but I don't know how to hook that up.
