Data Controls :: Add Comma To Large Numbers And Display It In Currency Format
Jan 24, 2016
With reference to the following thread: URL....I have problem applying the same concept to gridview EditItemTemplate. Is there a way i can add comma to large numbers and display it in currency format like exemple below:
Textbox3=Textbox1 * Textbox2
Textbox3= 1,000.00
Textbox3 should happen OnTextChanged and the above controls are in Gridview edit mode.
How can i calculate the sum of two textboxes(Textbox1 and Textbox2) and then add comma with .00 to another textbox(Textbox3). Example say Textbox1 = 2 and Textbox2 = 500
We have a large ASP.NET MVC project where all numbers output to the screen are formatted as currency (i.e. ToString("c"). However, negative numbers are showing up with ()'s. For example:
decimal d = -8.88m; Console.WriteLine(d.ToString("c")); //outputs $(8.88)
This is a bit annoying to our users, particularly since there are in textboxes. We have a few thousand places where we send currency fields to the screen like this, so we'd love a way to change the formatting globally. Is there one? All the methods I've seen indicate that you have to create a new formatter, similar to this:
We'd prefer not to change all of our ToString("c") methods ... is there a better way? My first thought was to just change our locale to Australia, but realized the date formatting would be screwed up.
in my below post there is a solution of currency format of a textbox and it is working fine.http://forums.asp.net/p/1544844/3779841.aspx#3779841but when i try it textbox within Gridview then it is working only "Empty Temlate" textbox.but not working within "Footer Template ".my code is like below
I have a gridview that I am populating with data for the folks in accounting and they want me to format currency values so that they display without $'s, with commas separating digits and with negative numbers surrounded by ( )
e.g.:
12345.67 = 12,345.67 -12345.67 = (12,345.67)
I have found lots of examples around the interwebs that get me close but there is either no ( ) around negatives or there is a $ included.
I'm trying to add comma separators to a number. I've tried the advice here: add commas using String.Format for number and and here: .NET String.Format() to add commas in thousands place for a number but I can't get it to work - they just return the number without commas. The code I'm using is here:
public static string addCommas(string cash) { return string.Format("{0:n0}", cash).ToString(); }
Where am I going wrong?Update: Hi all, thanks for your help, but all of those methods are returning the same error: "error CS1502: The best overloaded method match for 'BishopFlemingFunctions.addCommas(int)' has some invalid arguments" (or variations therof depending on what number type I'm using.)
I fill the TextBox with a formatted string out of the database:
txtSalary.Text = myObject.Salary.ToString("N2")
When a user accesses the page using a French culture (such as fr-ca), the ToString method will put 80 000,00 in the textbox, which is fine.However, any number with a space in it causes the validator to fail, which is not fine. Is there any way to make the CompareValidator work properly with non-US formatted numbers?
i have an datatable called orders. One of the columns is "OrderAmount" In the aspx, page I have a datalist and am using the {0:c} in the item template but it is not showing the £ symbol or the amount in correct number format.
In my datatable I am not sure if I need to use Int or Float.
the amount I want to enter is £21,316.56. I have tried entering 2131651 but it does not display correctly in data list.
I need to validate textbox so that it will contain only numbers or comm or dot, or any combination of them. I can validate them to include only digits..
The following RangeValidator gives me the exception shown further below.

Text="*" Type="Currency" MinimumValue="0" MaximumValue="9999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999"><img src="images/icons/WarningHS.png" alt="Warning" /></asp:RangeValidator>

I have a .dat file that I want to upload to SQL server, the file is comma separated. A fmt file can be created for fixed format file, howeverthis one will be a comma separated. How can I create that file?
I have a gridview control sitting in a jQuery Accordian. The data in the grid diplays fine, however in IE 6 the page numbers do not display when the pane of the accordian is first opened. If you open another pane and then re-open the pane containing the grid view the number appear. There is also no issue with IE7 or later or FF.
