Setting up the editItem template of a gridview. I have a template field with a dropdown list for editing. When the gridview goes into edit mode the dropdown list is displayed with all the right options but the current value of the field (pre-editing) is not the selected value of the dropdown list? How do I make that happen? I have a couple fields where the editItem template will use a dropdown list and I'm sure a user will not realize those values have changed and they will just edit what they intended to edit and save the changes, inadvertently also making changes to other fields.
I have a Hyperlink control in an ItemTemplate inside of a DetailsView. The DetailsView is inside a view of a MultiView which is inside of an update panel.
I am using binding syntax to bind the NavigateUrl property of the Hyperlink. However, the text shows up but when the mouse point moves over the hyperlink, the pointer doesn't change to a pointer hand like it should. And, nothing happens when the HyperLink is clicked. Here's the syntax I'm using:
I have discovered that the NavigateUrl is encoding the URL when it render it. It is a bit of a problem for me in Denmark because we have domianname with special charters. ex. [URL] the hyperlink control render it like [URL]
I am currently building a system that allows the administrator of our website to update the RSS feed by adding new items, editing current ones and deleting old ones. I have put all of the fields into a template view, because this way, they provide the functionability that I need.
Anyway, because the bodies of the RSS feed will be quite large, I want to be able to have a link in a column, which sends the admin to a page called NewsDetails.aspx?<guid>. <guid> here means the ID tag that I have named 'guid'. When I hover over the link, the correct url appears in the status bar (i.e. www.mywebsite.com/admin/NewsDetails.aspx?1), but when I click on the hyperlinks, they don't navigate to the page, but simply refresh the current page.

to create a bulk edit gridview so some columns are automatically editable and others aren't, with a single update button. I can set Status="Retired" in the xml generated, or as a rule in database table. I have a gridview, whose columns I am dynamically binding. There are two fixed columns, one is a button field and another is a template field containing an image. The other columns might vary in number and behaviour, so before binding the grid, I am removing all columns of the gridview except the button field and the template field. But after doing this, if i try to do a findcontrol for the template field(Image column), it is notgetting the control. Means while removing the other columns, this image control also getting removed.Below is my code:

I have a Gridview with a hyperlink field. The hyperlink will open a pdf file from a folder in the root of the web if there is a corresponding file. My problem is that there may or may not be a corresponding file and if there isn't a file then a browser window opens up and the contents of the folder are displayed. This folder will be maintenanced from day to day adding and removing files. coding something that will either disable the hyperlink were there is no corresponding data or just pop up a message that there is no corresponding data to view.
When I change my insert update and delete buttons to template field....they do not work properly anymore. I get a "Cannot insert a Null Value into...blah blah blah, error.
