Data Controls :: Loading Records In GridView While Scrolling Down Without Using Paging
Jan 16, 2013
I have used a GirdView to display data from database, data would be huge around 670 rows. And also I want to display all data together on single page.
Therefore I want to use virtual page scrolling. Means on Page load only 20 rows would be displayed, then when page would be scrolled next 20 rows would be displayed.....

I have two gridview. The first gridview with checkbox and if i check the checkbox in first grid that particular row will be binded to second grid. In second grid i have a textbox and dropdown. Have enabled pagination in both grids. When i check the checkbox in first grid i loop through all records in second grid to bind the previous values. Problem is since i have enabled pagination gridview row count only retuns current page row count. How to loop through all rows?.

I have a requirement like need to display 5000+ records in gridview. So, I created scrollable div with gridview init and displaying 200 records per page. The website is running very slow because eveytime when user click on paging, it retrieving all the records from the database. I need to increase the website performance. I heard about a concept Girdview lazy loading but i don't know how to implement. I am looking for a solution like records should display in gridview when ever user scroll the bar down. How to do the gridview lazy loading.

I have a user control that is common to the application. It searchs for lakhs of Items in one go from the db and I set the selected Items in a list in a session to pass on to the pages that use it. Hence making the application a tad slower. The gridview that contains the Items should have sorting, page indexing. What according to u,I should do to enhance the application's performance ?

This has reference to the article on ASPSnippets "Load data while Scrolling Page down with jQuery AJAX and ASP.Net".Records repeat after scrolling (e.g. Records 1-10 repeat after 10th record)
I verified that the pageIndex gets incrimented after the scroll by setting breakpoints at the point where the cmd.parameters value is being set(could not verify that further from hereafter though).
The stored procedure is able to fetch records e.g. 41-50 correcly affter excution in standalone mode by passing pageIndex=5 and pagesize=10 parameters etc. etc. etc.I also verified the code(line by line) from the site but, could not resolve the issue in more than a day's work.

ASP.NET 3.5,I'm upgrading a page that currently uses classic asp and xslt to display about 2000 readonly tabular records. Please leave aside the issue of whether this is a good idea or not.My asp.net replacement page uses a gridview to do the same thing. The scrolling in IE8 using this old code is very smooth and even. The scrolling using the asp.net page is horribly jerky. I can't figure out why - there doesn't appear to be much client side code running.Any clues welcome as this is a high traffic page that I want to look as good as possible. The same page also can't handle a row highlighter - same reason slow and jerky.

I put a GridView control in a Panel control so that the GridView's rows can be scrolled vertically. With selection of row enabled for a Button field, I am able to select any row with the selected row background color highlighted. Problem is when you scroll down to a row that is way pass the Panel height and select the row, after postback the GridView will render to show the top rows which are visible within the Panel height. So the selected row in it's background color cannot be seen.

I have a parent gridview5 with child gridview 6, today i deployed it to our dev server and on that server we have alot more records, so for the nested gridviews i need to enable paging on the parent gridview5. Doing so works fine, until i make a selection within the child gridview6, once any selection is made, and i try to page the page throws an error, i have the following bound to the parent gridview5.

In my asp.net Page I am using gridview. I am binding the gridview on page load and on paging event with one method. suppose as Bindgridview1();.
There is one search button for searching the records of user with different method suppose as Bindgridview2(); .
when I am searching the records with Bindgridview2(); paging doesn't work and directly bind with Bindgridview1(); which is on page load when I clicked next page.

I'm trying to extend the GridView control to enable sorting and paging for any situation.
When using my control I am fetching data from a database and filling a DataSet with it, then binding the GridView upon every page load. My first question would be, is this the correct approach?
To sort the GridView I am overriding the OnSorting method which stores the sort expression and direction in the ViewState, then creates a DataView and utalises the Sort method to sort the underlying data. It then sets the Data Source to this DataView and rebinds the GridView.
Paging is handled by OnPageIndexChanging which simply sets the PageIndex property and again rebinds the GridView.
My problem is; when any control causes a postback my GridView is no longer sorted, presumably because it is persistently rebound. If I don't rebind it then the GridView is empty on postback since the data isn't automatically stored in the ViewState. I have considered saving the data source in the ViewState but I would assume that this is bad practice for large amounts of data? - also DataViews are not seralisable.
The only solution I can think of currently is to override OnDataBound and sort the data every time. This results in a double sort when paging triggers a postback which seems inefficient. Code illustration of this below,
[Code]....
I'm looking for the cleanest 'best practice' solution as this is a learning exercise more than anything else.
