5) The location of the User Control is default.aspx and the control is comments.ascx. The code files do not share a namespace.
6) I have tried manipulating the OnItemDataBound property of my repeater but since I have proven with the literal that data is getting bound using a declarative value I am not sure what else I could be doing inside the method logic of OnItemDataBound.
Once the end-user makes a comment in the UI, the SystemObjectRecordId value (which should have already been assigned when the page loaded - and we know it does in the case of the literal) should get passed to the codebehind of the custom usercontrol:

No matter what I do, I always get zero for SystemObjectRecordId when passed via the custom user control I have on my default.aspx page.

How can I write the C# code (aspx) to initialize the user control with some default property values? I mean where/which event? I have a user control with a gridview that I bind on container page. On page load of the container page I bind the data. I tried writing the initialization code in initproperties but it didn't work. Please suggest where can I set the default values for my usercontrol?
Edited:As suggested by DOK.. I already have a property and I change width of one of the DIVs. Here is the code that is not working.

this works only if I set the width on calling program. Otherwise the default value of style="width: 105px;" is not added.

I'm using WebForms MVP to create some simple reporting applications. Most of these applications consist of a few search criteria inputs and a ComponentArt datagrid that I'm populating with data from the database.
Most of the markup is in a UserControl, which is in a content page with a master page. My problem is that the control's Page_Load event is firing before the control events that caused the postback in the first place. Basically, the user clicks the search button, and Page_Load is fired BEFORE Search_Click. This is messing with the databinding scheme I've been using.
So that's the question: Why is my Page_Load event firing before the event handler, and what can I do about it? I don't THINK this problem is related to WebForms MVP or ComponentArt, but obviously I could be wrong.

I have the following HTML with a databinding expression as shown below:

The 'title' tag's expression gets evaluated fine.
But not the one in 'href' attrib of the 'link' tag. The HTML source generated shows the literal text "..this.BaseURL.../..."
Any idea what could be happening?

Here's my control's code behind:

It just outputs the current time.Here's the user control embedded in a page:

And in another page:<uc:wuc ID="wuc" runat="server" CacheString="B" />According to the docs this control should maintain a different, 60 second cached version for each value of the CacheString property.It doesn't work - it caches for 60 seconds, but only one cached copy is created regardless of what I put in the CacheString property.

The above code works properly, and when added to a page will successfully identify the tilde / ~ symbol and convert the url into a relative url.
However, when I change the derivation of the class to System.Web.UI.WebControl it does absolutely nothing, and leaves the tilde / ~ intact.
I had a look at System.Web.UI.Control which implements the IUrlResolutionService interface, but still can't seem to get System.Web.UI.WebControl to resolve urls.

I have created a real simple templated UserControl and
I can now add this control to my Asp.net WebApplication using:

i can embed this in a page (aspx) but i is not working in usercontrol (ascx). when i use this inside usercontrol, the designer file (.ascx.designer.cs) itself not getting generated.
getting the following error:
Element 'Box' is not a known element. This can occur if there is an error in the webpage, or the web.config file is missing.
Update: sometimes it works! i created couple of controls. it works in some place and it doesnot works in someother place.

I just create a js file and write all my codes into it after i added this file to UserControl and after i get this UserControl's html i use $("#DivID").html(UserControlHTML);

Im using Ajax and Webservice to load UserControls. Its ok i can easily get the html code of UserControl but there is a problem.
For example UserControl's html code is something like that.

I have created a user control. Usercontrol contain a image. Attached a click event on image jusing javascript function.

I have a aspx page with two linkbuttons and a usercontrol. One is used to save and one to cancel.
But even though I add CausesValidation="false" on the cancel linkbutton it still validate the the validationcontrols in the user control.
But if I add a dummy linkbutton inside the user control that has CausesValidation="false" it works and postback without validating.
Why can't I have the link buttons outside the user control?

I've a ASP.Net page (Default.aspx) which will load UserControl (ucontrol.ascx) dynamically into an UpdatePanel. By using UpdatePanel, we believe we're able to prevent the entire page to be posted-back.
My problem is, within the UserControl, we have some form controls, such as inputs and buttons; after the UserControl is loaded, clicking on any button inside the UserControl will cause the UpdatePanel to be blanked. During the investigation, I found that, breakpoints within the Button1_Click() in the code-behind for the UserControl is never reached. Please reference to the code below, this references to [REFERENCE]1.

I have a page with an UpdatePanel with a UserControl in it. That UserControl contains a GridView with a nested UserControl that seems to disappear when the parent UserControl is rebound. I cannot for the life of me figure out why the child UserControl disappears. The code works beautifully on the first load, but any partial postback causes the "Pick" UserControl to disappear.

im creating site with usercontrols. I have repeater, inside it is another repeater with usercontrol. My problem is passing BindedValue to usercontrol.Bindings works fine and binds the value i need but it cannot pass the value to usercontrol. When i type it manually it works, when i bind it, it passes null (!).I've tried get,set, functions (ondatabound, onload, oninit), accessing control from code with no luck. Ive read and tried to do all the google solutions but with no luck. (even with creating usercontrol inheritance)

There are 2 UserControls UC1 and UC2, and there is one more class C. I want to share the same instance of c in both UserControls. I know that this can be possible with properties in both UC's and by registering UC2 in UC1 or vice versa. But I want the solution to be loosely coupled. Any best possible way without touching the Actual Page (which hosts UC's)? So i need some best possible way between UCs transfering C.

I have MainLayout.master that has UC_Menu.ascx on it.
I have a page named Customer.aspx that uses MainLayout.master. Customer.aspx also contains a UserControl named UC_Details.ascx.
How can I have UC_Menu.ascx call a function that is in UC_Details.ascx with this scenario?
I've seen a few similar examples, but none that match this type of layout.

I have two UserControls on a MasterPage. DataEntryUC contains several TextBoxes and DropDownList. NavSaveUC contains navigation buttons. When the user clicks on a navigation button, I will be saving the data entered into DataEntryUC from the NavSaveUC UserControl.
I have a couple of tables in my DB that contain stored procedure names, control names, control types, SqlDbTypes, etc.... that correlate with DataEntryUC.
How do I reference a text box that is on DataEntryUC from NavSaveUC?
I have been working on the following code from NavSaveUC with no luck.
