DataSource Controls :: Asynchronous Datapersistence Into SQL Server?
Mar 12, 2010
I got a requirement where i need to persist 1,000,000 records/min into database Asynchronously...i Binged some wat on this topic...and i got an idea like.. do the persistence in a method which will be called like "Fire and Forget"...In that method have a queue which will takes all the record....and persist the record one by one from the queue.. I dont know whether Im right or Wrong...
I want some more inputs and references to read more about the Asynchronous DB persistence or retrieval..

I need to do a database persistence asynchronously. So am using BeginExecuteNonQuery and EndExecuteNonQuery methods.
IAsyncResult Async = cmd.BeginExecuteNonQuery(null, cmd);
--code---
int number= cmdE.EndExecuteNonQuery(result);
Now this will work if i want to update or insert. Now what i want to do is, i need to insert values in a table and i need to retreive the identity column value for the values which are being inserted. So once the values are inserted, how do i retreive the identity column value corresponding to those inserted values. Here am passing null value in BeginExecuteNonQuery method. So what change should i do to retreive the last identity value.

So this interface allows one server to request data from another server. The catch is that all xml for the interface is transmitted entirely over http posts followed by an empty status code 200 response. No data is sent in a response. So if my application wants to requests data, we send an http post with the xml request and receive a blank 200. Then, shortly after our request, we'll receive an http post to a predetermined URL with the xml data which we then send a blank 200. This data will then be stored in a SQL database. This interface cannot be altered.
The reason this is problematic is because our server is handling requests from clients that need that data in the response. If a user requests for data that isn't available in our database, it needs to be requested from the interface and then returned in the response. I'm just not sure how to get this to work out. I've thought about polling the database, but I'm worried about thread pool issues. I've also looked into using ManualResetEvent.WaitOne to halt the processing of the client request and then calling Set when the interface sends the data (as a request). I've read that wait threads are shared, but just don't know if this will scale well. Does anyone have any insight or I'm pretty much stumped on this one...

I defined two webservices calls in ASP.NET:
1.BeginLengthyProcedure and EndLengthyProcedure (Asynchronous web method)
2.LengthProcedureSync

[WebServiceBinding(ConformsTo = WsiProfiles.BasicProfile1_1)]
[System.ComponentModel.ToolboxItem(false)]
[System.Web.Script.Services.ScriptService]

ASP.NET Ajax Library provides some client-side events. For instance:
Sys.Application.add_load(
function(args) {
// handle the end of any asynchronous post-back. Every-time there's
// a server round-trip, this method will be called.
}
);
During the asynchronous post-back I want to retrieve information to the client. This information must be available in some event like the discribed above.
Does the UpdatePanel or the ScriptManager have any server-side way to retrieve data back to client during an asynchronous post-back?

string path = Server.MapPath("~/uploadaccess/Production.mdb");
string ConnectionString = @"Provider=Microsoft.Jet.OLEDB.4.0; Data Source=" & Server.MapPath("~/uploadaccess/Production.mdb")&";";
and also
OleDbConnection myConnection = new OleDbConnection("Provider=Microsoft.Jet.OLEDB.4.0;Data Source=" & path&";");
and tried this
OleDbConnection myConnection = new OleDbConnection("Provider=Microsoft.Jet.OLEDB.4.0;Data Source=" & Server.MapPath("~/uploadaccess/Production.mdb"));

Customer were getting "View State Validation Error" due to worker process recycling at our production webserver and to fix that i applied machinekey and then move my Session state Mode from In Proc to State Server to retain session data and not kick out the customer to relogin. I had serialization issue with one object which has to be stored in session but when i moved it out of session i could able to resolve the issue.
But doing all these i was partly successfull in keeping the user in their session when Worker Process recycle event occurs.I was able to refresh the page or make a post back by clicking the refresh button and also able to retain the session values. But the Problem occurs when sending asynchronous request to server which we do periodically every 15 minutes from the moment the user logs in.The web page doesnot update data on website when sending asynchronous request.By Debugging I found at this particular code point it fails to make a postback which is required.
<%=GetHintFromServer%> (When there is no Worker Process recycle i t gets replaced by
WebForm_DoCallback('__Page',message,ShowHint,null,null,false) on postback) Everything works fine when there is no Worker Process Recyling but when it happens looks like sending request asynchronously using javascript fails .Remember When I make a post back by manually clicking submit button everything works fine.
SendRequest(Asynchronous)
function SendRequest(msg, isBusy, chartMsg, vesselMsg)
{
try
{
//confirm("msg"+msg+"isBusy"+isBusy+"chartMsg"+chartMsg+"VesselMsg"+vesselMsg);
_busy = isBusy;
if(chartMsg != null)
{
//confirm("chartMsg"+chartMsg);
_element.SetMessage(true, chartMsg);
}
if(vesselMsg != null)
{
confirm("chartMsg"+vesselMsg);
_element.ShowVesselLoading(true, vesselMsg);
}
_stuckWatchdog = setTimeout( "ClearPendingRequest();", 60000);
var message = msg;
var context = '';
<%=GetHintFromServer%>
}
catch(e)
{
alert( "Exception error on SendRequest(): " + e);
}
}

I have 3 user controls that I have to load at the same time. They each contain a gridview that pulls data from the database. They are doing a "delay" load of the data so there is a progress bar template that shows that the data is loading however the first gridview fires and loads, then the second, then the third and I need them to all fire at the same time.

I am generating an html flow into Update Panels in a content ASPX page (VB.Net 2008 Professional w/ SP1). These include EDIT anchor tags that call a javascript function which calls __doPostBack(target, args); so I can interact with the code behind. This all works fine except on some of the postbacks the connection with the browser just seems to get closed prematurely and suddenly the webpage displays a directory listing. When debugging it, it only happens sometimes, at different places for the E and D options below but not for the V or AddPost or AddArticle. I am just stepping through E or D and suddenly the web page show a directory listing. (What is that? Is the connection crashing? Is the page suddenly redirecting to the base directory because it crashed?)

I have a scenario where I have two data grids (both dynamic) to be loaded onto a page. However, the data that needs to be shown on one of the grids has no dependence on the data of the other grid. So, when fetching the data, I want to fetch it in an asynchronous manner and bind that data to each of the grids individually. Currently we have a code like
GetData(ForGridOne) ;
GetData(ForGridTwo);
I want to make these calls asynchronously so that in order to load the page, the time taken would be lesser. What should be the ideal way to go forward with this ? One more thing, we would be hosting the application in a portlet which doesn't support AJAX.

I am having a gridview in which there are many columns. The Last column is button column with command name as Select.
In row command event, I am creating a webreqest instance and passing the url of the required page in my application, and based on the response status code, updating the column value for that particular row.
This is working.
What I want is this should be asynchronous. Means, if I click the first row Select button, then it should fire and process request. Meanwhile I should be able to click other row's Select button, even if the previous button's click event is still in process.
Means the communication should be asynchronous. Even if

Migrating SSIS package from SQL Server 2005 to SQL Server 2008
View 1 Replies

Previous developers have developed a .SSISDeploymentManifest file (SQL Server 2005) to install SSIS packages which prompts a Package Installation wizard. I tried to install it on SQL Sever 2008 (it works on SQL Server 2005), but it failed with the error: "Storing or modifying packages in SQL Server requires the SSIS runtime and database to be the same version. Storing packages in earlier versions is not supported".
How do I install 2005 SSIS packages on SQL Server 2008? I have all the .dtsx files, not sure how to install them?

I have 5 GB data, when I move from SQL server 2000 to 2008 with Import and Export wizard, my LDF size is increased to 30 GB, Can I reduce my LDF file or move. In my one of the table contain around 20 Lakh data which i have normalized in 2008 and create 4 tables, so my data is entering in normalized form in 2008. But due to size by hard disk is full. I have used shrnik command but it reduce to only 1 GB.

We have a cient we are stting up that has 2 separate physical servers, one that is the web server the other the database server. Using impersonation we have been able to get the website to connect and retrieve data from the sql server so that part is not an issue. The problem is I have a windows service application that must be installed on the web server (as it process files downloaded to an ftp site) and it must be able to connect and write to the sql server as well.We tried adding a system.web block with the impersonation stuff to the app.config file which of course did not work. Can anyone tell me what/how we need to configure this properly?

Not sure why it works if i connect to SQL 2005 on another server, but now that i have SQL Express on the same server as the pages, im getting the following error: I have attached my connection string within my web.config and also how its being called within the code behind. Now this page was written by another programmer some time back.. so not sure if the method he used to do this is the best or only way. But i have connected to other SQL database with other applications with alot less code.

I have created web pages using VS Web Developer that use a local Developer Edition of SQL server database on my PC with LINQ to SQL. When I deploy my website to a remote web host SQL server, I need for my web pages to be able to use the remote database instead of the local database. So, how do I get the Server Explorer to connect with a remote SQL Server database?
