DataSource Controls :: Binding DataTable Data To ObjectDataSource?
Sep 7, 2010
I am trying to bind a DataTable into a ObjectDataSource. This ObjectDataSource data will be used to bind into my LocalReport in ReportViewer. I have already successfully binded my data into the DataTable. My problem now is how do i bind the data in my DataTable into the ObjectDataSource so that it can be used in my report?
Could I receive datatable or datarow as objectDataSource update function parameter? I need it because I need the datarow verison functionality to detect change for a column in the update function logic.this is what i had tried:
[Code]....
After I setup the update function in the ObjectDataSource , its DataObjectTypeName has a funny name
I have an ODS control populating a Telerik grid. The ODS definition is pretty simple. It's set to call a method on a static class that has one parameter (entityID). I set this parameter in the OnSelecting event. When I test this, the world is a happy place and all is fine.
Then, I pass a query string to the page (which sets various unrelated values for the page, we'll say parameters X and Y). The page call's Telerik's radgrid.Rebind() event. When this happens, an error is throw from the ODS saying that the underlying method (the static data procedure) does not support parameters X and Y.
So, why is ODS thinking it should be using any querystring values at all when I have explicitly set the entityID parameter (of type Asp:Parameter)? How do I stop this from happening?
The Html:
[Code]....
The OnSelecting:
[Code]....
I see this odsList_OnSelecting being hit and the inspection of e.InputParameters only contains my expected single entry.
I have a DataSet with multiple DataTables and I use an ObjectDataDataSource to bind my DataGrid to it. One of my tables is correctly displayed in the grid. My problem is, that the grid displays the wrong table.
My tables are related to each other - I make use of the "relation" objects in VS Studio 2010. My ObjectDataSource points to a class with a select method. The DataSet contains several DataTables (e.g. "Variables" and "Components").
[Code]....
How can I configure the DataSet to display the table "Variables" by default?
I want to bind an ObjectDataSource to a property in my asp page and I want to do it in the page's aspx code, not in code-behind. I've already done it in code-behind, as follows:
[Code]....
I'd prefer to get rid of the ugly code-behind and just do this in mark-up. Something like [Code]....
This gives me a run-time error: Cannot create an object of type 'System.Object' from its string representation 'SelectedBook' for the 'DataSource' property. Is there a way of doing this declaratively and not in code-behind? Further, what if what I want is to actually use a child property of the property in question? For example, if my Book object has a ReaderComments collection, can I databind to it decaratively in the aspx mark-up?
I'm trying to bind both GridView and DetailsView to a single ObjectDataSource declaratively (in markup). I'm getting the error read as below when I tried to run it.
"The DataSourceID of 'DetailsView1' must be the ID of a control of type IDataSource. A control with ID 'ReservationsDataSource' could not be found."
It works when I bind GridView and DetailsView each seperately to my ObjectDataSource. Is it I can't bind two pagable data web controls to a single datasource?? or there is a trick needed to be done for this to work.
FYI, I'm trying to create a Master/DetailsView of my data. DetailsView of my application should show the record selected in GridView and it should be editable.
I'm doing research on framework development for my company. SInce I will be developing a framework I can not simply declaire all my control in the code in front. Receiently I've been having trouble binding the controls from my ListView to my ObjectData Source. Basicly the properties in my DataObjectTypeName are not populated when the ObjectDataSource "Update" command is thrown. I recieve no error, I just get null values. All I need is an equivalent to this statement for code-behind ...
<%# Bind("AbstractText") %>This would solve all my issues. Ofcouse I will most likely need to bind the control's ID somewhere but that is not an issue. How do I Bind a control to a property in my DataObjectTypeName from the code-behind?
I have a Gridview in the markup and I add an ObjectDataSource to the mark up which will be the gridviews data source. Is this a redundant way of binding controls? I believe using this method is good for small sites with little customisation etc. but, for large sites (multi lingual, hundreds of pages etc) I have been taught to create the controls in the mark up or code behind, then bind the controls on PreRender in the code behind. My new boss thinks this method is old school and the current way of using an objectdatasource in the mark up is the best way to do it.
i have the dataset with one table.Table contains three column like 'Name','Location','Pin'.I would like to move the data from another table based on schema.
I have a function that constructs a datatable from a file that the client uploads. And I want to bind that datatable to a listview but I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong... Say, the datatable is like:
FirstName LastName John Smith
Here's how my aspx looks like:
[Code]....
In my names.aspx.cs file, I do: lvNames.Datasource = dt; //dt is a datatable lvNames.DataBind();
When I run my aspx page, the listview is empty, is there something obvious I'm doing wrong?
I have a DevExpress WebChart Control that binds to a DataTable. The chart control renders fine from the DataTable until I try to import data from a details view(i think the chart control renders before the detailsview?).
Here is three renderings.
Chart 1. just rendering from the datatable
Chart 2 The sqldatasource gets its para. from the values of two label controls to render the detailsview. The detailsview renders fine
Chart 3, the problem comes in when I try to extract the values from the DetailsView to populate the Chart, I loose the value. I am assuming the the datatable is built before the rendering of the detailsview? Lost at this point.
Referring [URL] .... its a good functionality but instead of removing duplicate rows i need to make the cell of the column containing duplicate value blank
Okay, here's something that I could easily do the hard way and manually wire up each form element and save it to a datatable in memory, but there has to be a more efficient way to do it.
Here's what I have:
1. A strongly typed datatable and tableadapter in a XSD name Orders
2. A formview control which currently is connected to an ODS connected to the Orders tableadapter, this makes it easy to wire up the databindings for each form field in design view
I would like to:
- bind the the formview to an instance of the strongly typed datatable, and then save the dt to a session object without interacting with the actual database
- load forms on subsequent pages from the dt in session
- ultimately save the dt info to an actual database table on the third page
I've read some solutions where a custom class is created, but to me this seems like almost as much work as wiring up the form field to the table columns manually in code.
I have no clue what I'm doing wrong here, but I wanted to create a grid view based on a return from a tableadapter.
[Code]....
[Code]....
Also, maybe I should be going about this another way as I wanted to add a drop down to each record and a link to each record. On pointers on how I should do this would be great too.
I have an ObjectDataSource that is bound to a GridView. The object accepts a parameter from a TextBox. The problem I have is when I use a CustomerValidator with a ServerValidate event, the ObjectDataSource would still attempt to perform a DataBind despite the fact the the customer validator has returned false. The following is the code in the ASPX page.
protected void DateValidator_ServerValidate(object source, ServerValidateEventArgs args) { /Ensure that the entered data is a date. string input = args.Value; DateTime result; args.IsValid = DateTime.TryParse(input.TrimEnd(), out result); }
How do I stop the ObjectDataSource from data binding when validation has failed?
how can i access the my sqldatasource selected datasource for modification and adding for example new datacolumns before binding??where is the best place to perform these modifications ?i guess SqlDataSource1_Selected is the right place, but i don't know how ?
I have a webpage that uses a formview. The formview gets the data from the objectdatasource which connects to a query in a table adapter.
I wanted to add a hyperlink in the page right below the formview that will "hyperlink" to another page passing parameters. Those parameters are values from the formview.
Can I just access the parameters of objectdatasource from outside the formview as follows?(it isn't working)?:
<asp:HyperLink ID="HyperLink215" NavigateUrl='<%# Eval("VIN", "Contact.aspx?Subject={0}") %>' runat="server">Contact Us Regarding This Vehicle</asp:HyperLink>
If not, can I access those parameters in codebehind and do a redirect from there? How do I access the data of objectdatasource from codebehind? If I can do that, I could just put a button. Then in the button's click even, I could do the redirect.
Before i talk about my situation or problem let me tell you all that i'm new to ObjectDataSource, ListView.
i've following controls
Three LinkButtonOne ObjectDataSource Control (which is binded to custom Business object) . Paging is enabledListView (This is binded with ObjectDataSource Control)
Requirements:
By default ObjectDataSource should be bounded to DataSource A, thus the user should see on page load the default data from DataSource A.When user Clicks on respective LinkButton, the ObjectDataSource should now be binded to new DataSource B, thus the user should now see data in ListView from DataSource B. The same should happen with LinkButton C respecctively
Scenario: I am creating a custom gridview control which has a custom CheckBoxTemplateField column (deriving from TemplateField class). This template field column has custom Checkboxheadertemplate (implementing ITemplate) and CheckboxItemTemplate (also implementing ITemplate). In InstantiateIn method of both templates (header as well as Item template), I am adding a checkbox control which has Autopostback = true.
My requirement is: I want to mark all the values in the binding column of datasource if checkbox in headertemplate is checked. I dont want to mark only rows visible on grid. I WANT TO MARK ALL ROWS IN DATASOURCE. I want to do this in _CheckedChanged event of checkbox in header template.
Problem I am facing: When I check/uncheck the checkbox in header, it postbacks. so in OnCheckedChanged event, gridview's datasource is null. Secondly, in any event of gridview, I could access only those rows of datasource for which corresponding rows are visible in gridview through Gridviewrow.DataItem property. But I want to set it for all rows in datasource.
