I have bounded my GridView to an ObjectDataSource. I have set a delete method for this ObjectDataSource. Now how can I delete my GridView's records with enable Deleting?
View 4 RepliesI'm using the asp.net membership on my website. On the User Administration page i've got a GridView to show the details of the users on the site. As a datasource rather than just using the Membership.GetAllUsers function i've got a SQLDataSource as i need to display user information from 3 different tables. I'm trying to add a delete button to the GridView. I'm setting the Membership's UserName as a DataKey and then using the RowDeleting event to call Membership.DeleteUser for the appropriate UserName. This works fine and the user is deleted however i then get an error showing up that "Deleting is not supported by data source 'SqlDataSource1' unless DeleteCommand is specified."
I don't want to use the SqlDataSource for deleting as i've already done it using the Membership. How can i stop it from trying to do this? Here is the cut-down that i have if you're interested. The selectcommand in the sqldatasource was auto-generated by it.

I have a gridview that shows all data from a table. DataNames includes KeyId, which is a Primary Key.Yet when I try to delete a record, nothing happens, the page appears to performa refresh but the record is still there.Edit does not work either. I have created a ListView with a SQL DataSource. It has Item Template, Alternate Item Template, Insert Item Template, Layout Template, Edit Item Template & Select Item Template. There are delete buttons in the Item Template, Alternate Item Template and Select Item Template. The Delete command is

which seems correct. I have not selected Use Optimistic Consurrency when I configured the data source. When I click on the Delete button, it deletes the selected record and the record after. THe ClienNoteTypeCode is a varchar(4) field and all codes are unique. It deletes both records in SQL Server when the button is clicked, but one one is deleted on the web page until I refresh the page and then both are deleted.

I am trying to run a delete command from multiple tables and cant seem to get it to work. When you run the delete it just refreshes the gridview... Below is my delete command and parameters along with the code behind that I run.

I am using a gridview with inbuilt paging whose data source is an objectdatasource. i simply need to show the total no of records present in gridview in a label. when i use gridview1.rows.count then it will return only the total no of records present in that page. Is there a way to find out the total number of records present in gridview or in objectdatasource.

i have a gridview that is displaying data from a sqldatasource in my page_load event. i need to loop through the records and update each value of a particular column BEFORE being set into the GridView.
i have tried converting to a data set and looping through updating the values, however it seems that one i initially run my query the values get set right into the GridView and i can't update them after that.
Do I need to add one of the GridView functions like Databound and do the loop in there?
