The use of "Select Customer.CustID", with or without the Distinct, causes this runtime error. CustID is a valid field in the table, and it shows up in intellinsense and compiles. If I just Select Customer, the error goes away, but Distinct doesn't know to look for distinct custid's.
DataBinding: 'System.String' does not contain a property with the name 'CustID'.

My question is that, for each control the Stored Procedure called or not? If it is yes then it is time consuming and I need to use LINQ to DataSet or LINQ to Object rather than to call SP for each control. What is difference between LINQ to DataSet and LINQ to Object?

If I display my gridview, I have this kind of value : 6'555
When I delete this row I have this error :
Failed to define one or more properties of type DS.MY_TABLE 6'555 is not a valid value for Decimal.
Apparently, when I use a format on bind, it change my values in my ds and I cannot delete my row!
I don't understand, because in my logic with the bind format I don't need to correct some formats for delete a row !

Dec 1, 2010 im explaining this base on a test page that i have hosted as i was trying to track down my problem, i have a hosted page which i have hosted on the internet on a hosting service provider. the page has a normal gridview that is linked to a SqlDataSource. and theSqlDataSource has sql statements for selecting data, updating and deleting. They all work fine locally and even if i host them locally through IIS. but on the hosting service they down work. only the select work, which means i can view my data on the gridview but i cant manipulate it, delete and updating dont wanna work, they dont do anything. and the worse part is that im not even getting an error from them, on the grid i have enabled the autogenerate edit button and the delete, how can i make the update and delete work, or what is it that makes them not to work. the code for my test page is below

Jan 16, 2011I've created a query in the table adapter for retrieving customer name based on the first letter. The query is executed fine, and the output is the customer name and ID. A Customer BLL accesses this query, and sends the results to an objectdatasource. This control is configured to use this customer-by-letter query. However for some reason, this objectdatasource does not bind the name and ID, but instead all the other fields produced by the main query in the table adapter (i.e. name, address, phone, etc....).
I'm probably not configuring something correctly, but I'm not sure what.

All this works fine for display. However, the table must edit the level value. I am unsure how to make that happen. I have tried event handlers on the listView, but they are never called. I have tried a text box for the level field (with both Bind and Eval) and an event handler OnTextChanged, but the event handler is never called. (I have tried with various combiniations of AutoPostBack and ViewState enabled.)
How can I programatically edit this data structure?

By default ObjectDataSource should be bounded to DataSource A, thus the user should see on page load the default data from DataSource A.When user Clicks on respective LinkButton, the ObjectDataSource should now be binded to new DataSource B, thus the user should now see data in ListView from DataSource B. The same should happen with LinkButton C respecctively

Mar 26, 2011i have a dropdownlist that bind with sqldatasource1. everytime i load this page, dropdownlist will display directly the content of data.
However, what i want is display empty message like --Please select your currency-- by default.
