In the user form, the user has a chekboxList, and he can select more than one item.
how can I store those selected items in database, and how then I can retrieve them.

1) There is a checkbox list bind to <List> of objects from object datasource (For total items in list)
2) Now I want to check the selected items for a particular record in this list
3) For this purpose I have another list of <List> selected items returned by data access layer (For selected items for that employee )
4) How do I bind the selected objects with the total items list ?
5) In spaghetti coding model it was all too easy just by binding the checkbox list with a sql data source and running a for each on form load
I'm not expecting a full solution here (unless you really want to), just some tips and pointers.
I have a User table and an Area table. The User table has userID, userName etc., and the Area table has areaID, areaName etc.
I'm binding the list of Areas to a checkboxlist where the user MUST choose between 1-3 options. I'm using a stored procedure to update the DB.
Is there a common solution to this problem that I haven't found?
I have thought about saving it as a comma separated string in a field in the user table. This looks like a temporary and ugly solution though, do you think?
A nicer solution would be to create a UserArea table where I save the ID's as foreign keys from areaID and userID. But I don't know how to write this stored procedure where I update and insert the choices made.

Here is my question:
I created an .ASPX webform that is to "Submit" to a SQL 2005 database. I gave this form to my DBA, and he has made up a Data Model. Now I have to figure out how to write the ASP.NET code so it will submit to the DB. My first issue is not knowing this:
1. "How do I loop through my CheckBox List", and then insert the values checked into a "Database Table" (Each Checkbox value MUST be a seperate row in the table, the DBA does not want a seperate column for each checkbox value)
2. The database is using stored procedures

Using the products database analogy, i have an application using SQL Database tables, that needs to maintain list's of- applicable products for numerous different scenarios.
I reaslise a database is effectively a list itself, but ideally need some kind of list support as a table field, eg list of type "products" where I can list the primary key id's for each product - how to handle this situation using SQL databases?

Users are able to check/tick more than one item as they may be interested in lots of different sports. However, I realised that I'm not able to save all the items that the user has checked into the database; only an item will be saved. View 4 RepliesI am working on a page where the user first selects a state from a drop down, then a city from a checkbox list (eventually able to select multiple cities, but have to figure out how to do one first). The checkbox list is dependent upon the state selected. I would like the selected value of the checkbox to be submitted into the ListingLocation table of the database. In the code I have written I have included a label that displays the id value of the selected box when submitted just to make sure that the checkbox is providing the correct value. For some reason when I select a state and then check a city and click submit, no value is written into the database. The label text changes to the number I want entered into the database, so it is generating the correct number, but not submitting. I have included my code below.

There will be a maximun of five cells allowed to be selected so there can be one value written to one field in the database up to the maximum of the five fields. The access database has five columns: Selection1 ,Selection2, Selection3 ,Selection4 and Selection5
When the checkbox is checked, the value of one cell (PliD) should be written to each field in the database. Ie: checkbox in row 1 should write PliD value to Selection1, checkbox in row 2 should write PliD value to Selection2, checkbox in row 3 should write PliD value to Selection3 and on depending on which checkbox has been checked. I am not sure how to get the value of the checkbox and write it into the corresponding fields in the database.

All SQL Stored Procedures, Functions, Views are encrypted on the live database (using WITH ENCRYPTION in my query)
However I'm concerned I might accidentally encrypt a bunch of SProcs on my development database meaning I can no longer view/edit that code.
I have full control over the server and database, and was wondering if there is a way I can prevent these from being encrypted, therefore throwing up an error when this is attempted?
