I have a table in SQL where I insert data (CatCodes) using C# code but I want to insert ID code (DealerID) with it as well. Following is my Stored Procedure and C# code:

View 4 RepliesI'm using ASP .NET C# 3.5. I have a multiline textbox on my web form that allows for the input of up to 5,000 characters from the end-user. This text is a basic description of a training course. I need to display it out in a clearly formatted way. For example, I need there to be bullets and bold text.
What I did was I chose certain (not often used) characters and then used the .Replace method when displaying the text in an <asp:Label>. If the text in the database contains the character '~' then I replace that with a line break <br />. If it contains '`' I replace that with <b> and if it contains '^' I replace that with </b>.
Is there a better way of doing this? It is working properly, and I'm displaying the text properly, but I know the end-user is going to hate typing text like this for formatting. I do want this all to stay database driven as well
In the user form, the user has a chekboxList, and he can select more than one item.
how can I store those selected items in database, and how then I can retrieve them.
"
Is it true to make a separate column for each item, and then if selected, then that cloumn will have "1" and "0" for non selected.
"
Only that idea occurred to my mind, and I think that I can find better it.
i am creating new database in my sql server 2000.But this database donot have any system storeprocedure. I am not able to create new store procedure in this database.

href='<%# Eval("Directory")+eval("Agenda")%>
to provide a link to documents held in directory so directory contains [URL] or [URL] Agenda contains

If I declare Directory as VarChar(nnn) where nnn is large enough to accomodate the longer field, The statement <%# Eval("Directory")+eval("Agenda")%> returns
[URL]self.aspx/.Public/ 00209-FebruaryMtgMin%5E_.pdf

I need to select a field value from a database table. If the value read is '1' then I need a 'Y' to display as output in the select statement. I haven't figured out how to do this yet and queries I tried that did not work.

select IsIata CASE WHEN (IsIata = '1') THEN 'Y' from Table_1
I have access to two servers, one with my development database on, and another with the live database on.
All SQL Stored Procedures, Functions, Views are encrypted on the live database (using WITH ENCRYPTION in my query)
However I'm concerned I might accidentally encrypt a bunch of SProcs on my development database meaning I can no longer view/edit that code.
I have full control over the server and database, and was wondering if there is a way I can prevent these from being encrypted, therefore throwing up an error when this is attempted?

View 4 RepliesI am using Visual Studio 2008 and SQL Server 2008 and have added a SQL datasource to my form.
When I configure the datasource, I choose my connection string which looks like this in my webconfig:

The database I am using has a schema called EQB and as such, my stored procedures are named as EQB.usp_SelectFunds, EQB.usp_SelectAccount, etc.
On the select tab of the Configure Data Source screen, I choose to use a stored procedure. The dropdown shows my stored procedures, however, the schema name does not show up in front of the stored procedures in the drop down. I see only usp_SelectFunds, usp_SelectAccount, etc.
I select one of the stored procedures and when I click TEST, I get the message that the stored procedure is not found. If I instead choose to use a SQL statement instead on the configuration screen and enter EXEC EQB.usp_SelectFunds and click TEST, it works fine.
Why are my stored procedures not showing up correctly in the stored procedure drop down and how can I fix this?
I wanna join all the field as a new col.
but how can i ignore the empty field because i always join the field and separate by space like the following.
select (field_1+' '+field_2+' '+field_3) as new_col from TABLEA
but if the field is empty, then there is the double space
how can i ensure all the space is one space only.
I have a 20 to 30 fields on a form. Most of them are optional. However, the users can fill out what they want. If a user dosen't fill in a field when data is sent to the database it's sent as blank, instead of NULL. Is there a way I can generically say "for all textboxes if Equals("") then DBNull.Value". Without going through each and every textbox?

Initially, I have tried to use stored procedure. But I changed my mind and preferred to call sql query in codebase with command text. However, it stills tries to find initially-called stored procedure (which is neither called or exists).I think that it is related caching. But I tried it with different browsers it did not work. What might be the reason?
View 4 RepliesI have a page with list box and user can select multiple values from that lst box. Now what I want to do is when user submits the page I want to generate a comma seprated string that contins the ID's of values selected and pass this string to stored procedure. String would look like something like that '2,5,9'
Now my question is how can I split these ids in my stored procedure and get the records based on these ID's. In want to pass this array to Source coloumn in the follwoing Stored procedure and get the data. Right now following stored procedure is working on the basis of single source id passed to it.
