DataSource Controls :: Dbml Can Follow Database Changes?
Jun 15, 2010
I have MyDB.dbml in my Models folder that was created by dragging tables from Server Explorer. I'd like to make some changes to the design of those tables. Before I do that, how do I get the dbml to refresh itself?
I do expect to have to fix code where field definitions change & that's okay. I just don't want to have to start over from scratch.
If I make changes to a table or view in the datacontent (dbml), is there any way to refresh the fields in the dbml without deleting the datasource and inserting it back again?
I have a dbml file which I have added a couple of tables to. The database also contains synonyms which point to other tables in a different database. I can't seem to drag the synonyms to the design surface though?
i have some confusion using compund from in linq.I know the concept of compound from but in database table how can we use.can anyone give me example of it.
I used SQLMetal to generate a DBML file, which worked fine. The problem is that since this DBML file is so big (185,000 lines at 840Kb) it takes literally hours to load in VS2008. What is the recommended way to resolve this? I tried using a third party tool call SqlMetalInclude to break the DBML up into multiple data contexts, but that tool generates only designer.cs files, not dbml files.
I have a DBML file in C#. And I have drag and drop some Stored Procedurs in it . Now I have changed some SPs. Now I want to refresh the dbml file without drap and drop the SPs. How can I do it in C#. Is there any way that the changes Made in SPs will come with out drag ang drop the SPs.
I have ten textboxes (txtCO1, txtCO2... txtCO10).I need to set them all to the same text (blank). How can I use a for loop that just changes the number after txtCO, isntead of explicitly setting each text box's text property to ""?
in a page that i have datagrid i see that if the content of the grid has changed in the meantime then occurs thwe follow message in all browsers(different in every browser)To display this page, Firefox must send information that will repeat any action (such as a search or order confirmation) that was performed earlier.and then if i click yes resends the last post that was sended
I'm trying to figure out if it's possible to transfer records from SQL central database (who has a public IP address) into SQL local database (who doesn't have a public IP)?
or if it's not possible can I use a centralized website instead to pass some data into the local website? (but i'm not sure if it will have some security concerns)..
Creating a system with web front end and SQL backend (microsoft obviously). I have tried using the asp.netsqlprovider but i can;t as i am only allowed one database on the server, so i then tried to update my current database with the triggers to input the schema into the already existing database.Next step i create my own table with two simple fields of username and password and try and authenticate that way, i can't get that to work either.
I ahve limited permissions on the network as i am a University Student. I really don't know what to do. Never had to create a log on system before and i thought it would be far simpler than this. I ahve used Microsoft's sqlprovider schema before and it worked fine. I have also authenticated via IIS and AD too before. I can't do any of those two in this instance it seems.I need an alternative for logging in users, if needs be in can be crude. I also still need to have some kind of two different views too for logged in users and not logged in users, but that can change if needs must.Don't let me down people, haha. Think this posts in the correct place, i could not find another one i thought could be more relevant.
i would like to ask about how to sync data from client sybase database import to our sql server database regularly(set time to sync everyday) by create a file in our sql server database
I have a development database and one in production. There are two different sets of data in each database. On my dev system, I have mostly dummy data that I test with and in production is the real data for my web application. I recently added a new feature to the app that required a new table, and a new field for a foreign key in an existing table. I now need to upload that new structure to the production database without overwriting the live data with my test data.
If I run the Database Publishing Wizard, and choose "Schema Only" will it import the new structure and leave the existing data alone, or will it drop the records in my production database tables?
I am using VS 2010 I've created LiNQ .dbml file via .. Model>Add New Item>Data>LINQ to SQL Clases I've put table on designer surface using drag & drop. I've done all this from one tutorial. There Is Mapping with arrows between tables in tutorial. How can i do this?
Is there a quick and easy way to update my LINQ dbml files?Right now, if I update a Stored Procedure, I need to open the dbml designer file, delete the old SP, save, drag and drop the new SP, and save again. Dont' get me wrong, this isn't "hard"... just with all the fancy new technology out there, it would be nice to be able to just right-click and hit "update".
Stored procedure just drag here and method are created correspondence that stored procedure.
If i change any thing in any method in dbml file and drag any stored procedure here then All changes are lost.
Means if i change in a method in dbml file. And i drag a new stored procedure in that file then changes are lost and that particular method have its earlier formation that was by default generated by dbml file.
