DataSource Controls :: How To Copy Required Row In Dataset To A New Dataset
Mar 5, 2010
how do i copy required row in dataset to a new dataset. i have bind a xml into a dataset and i need to display say row 3 to 5 only so i do a for loop but i have encounter problem when trying to copy the rows to a new dataset.
do i have to write the xml to datatable and bind it to dataset and from there copy over ?
I am ready to deploy my first real website to my Hosting Server and was wondering exactly how a simple FTP or Copy of the website files will operate as opposed to proper deployment via publishing the website to a DLL?
Will my Typed Datasets within my .xsd files work normally by FTP'ing them to my server or is there something special i need to do such as build them?
Here are the file types i need to deploy:
1) .aspx and aspx.vb files for my website pages (some in folders such as Admin, etc....) 2) App_Browsers --> CSSMenuAdapter.Browser for use with the CSS Control toolkit 3) App_Code --> several .xsd dataset files. Do these just get FTP'd to the server as well???? 4) Bin --> several .dll files for using the CSS Control Toolkit, AJAX Control Toolkits, FCK Editor controls 5) CSS files and folders 6) web.config file
Can i just FTP all of the above folders and files and get the website to work, or does some of this .net 3.5 require publishing to DLL's???
Codebehind: creating dataset, getting data from sql with adaptor and filling into dataset object, then setting detailsview's datasource. I add 2 button to above template to able to edit data at asp page, and added event handlers:buttons:
[Code]....
My question is, what to do inside the detailsview update event function to able to edit and update data. My method can be wrong too.
In my project I work with Entity Framework (LINQ to ENTITY). I only have ADO.NET Entity Data Model and a DAL (Data Access Layer). I also get the data due a WCFClientService. I have a gridview that needed to be exported in Excel.
FlexCel is a tool for generating Excel files based on a template. The only thing I see in demo's is that they work with DataSets.
Is there a way to convert the data in my gridview to a virtual DataSet?
I've written the following method to get the data:
Till now I used to design RDLC file before and assigned typed dataset table columns.Report processing mode is local. But now my stored procedure returns different columns based on condition i.e columns are not fixed every time. Now I need to add that columns to typed dataset and dataset is assigned to RDLC file. So dataset and RDLC files are create dynamically based on stored procedure result set columns.
What I am thinking is this? Is it possible for me to upload the data from an excel file to dataset of my application first, so that the user can view the data in a gridview to review it first, before the user strike the save button, to save it in the database. So, that in case there is a problem, the gridview will high light all the data with an error. So the user can easily pull out the excel and correct the data before saving it in the database.
In myapp, I can create two datasets: [dstServer1] and [dstServer2]. They are coming from two tables which are in two different SQL server: [Order1] (in server1) and [Order2] (in server2). These two tables have the same data structure. How to code to compare two dataset and then insert difference into another table without using linked server?
I have a problem, I need to get a date from an SQL database using a dataset.xsd.
To do that, I have created a query in the TableAdapter called GetDataByFecha:
SELECT fecha FROM T_Tickets WHERE(fecha = @fecha)
in C# I do this:
DateTime T_fecha;
T_fecha = Convert.ToDateTime(ticketsAdapter.GetDataByFecha(fechaTicket)); but, when I compile it I get this error: cannot convert a 'T_TicketsDataTable' object to 'System.IConvertible' type.
I have dataset which is called at page load event. Also every time i clicked on refresh it will call refresh function where it store updated values from database.
Now I want only updated fields row and want to store into datatable or another dataset.
I dont want to cmp each and every iteration of the dataset. I used Getchanges() of dataset but not working.
string studentno = "select regno from stu_ref where batch='" + dropbatch.SelectedItem.ToString() + "'"; SqlDataAdapter dastudent = new SqlDataAdapter(studentno, cn1); DataSet dsstudent = new DataSet();[code]....
form the above coding i will get all values form the table stu_ref of regno of student now i need to get the first and the last regno from the table
I have a DataSet that I bind to a GridView control. I want to only show certain columns from the DataSet. Should I do that with my SQL query (that I use to populate my DataSet) or somehow with a DataView?
I'm trying to remove extraneous characters like quotes, commas, etc from my dataset. I get the fact in the standard way of doing things in your code behind you simply go
string data = data.replace(",",""); or something like this. However, a datasource doesn't seem to give me that capability. What can I do to make it do this? I'm importing data from an excel sheet into a gridview. The commas are goofing up my view. I'd like to replace any commas in the dataset with spaces. Here is the code I have.
I'm fairly new to asp.net and I'm trying get my arms around the data entry and update. I have created a nice data entry formusing a stored procedure. It works well but for a test database, it's pretty much overkill, but worthwell in learning how. I'm going through the ADO.NET quick start tutorial and I've ran across a couple of questions that I've not be able to answer. In my website,I'm wanting to edit the database by creating a separate form that is filled with the existing database information for that particular id. My main question is how to I take the information from the dataset and get it into my form. The code below is not fillingmy form. Not sure what I should be using here:
I've managed to connect to the database and return a record based upon a login name. I can itterate through the rows printing out the password but I know there's only 1 row (or can test for that) so how do I get the value of the password for the one row without the loop?
Dim supervisorAdapter As New SupervisorTableAdapters.SupervisorTableAdapter Dim supervisors As Supervisor.SupervisorDataTable supervisors = supervisorAdapter.GetSupervisorByLogin(login) For Each count As Supervisor.SupervisorRow In supervisors Response.Write(count.password) Next
