View 4 Repliesiam using c#,asp.net and iis, i want to simulate slow internet connection on my pc for testing my app. is it possible i can control bandwidth of iis. System.Threading.Thread.Sleep(someDuration); in c# file.
View 3 RepliesI am having problem in diffrentitate error between internet connection loss error and Other Error in query for example: duplicate record found.
Both the error fall into System.Data.SqlClient.SqlException category.
But the way to handle both this 2 error is different.For connection error , i need to bring user to connection loss page while for duplicate record found error, i need to show the user a pop up.
Unless i do a checking exactly on the error message , else i have no ways to differentiate connection loss error and any other error. Am i correct for this?
how to test to ensure a successful connection to SQL 2005 database (DB) before proceeding with getting user name from this sql2005 DB for example.
If connection failed don't let asp.net direct to my error page due to this in web.config.
<customErrors defaultRedirect="~/Error.aspx" mode="On">
</customErrors>
I would like to redirect user to check in as a guest when the sql2005 connection failed from the hoting company.
i am using sqlserver 2008

and it is working working smoothly in my computer
I have installed teampulse http://www.telerik.com/team-productivity-tools.aspx community. I add in bindings my domain name with port 9898 like it is with localhost. I can connect through localhost but not throuh the domain
View 1 RepliesI made a simple WCF web-service inside an ASP.net website.
The web-service is hosted by IIS and works fine on localhost, ie when accessing for exemple to
[URL] I get the correct "Hello World" response as expected.
But accessing to it by my computer hostname [URL] gets me an error 404 response. This is particularly confusing as the remaining of the site (mainly aspx pages) is accessible without any problem from both ways.
[code]....
I host my asp.net application with wcf service on IIS 7 and I want that this location could be possible at adress of my computer in lan, that other in network could get to it..
Now it looks like: http://localhost/wcfAx/Service1.svc
How to do like that : http://192.168.2.33/wcfAx/Service1.svc?
I have encountered this problem before on a few shared hosts but cant remember the fix. I have spent almost 2 days googling and I have even gone through 2 external hd's of backups of old projects and read the web.configs but I just cant put my find it and I dont think I am googling the correct terms...
I am using Mysql Connector/Net to store asp session state.
The mysql db is on the hosting server ( I have no mysql locally).
Opening a page locally creates a session in the db.
Opening a page on the host does not.
I have seen this issue before but was a long time ago and I have searched a few of the answered questions here but not too extensive, I'm sick of searching.
A project I own was just moved from an older server to a new one, and in the process of moving the web folder, re-deploying the SSRS reports, restoring the database, configuring IIS, etc... I have lost the ability to view the Microsoft Chart Controls that are embedded in the SSRS reports, that are then displayed by a Microsoft.ReportViewer.
I could view them both locally and remotely (via the internet) on the old server. I can view them if I preview the SSRS report in Visual Studio. The report displays fine, only missing all the embedded charts. I can still view them locally through the web browser, just not from the internet.
I tried giving permissions to the ChartImageHandler temp storage folder, but it didn't work.
I'm getting the Javascript error: Error: ClientReport380ec8ca0c294a809e9986c1bef9db1c is undefined
I created a simple web service in VS2010 (C# - XP Professional SP3 development computer -- running .Net 3.5/4.0) that just does the basic "Hello World" and changes Temperatues from Farenhet to Celcius functions and ran fine in VS2010. I then created a directory in C:Inetpubwwwrootwebsvcvs10a (of the same development computer). In the localhost IIS I converted this to an application directory (properties/create application). I tried to deploy my web service here using the publish wizard of VS2010 but was getting errors stating that the URL was not in the correct format, so I decided to just copy myService1.asmx, Web.Config, and the bin folder (which contains the compiled assembly) directly to C:Inetpubwwwrootwebsvcvs10a. Then from the localhost IIS I tried to browse myService1.asmx and received the following error:
Configuration Error
Description:An error occurred during the processing of a configuration file required to service this request. Please review the specific error details below and modify your configuration file appropriately.
Parser Error Message: Unrecognized attribute 'targetFramework'. Note that attribute names are case-sensitive.
Source Error: [Code]....
Source File: c:inetpubwwwrootwebsvcvs10aweb.config Line: 6
Version Information: Microsoft .NET Framework Version:2.0.50727.3615; ASP.NET Version:2.0.50727.3618
--I tried changing the targetFramework to 3.5 in web.config, but that did not fix the problem. I then removed the targetFramework attribute from web.config and then got this error message:
Could not load file or assembly 'myVS2010Websvc' or one of its dependencies. This assembly is built by a runtime newer than the currently loaded runtime and cannot be loaded.
Description:An unhandled exception occurred during the execution of the current web request. Please review the stack trace for more information about the error and where it originated in the code.
Exception Details: System.BadImageFormatException: Could not load file or assembly 'myVS2010Websvc' or one of its dependencies. This assembly is built by a runtime newer than the currently loaded runtime and cannot be loaded.
What can I / should I do to resolve this problem so that I can deploy this web service project to localhost -- don't I already have .Net 4.0 runtime on this machine? It is the same machine that is running VS2010.
I transferred my precompiled Default.aspx and all related image files to the main folder of my www.freewebs.com account. I also transferred App_Code.compiled, App_Code.dll, App_Web_c871ipga.dll, App_Web_s_wu1khu.dll, App_Web_vy0pwb06.dll, and default.aspx.cdcab7d2. compiled in a new bin folder. When I accessed the URL address for the Default.aspx file in my freewebs account, all that I got back on my browser was: This is a marker file generated by the precompilation tool, and should not be deleted!
I also tried to deploy without precompilation. However, when I transferred my uncompiled Default.aspx web page to my freewebs account and entered [URL] what I got back on my browser was only a listing of the source code for the web page complete with my C# script code. Why can't I execute an ASP.NET web page?
how is it possible to test a web application developed in VS 2008, in different internet speed connections?

View 8 RepliesI have an intranet web app that uses .NET and Windows Authentication and IIS 7.5.
I originally accessed it with the URL http://computername ... that worked fine and there was no prompt for the username & password.
Then we set up a DNS entry and a host header so we could access it with a more realistic url (for example http://appname.mydomain.org) - I can still get to the site, but there's a username & password prompt even if I'm on the same network. We want to get
rid of this prompt...
I was able to remove the prompt by adding http://appname.mydomain.org to my Intranet sites in Internet Explorer settings - but is there a global fix or a server-side fix for this that wouldn't involve changing a setting on every client computer? My users and not technical at all and they're not going to know how to change that setting.
Alternatively, is there a way that an administrator could push this Internet Explorer setting to all computers on the network? I'm a software developer not a network admin so I'm a bit over my head on this one ... I would probably need to give them instructions about how to do it even though it's not my specialty.
In my DAL i have more than 100 methods/Function, each and every method am opening the sqlconnection and closing the connection, this is taking too much of time to establish the connection at every time. So what i expect is one common class will create the SqlConnection that will check if the connection is Broken or Closed then create the connection again else return the connection, how to do this(Also i would like to apply ConnectionPooling).
View 7 RepliesI m getting error while running page(.aspx)
"Login failed for user 'HOME-D6A8A84CE4ASPNET'." and at the same time i m also getting error

im developing a web app in asp.net. it works fine when i run it from visual webdeveloper. however when i run it from localhost i get the following error:
Server Error in '/zoo_webservices' Application.
The SELECT permission was denied on the object 'Zoo', database 'zoo_network', schema 'dbo'.
How can I test an application that I am publishing to a remote provider's IIS7 hosted site, with the VS2008 development server that is built in with VS2008 on an XP Machine?
My membership/roles work perfectly up on the remote host. On ths hosted IIS7 site when I try to access a secure directory it redirects to login, and I am able to login, however when I launch (debug - F5) from VS2008, it will provide that folder/resource, no questions asked. Same build, config, etc... nothing has changed.
I am running XP, and local IIS version installed is 5.1.
My guess is what is happening is that the new format required in the web.config is configured properly for IIS7 deployment, which is why it works remotely, but when running locally through VS2008/XP it is running with an older version on IIS and does not recoginize the new tags.
I am having a domain name and web space (the web is running, its ASP.net 3.5). I am working on a project in which I need to connect 2 computers over the internet.
Is it possible to do that with a simple ASP.Net website? What other things I do need to do this?
EDIT
Actually I want to send the data from one computer to another in real time, I mean as we do chatting we exchange text to one another. The same thing I want to achieve.
I am about to give up debugging SMTP servers to send email... My code is the following
SmtpClient mailClient = new SmtpClient("plus.smtp.mail.yahoo.com", 465);
mailClient.EnableSsl = true;
MailMessage message = new MailMessage();
message.To.Add("aditya15417@hotmail.com");
message.Subject = "permias-tucson-contact-us";
mailClient.Credentials = new NetworkCredential("myemail@yahoo.com", "mypassword");
MailAddress fromAddress = new MailAddress(Email.Text, Name.Text);
message.From = fromAddress;
mailClient.Send(message);
i have few variable in login page that is read from db.If the internet connection is loss suddenly during read process, my frst page is not able to be loaded and show to user.I am thinking to have this page show when internet connection lost. Is it possible to do so?The page is shown as the picture below :
View 2 RepliesI'm getting a lot of these error messages in my logs on one of my servers and intermittently on two others.Googling didn't reveal very much information, mostly related to file uploads or downloads being interrupted. My pages are basically just text files with "ok" in them that only have .aspx extension for future plans, there's no actual code powering the pages. Servers are all Windows Server 2008 RC2 x64 running IIS7 / ASP.NET 4.Statistically it's happening well under 1% of the time but because of the volume of traffic that still clutters my event log with 2 or 3 of these messages per minute.Edit:tracked down the problem, setting buffering to true stopped it occurring.
