DataSource Controls :: Use Dataset To Display Sum Where User= User.identity.name(not Use Gridvew, Or Formview)?
Oct 27, 2010
i want to use dataset , or any thing ... to display Sum * where user= user.identity.name(not use gridvew, or formview) because i have more then 100 columns . i m newbie. realy , 1 month, it not solve, sometime , i want to give up
I have a FormView and the SELECT statement I have is as follows:
SelectCommand="SELECT [UserName], [Full_Name_1], [Full_Name_2], [Email], [Address], [City], [State], [Zip_Code], [Home_Phone], [Cell_Phone] FROM [Homeowners] WHERE ([UserName]='<%$ User.Identity.Name %>')"... but it results in the FormView disappearing from the web page. Note: at the top of the page, <%= user.identity.name %> displays the name fine, so user.identity.name does contain the info I'm looking for.I am trying to figure out how to correctly format the SELECT filter to feed user.identity.name to the SELECT statement as a filter. ... or if there is an alternative way.
I was wondering how I could use user.identity in a where statement in sqldatasource to return results for a user profile. I already have a table that stores the username. Just need to return it's results.
I would like users to upload a profile picture when they register, and to then show that picture in a picture box control when they are logged in based on that specific user.
get the below error. My application was working fine until I probably modified something, but don't know what.

I have created a web services (WCF) and i have a webmethod that return a string that string is a HTTPCONTEXT.USER.IDENTITY.USER unfortunately it does not return any value.
In the IIS, it shows that the web app (i'm using) is using an application pool that uses NETWORK SERVICE account for identity. But when I debug/run my web app, User.Identity.Name shows that my windows user login instead. I checked my web.config file, and it does not have Impersonate enabled. In fact, I set it to false, and it still shows the same.
i currently work on an asp.net mvc 2 project and noticed that inside an asp.net mvc view page i can get the user name authenticated via User.Identity.Name, but if i try to use the DsiplayFor method in order to display my model from a view user control, it just does not exist. Could i pass this parameter to my model using additional ViewData parameter that comes with DisplayFor html extension?
In IIS Manager center pane, there is an icon titled "Authentication" as follows: Clicking the icon, we get 3 items as follows: Right clicking the Anonymous Authentication and select edit, we have: Question: which one should I use? What is the difference?

I am making a Human resource Management system in which i have to make employee profiles, there is a page in which i am entering employee name and uploading a rofile picture and i want the next page to show that image on a left corner of every employee...after clicking on the submit button of the previous page !
To avoid going to the Databse to get the user Id, Id like to append userId to the Context.User.Idenity.name field. This way I can split the returned string to get the UserId without going to the database.
Where can I do this when using the login controls?
<script type="text/javascript"> function ClientTime() { var dt = new Date(); var ss = dt.getSeconds(); var mm = dt.getMinutes(); var hh = dt.getHours();
i have 10 columns, diffrence user insert (rows)many time, i want to display in page lick this :select Sum where userid=user.identity datetime =date.now and send sum of each columm to 10 labels on page.
Hardware involved: SQL Server 2000 Microsoft Server 2003 with IIS6 [code]...
The goal, from internal department (user) perspective:A department wants to "upload" an excel spreadsheet of data (product, term, rate, etc) to SQL (this will be from the internal network). The data is then saved to a webpage location for that department to view and approve. Once "approved," this data is displayed on the live web servers (public-facing website which is two load balancing servers). Bonus:
The .NET application/SQL Server can send an email to the department reminding them to upload the latest rates (each weekday morning, then each Thursday afternoon) if rates have not yet been "approved."
From the development perspective, this is my general idea, but I may be wrong. There are three spreadsheets, each with one tab. The first spreadsheet is uploaded, and the .NET application puts it in a SQL table. I then need to display this table of data on a .aspx page for the department to approve before the .aspx page is pushed to the live web servers.
First, I need an interface for this department to upload Excel files. I need this application to save the data to SQL and display it in a .aspx page so that the department can look it over and approve it. The department needs a way to "approve" the page, and this action will push the data to the live web servers. Will this involve SQL data transformation services?
I find the repetition of sets of controls for each of the EditItemTemplate, InsertItemTemplate, and ItemTemplate templates of a FormView to be tedious and risky, in terms duplicating layout and code etc. I would much rather create a xxxDetails user control, and use this in each template, cutting layout and code location down to one location.
However, this introduces several complexities for data binding scenarios. Are there any extablished patterns or practice guides for using user controls in these scenarios?
I need to create Unit Tests for an ASP.NET MVC 2.0 web site. The site uses Windows Authentication.I've been reading up on the necessity to mock the HTTP context for code that deals with the HttpContext. I feel like I'm starting to get a handle on the DI pattern as well. (Give the class an attribute of type IRepository and then pass in a Repository object when you instantiate the controller.)
What I don't understand, however, is the proper way to Mock the Windows Principal object available through User.Identity. Is this part of the HttpContext? have a link to an article that demonstrates this (or a recommendation for a book)?
I use FormsAuthentication.RedirectFromLoginPage(userName.Trim(), false); to set the User.Identity.Name field that I reference later. When I execute this line, the User.Identity object does not update at all; it contains whatever it was previously set to. All the documentation I see online says this should update my User.Identity object with the correct name, but I don't see that happening.
I have the web config set up properly with the following lines:
