Mar 29, 2010I am using SQL Server 2008 and Full Text search.
Its working fine for PDF / doc files but not working for .JPG files.
Basically i have some document scanned and stored it in varbinnary datatype in DB.
I am able to search for .doc /.xml /.pdf files .. but not able to search .jpg.
also i am not getting ".jgp" extension in result of following query

Pop Up Window / Display A Text Box To Search And A Button To Submit The Search?
Apr 24, 2010I wanted to a window to pop up when the user clicks on an image. In the pop window, i want to display a text box to search and a button to submit the search. Also on the same pop up, i want to use a radiobutton list to give the option of choosing to search by first name or last name.on searching, i want to display a list of employee names matching the search and give a radio button next to each of them to select the record. On selection, the user will click an OK button below the records. On clicking OK, the pop up window should close and the employee id of the employee selected should be visible in the text box next to the image.Does anyone have an idea of how to do this, because i am not too sure that i have explained it properly.

Feb 22, 2011 I have been asked to build an ASP.Net website that has a custom search, when the page is loaded it displays a gridview with a list of data, then when a button is pressed it takes the value from the text box and runs a stored procedure using the value, the gridview then databinds successfully displaying the new data. But the select button does not take the rows data it takes the data from the row corresponding to the data when the page is loaded, not from the search button.

To Build A Multi-View Search Form For A Travel Company?
Jan 26, 2011I have a requirement to build a "Search" form for a travel company. This search form will be used for searching different travel components such as Flights, Hotels, Cars etc.Most of the fields in the form are common (such as travel dates, origin and destination cities etc) for all components but will also contain some component specific fields (such as Business/First/Economy Class & Nonstop Flight Indicators for Flight Search).Even though most of the fields are common, they need to be displayed with component-specific labels.for example:"travel dates" would say "check-in & check-out dates" on Hotel search form where as they would say "departure & return dates" on Flight search form.What is the best approach to design a search form which would display field with component-specific labels and also provides a way to map/associate fields to components (common fields to all component types and component-specific fields to corresponding component)? Is there something similar to Data Annotations for achieving this behavior?

May 21, 2010i want to search for data in informix using a like('%Name1%') from my .NET application. The query that i have written is something like this:
select * from tableName where columnName Like CONCAT('%',CONCAT('Name1','%')) ......
this query when run from the front end does not yeild the desired result set ......however when i execute it from the db level i get the correct result .... also an intersting thin that i noted is ...if i do a LIKE('%' || 'Name1' || '%') from the front end i get a syntax error ...however this works just fine when i execute the query from the db...... ive spent over 10 hrs trying to figure this out ......but have not found a solution for it on my own ...... also, the following works perfectly :select * from tableName where columnName LIKE CONCAT('%','Name1') .....from the application...
likewise select * from table name where columnName like CONCAT(Name1,'%') works ...........* the vale fields need to be replaced with a '?' in the front end ...informix automatically replaces it when executing the command statement....so the commantext for all informix commands look something like this :
select ColumnName from tableName where columnName1 LIKE CONCAT('%',CONCAT(?,'%'))
parameter is 'Name1'

Some of the database entries, like category, is stored as integer values, but I want to display the category name in the search result (not the corresponding integer value). I have also another issue, every time I change the dropdown list values (which are having "auto postback" enabled) the <EmptyDataTemplate> is returned. At this moment I am using GridView. But I am ready to change this to any other method, like repeater or whatever...
