i'm new here , and i'm a beginner with asp.net.well ,i've created an authentification page.the data are stored in a table in the orcl database.i haven't really figured out how to connect to orcl : i've seen a way with description in the tnsnames.ora file,but in don't know what should i put in the host field , it says 172.6.but i don't know if it exact.

I was wondering how to receive an individual field from my MySQL database.
I have been able to get a row, but what I am trying to do is get a name from my database and set it into the HeaderText in my DataGrid.
The way I am trying to do it at the moment is

This doesn't seem to get a value from the GetValue, but if use
[Code]....
it will bind my data into the grid.
I just want to be able to change the HeaderText in the first coulmn of the DataGrid from one table and have the DataGrid be filled from another table.
I can fill the DataGrid its just changing the HeaderText that I am having trouble with.
I am using a cursor to iterate through a small set of record (28), perform some maths on each record and then update the record / row.
The problem is the cursor pulls in all nulls for every field in every row
It also gives me 28 rows, 28 times (see below)

Not that it should matter.. the 2nd value in the csv is an IP address.. its in the file as 192.168.7.25(just an example), but gets read as 192.1687, if the file is setup as delimited in the connection string, does that have any restraints on the data being read? When i open the file in notepad, the comma is at the end of the IP address, when i open it in excel it is in its own column.. so what could be causing this? Because of this issue with the truncation, that is what is causing the primary key issue.. because there are other values that are similar like these:
192.168.7.25
192.168.7.26
192.168.7.45
because if the issue, it passes each one of those as 192.1687 Here is the table structure, in case it helps resolve this issue.

I have 2 sites. One of them was developed by a .Net programmer. Now I am contracted to implement a PHP site and fetch data from the .Net site.
There is an ASP.Net form that a customer fills and when they hit submit, the data gets stored in SQL Server DB. How do I also store the same data in MySQL parallelly? I cannot directly use some database connectors with ASP.Net since MySQL connectivity is not supported on 1and1 Windows hosting (biz account, no less!).
What I thought of is to publish an RSS feed of entries in ASP.Net site and routinely scrape that data into MySQL on Linux host. It is an overkill, I know. Not efficient.
I have one IIS entry with AppPool integrated mode. There are 5 or more host headers assigned. The application pulls data based on the host name from Request.Url.Host. When I have 2 or more sites open at the same time the value of the Request.Url.Host is the same across all the sites. About every 30 seconds it resets itself to the correct value from the last request and shows that value on the other sites. So ultimately the sites are loading the same data. The value in the HOST server variable is incorrect as well.

I am writing to excel file using jet driver. If the length of value exceeds 255 characters i get the below error.'The field is too small to accept the amount of data you attempted to add. Try inserting or pasting less data'Please could you provide a solution to how can i add values with length greater than 255. Excel file is 97-2003 format.

I am using a GridView Control to display multiple fileds with 0's and 1's.

I have defined a field validator that works fine on normal behavior on a page:

Now if I dont insert any text in the TextBoxHouseNumber field, and push submit, the FieldValidator fires as it should. But if I now click a button that automatically fills the TextBoxHouseNumber with text from a Jquery/Ajax function, the field validator still shows. Itīs like "Hey, the user hasnt made any changes to the textbox, so I wont bother check it".
I have a DetailsView on the page and I have made one of the fields a TemplateField. In the EditItemTemplate and InsertItemTemplate I have a DropdownList that is databound to a table in my Sql Server database. I wanted to add an initial value to the DropdownList
namely "- select -" .
I set the AppendDataBoundItems property to true and added the initial value as a ListItem.Markup of the DropdownList

This works fine for new input. The problem is however that the database already has records that were entered through a Windows Application and many of these records has a null value in this field and exceptions are thrown when I tried to open these records
and the system tried to set the SelectedValue of the DropdownList.After some more searching I found this help

So I changed the ListItem in the DropDownList markup to the following:

This now solved the problem of opening a record where the value is null in the database, BUT now the RequiredFieldValidator is not validating anymore to make sure that a databound item is selected for this field and not the initial value "- select -". So basically now it is not checking anymore to see if valid input has been entered for the DropDownList and it accepts "- select -" thus it acts as if the field is not a required field anymore.
In short what is required is that I want to make sure that the user enters a valid selection in the DropDownList, but it must also cater for old records that do not have this field entered yet so that those old records can be opened in the DetailsView .Opening Old records (with null in that field):When these old records are opened in the DetailsView the DropDownlist should show "- select -" when the value in the database is null.
Saving records (old or new records):When saving the record in Insert mode or Update mode the RequiredFieldValidator should show that a valid input is not selected if the DropDownList is still on "- select -".
I have a aspx page with a ascx control inside an ascx control and the required field validator is not hit on the action of the page.
The issue is with the 2nd nested ascx control. The field validators in the first ascx control validate correctly, but with the ascx control inside the ascx control there are issues.
The nested ascx control is a repeater control and this may be the reason, but I am unsure.
I'm not exactly sure what question to ask, but I'll list a few below.
How do I attach the field validators up a level to the 1st ascx control?
Is it possible to put required fields into a nested ascx control?
