Databases :: Unable To Import Database File Into MSSQL Using 'My Little Admin'?
Sep 13, 2010
I am pretty good with HTML, PHP & MYSQL but this is my first go at working with a windows host and an ASP script. I recently purchased a script that matches my clients needs and when i have opened the folder to view the files its all double dutch to me apart from one css files which makes perfect sense to me!
Im stuck with is the database file included in the template, i ave been unable to import it into MSSQL using 'My Little Admin' which is the control panel provided by my hosting provider. Looking through the file with notepad it seems to contain the information for several tables but i cannot figure out for the life of me how i import it with 'My Little Admin'
Im trying to import a semiolon seperated file into mssql db 2000 table and I need your help.I can read the file and present the content in a for loop, but I would like to extract values at certain possions.Like "Fel Beskrivning;Konktakt fƶrare; and so on.
My employer is changing hosting providers. Our current hosting provider offers MSSQL which we use for the database used on our website. The host we are changing to is insisting that we switch to MySQL because they only offer an older version of MSSQL and are concerned about compatibility issues.I have absolutely no experience working with MySQL and am a novice with MSSQL as well. What is the best way for me to port a database from one to the other?I have downloaded MySQL and Workbench... I've also downloaded the .Net connector as a zip file but am not sure where to extract its contents.
i have some excel file which export from sybase, but it can only export to Excel ver2.1.then I connect and import to SQL Database. The result is error and prompt cannot read the Excel format. Finally I try use Excel 2003 to open the exce v2.1 and save as 2003 version. Then import again, it can success to import to SQL database.my connection string excel properties = 8.0i tried to change 8.0 to 2.1 or 5.0, the result is still cannot import. how to import v2.1 directly. no need use Excel to open and save again.another question, if I want import more than one excel, how can I import all one time only.
This may not the best place for this question, but I'm going to give it a shot. I have a large (3GB) file that contains maybe 100 fields, CSV. ALL FIELDS are surrounded by double quotes, a standard CSV file. So, it looks like this:
"12345678", "SMITH", "JOHN", "GARLAND, TEXAS", "75043","","","","37" (and so on)
I need to import this into SQL server but have been unable to find any simple way of doing so using the BULK INSERT. I could obviously do it with some coding [a lot, given the number of fields] but one would think a product like MSSQL would have this most basic of functionality built in.
I am unable to import xlsx file in Asp .Net getting below error:-
Could not find installable ISAM.
I am using below code for importing xlsx file:-
'function Protected Function ExcelConnection() As OleDbCommand ' Connect to the Excel Spreadsheet Dim xConnStr As String = "Provider=Microsoft.Jet.OLEDB.4.0;" & _ "Data Source=C:Users cs0028DesktopUpload1.xlsx;" & _ "Extended Properties=Excel 12.0;" ' create your excel connection object using the connection string Dim objXConn As New OleDbConnection(xConnStr) objXConn.Open() Dim objCommand As New OleDbCommand("SELECT * FROM [Sheet1$]", objXConn) Return objCommand
I am unable to restore database in form of .bak files using Microsoft SQL Server Management Studio Express. It gives following error message:
Too many backup devices specified for backup or restore; only 64 are allowed. RESTORE HEADERONLY is terminating abnormally. (.Net SqlClient Data Provider)
Iām trying to read images from an excel file using OleDbDataReader. My excel file has 6 columns of data, the first 5 are all text but the last is image. While Iām reading the record, It's doing fine on the first 5 columns but return me with a for the sixth column.
im using sqlbulkcopy to import all the columns and rows in an excel file to a database. My question is, if my database has 1 more extra column which i have to map it to a session variable and that extra column in the database is not found in the excel, isit possible to do something like dat?
i have different tables for product details, images, category mapping
is there any way to import/export products by excel file in database along with category mappying and pictures in one go rather that importing just the products and then categorizing each product and adding image one by one ?
i am trying to restore database.bak in sql server 2005 (i know the database.bak was also generated in sql 2005 server)
i am trying to restore back up database .bak into the new database i just created in sql server 2005i have saved my database .bak into c drive and when i select database .bak "From Device", it doesn't get populated in the list below and i see nothing and it keeps on prompting a message"You must select a restore source"
Here's the screen shot: (i tried restoring database in sql server 2008 and it was sucessful but i am facing this problem in sql server 2005 only)
I'm writing a reporting tool that, as a starting point, needs to create a DB table from a csv file. This csv file will have been created from exporting data from our old system (with the new system being the reporting tool) and can have up to 300 columns of data. I've been trying as follows:
[Code]....
but am finding that only the first 255 columns get put in. I am assumg that the Jet driver is the one that is limiting the columns, or is there a registry setting somewhere that'll solve it quickly?
Is there another approach that'll work? I've though of the following, but as it'll take a while to recode and test each time I thought I'd ask the experts first!!
BULK INSERT: would mean that I'd need to pre-create the table first, but if the issue is with the Jet driver I'd surely get the same problem? Use a datatable: it seems pretty fiddly and probably a lot slower, but I guess I could read into a dataset and then bind that to a table to insert? Again the table would need to exist and the driver that I use to read from the csv would be the issue? Do it one row at a time in a loop in the code: assuming I can read the file as text, I could then split the data in code into an array and create a insert statement (again to an existing table) for each row. With what could be 1000s of rows I can't imagine that this is the fastest solution!
