Aug 31, 2010Date format is 1:55:25 AM in the excel file, after reading using ExcelReaderFactory.CreateBinaryReader, I get the 0.0451388888888889.

Oct 7, 2010I have been trying to import from an Excel file and insert it into a table. I can upload the Excel file. I can view the Excel file in a grid But when I run the import process to insert the rows in the Excel file I get only one row and it has all nulls except the dateentered and entered by field. I added breakpoints and tried setting a couple of the fields to labels and I could see that data was getting to the reader.

I need to import the excel file directly from their local folders. SO they need to be able to pick it from there my documents and import the file into sql. IS this possible? The problem that I'm having is that dates are just written in columns as strings and not initialized with the proper cell format. Is there any way to format the date without any 3rd party software by just setting the value of a cell with a string??

I get following error when exporting to Excel.
"The file you are trying to open, 'someFileName[1].xls, is in a different format than specified by the file extension. Verify that file is not corrupted and is from a trusted source before opening the file. Do you want to open the file now?"
Clicking Yes opens the file. I would like to avoid showing the above error to the users.
