My web server does not have the framework installed and they are telling me to use the DLLs in bin folder.. is there any difference (performance, security etc) between deploying it by server installation and through bin..
i just want to confirm if what am trying to do is a good deployment practice. i have two applications am deploying. A web application using web setup project and a windows application using setup project. Due to some constraints, am merging the two deployments and so i intend installing the windows application in the intepub folder (same location as where the *.aspx will reside). Is this crazy? the windows application has a windows service
Main Solution Business Class C# Project Module1 f1class1.cs f1class2.cs Module2 f2class1.cs f2class2.cs Module3 f3class1.cs f3class2.cs UI Project (aspx,aspx.cs,bin,app_code) Module1 page1.aspx page2.aspx Module2 page3.aspx page4.aspx Module3 page5.aspx page6.aspx
For every deploy the UI Project is published and moved to all the sites. All the Modules use the same Business Class C# Project. Basically every page will use some common classes in Business Class C# Project >> Module1 Now what i need is to just deploy Module3 independent of full deploy. This shouldnt disturb the existing functionality for the remaining modules as they are already working fine in Production. So only the Module3 business class and Module3 aspx changes need to be deployed. The problem here is Module3 business class is a part of Business class C# Project. Is there a way to just deploy Module3 Business Class, ASPX when ever required without having to move the Business Class C# Project.
In above link you clearly describe (How to display directory folder structure).
The path only works when the folder insight the project.
When I put folder outside the project it didn't work. What type of changes I need to made to acces the folder outside the poject. & How can I show other details of files which are including in folders Like. Last Modified Created Date, Modified Date etc..
Actually I want to deploy(run) my asp.net 2.0 application using ajax control toolkit2.0 on remote server. Also I have added all the required dlls to the bin folder. Now apart from that Will i have to install ajax extensions on server(OS- Windows Server 2003, IIS 6.0)
I am new to Ajax Control Toolkit, with the help of online tutorials I had created a cascading dropdown list in asp.net and tested it on my local machine. For this dropdown list data source would be an xml file (which is saved on my local machine c drive). I haven't encountered any issues until I deploy the precompiled web site on to IIS 7. When I open the web site from IIS I would see the two dropdown boxes on the web page with an error "Method error 500". I believe this error occured due to incorrect xml file path provided on IIS. I had copied xml and xsd files into IIS server C drive but it did not help out and then I created a network map and placed the xml and xsd files in that shared folder tried to access that path from web service, it's working on local machine but not on IIS. It would be great, if any one could explain me the solution.
I am using XAMPP to publish my a .net application. The server is working fine. I created a sample login.aspx file, and it works fine. I deleted the sample login file, and I build and copy all the files to the XAMPP directory. When I tried to acces the page, it gave an error message "Access forbidden! You don't have permission to access the requested object. It is either read-protected or not readable by the server. If you think this is a server error, contact the
I have created a dll using .net->classlibrary,which fetches the mac id of client machine.I implemented it in a web application using javascript and it works well in server and client machines in the network.but for that,I have to register the dll using regasm commands in each client machine manually. but I want to use the dll in a senario where I cannot able to register it manually in each client machine...so my Idea is to create a cab file containing the dll and implement it in the login page of web application(using javascript? or codebehind?which is suitable) so that when the client opens the login page, the cab file that contains the dll extracts itself and get installed in the client machine and fetches the mac id of the client machine to the server. Is this the suitable way?if so how can i create the cab file holding my dll?any links? how can I implement it in the web appln?
i have created a website in vs 2008. and i want to deploy that website on other system. i don't want to give all the source(just like .exe file not source).
I wrote a web project in VS 2005 using the AJAX Control Toolkit, now I'm resuming this project in a new machine and some AJAX components such as Cascade drop down doesn't works in none page.if I start a new project it works fine, so i think the problem is in the project I wrote years ago. when I try to include new ajax components I get an error message like "Attemted to read or write protected memory. this is often an indication that other memory is corrupt." and in the status bar keep saying, "adding reference to 'AjaxControlToolkit.dll'..."
I am new to ajax. here's the problem I have. in my bin folder, I have so many different copies of AjaxControlToolkit.resources.dll in different languages.
I'm working on an ASP.NET (.NET 4, VS2010) app that needs folder browsing/picking capabilities. I've got it mostly working, but I'm stuck on one last thing. (see below) Also, I'm using AJAX UpdatePanel, TreeView control, and AJAX Control Toolkit ModalPopupExtender.
When I go to the page, I load the TreeView with a top node and a first set of child nodes, which are the found drives of the server. Then I click a LinkButton to open the ModalPopupExtender, which contains the TreeView. When I click the nodes of the TreeView, the node expands and builds a set of child nodes which are the folders found.
What I want to happen is to allow the user to navigate through the TreeView, selecting drives and folders until they find the one they're looking for. Then they click OK to return the path selected back to the main form.
The problem is that any click of any node in the TreeView causes a postback and my ModalPopup closes. how to accomplish this task? That is, how can I keep the ModalPopup open while the user clicks through nodes of a TreeView in which the child nodes are populated dynamically?
EDITED To make issue more clear. I have also discovered this same issue with validatorcallout extensions used in a usercontrol in a root page and a subfolderpage
I have a strange issue I cannot figure out. I have a usercontrol that is used to display news story details. One of the requirements is to be able to email the story to someone. In this control I have included a modal popup to do contain the email form. What is really strange is that if the control is used in a page in a subfolder themodalpopup works as designed but when the control is in a page in the root folder while the usercontrol still works, themodalpopup control stops working.
Controls/StoryDetails.ascx
[Code]....
This control gets placed within a masterpage via a base MasterPageClass when there is a storyid in the querystring object
[Code]....
When the master page resides at the root level the popup doesn't work but in anyother folder it does work.
I'm making a asp.net web project using visual web developer 2010. I want to use ajax control toolkit so I have dowloaded the compressed folder and I added a tab in my project with all the ajax control toolkit. The problem is when I try to run the project it gives me the following message: " It's impossible to find the file 'd:hgactServerAjaxControlToolkitExtenderBaseExtenderControlBase.cs'.
After an Internet researcj , I supposed that this error is caused by the fact that I created a simple web project, while I had to create a ajax web toolkit project. The question is:how can I create it?? In the home page of visual web developer 2010 the model "ajax control toolkit web site" doesn't appair in the installed models!! How can I import it, or can I solve this problem in general?
Is it true that it has been originated that the fact I created a simple web project instead of a ajax control toolkit project?
I am working on asp.net 3.5 in C#. In my application I have to Create folder and upload file in that folder, which works fine on my machine. I want help for create folder and upload file in that folder on other machine which is connected in LAN. code for create folder and Upload file on my machine
Im trying out the Hudson Continuous Integration. After the build is executed i want to copy the content of the ReleaseBuild to another website on the server. This should be possible i guess but i cant seem figure it out.I know this can be done in nAnt and msbuild but i need to make Hudson do it, eg plugin or something.
I have a simple photo album. I have some catories in db and corresponding folders. For example, when user creates a category called "Asp Net" in db then a folder called "AspNet" is created. Then user can upload photo and all photos are displayed as thumbnail. No photo is saved in db, they are directly saved lets say AspNet folder. I just fetch filelist from intended folder and list them. However I want user to be able to update category name or delete it. To keep consistency, corresponding folder should be updated or deleted. But when I try it throws exception: Access to the path 'xxxxx" is denied.
I want to create a folder to store some web controls, so the site structure doesn't have a zillion files in the root.
Except that if I create an ordinary folder, that folder is also visible on the web site. MSDN said you cannot put it in App_Code, and it doesn't really make sense to put it in other special folder like App_Data or App_Theme.
We store backup archives in subfolders of a folder on one of the server's external USB drive. I would like to have an ASP.NET app read the contents of this folder so the manager can view the backup files to confirm backups are working and optionally delete these backup files when an old drive is reconnected so it can be used for the next weeks backups.
This backup folder is oubviously outside the server's webroot. Is there some way I can grant authority so the ASP.Net app can access this folder for this purpose? I would be using VS Web Express, so can't create any signed packages and such.
I have an ASP.NET website and I want to find the /bin/[Configuration] folder to use an external tool (an exe file). When I use reflection to get calling assemblies location it returns something similar to:
C:WindowsMicrosoft.NETFramework\...Temporary ASP.NET Filesa1388a5e\...my.dll
Since each dll has its own directory under the temp ASP.NET Files this fails for me. How can I get the location of the compiled binary folder where the dll's and the .exe is (i.e. bin/) instead of asp.net's temporary cache?
I have a class file stored in the app code folder. A certain page that I want to access is inside its own folder within the root and it is using the namespace within the class file in the app code folder. How do I tell the application where the file is? I'm sure I could put the code in a file inside my folder, but I'd rather not have duplicate code in two different files... unless there is a way to make a reference of some type.
I have a folder with png images that are not shared or public (the folder is outside my application folder). Now I want my users to be able to view thoose images only if they are logged in (different users, different images). All images have a name that correspond to the users id. My idea is to stream thoose images into the asp:Image control, is that possible? How do I do that? Other (better) solutions?
