I've been trying to deserialize the following JSON output into a vb.net object:

The following is what i've done so far:

I have problems reading the array value of "t". I'm quite sure that the problem lies in the PageTags() but i'm not sure how to go from here.

Deserializing A PHP Json Encoded (json_encode) String With .NET Webservices

I am really struggling deserializing a PHP json encoded string in ASP.NET.I am using nusoap and CakePHP 1.3 on the PHP side and mvc.net 4.0 on the web service side and everything was working well. However, I couldn't figure out how to pass a complex array as one parameter of the webservice, so I had the idea of serializing it as json and passing a simple string. So far so good...

$args['products'] = json_encode($booking['Booking']['prs_products']);

Get Only JSON String As Output Without Any Html

Jan 22, 2011

I am developing a webiste in ASP.NET. On one of the pages page named menu.aspx, with the help of a certain login, I am getting the output in this format

foo({"1":"Jeff","2":"Mik","5":"Tom"});

I am using this code to get the output on the JSON form.

However, I must get the output only in simple JSON on the page without any HTML.

For eg: Here's the screenshot showing the source of the output page. [URL]

Notice that it has only the JSON string as the output.

And here's the screenshot showing the output page source (with HTML). [URL] .This HTML is what I have to remove. How can do I do this? The full code of menu.aspx.cs is putup here. [URL]

MVC :: JQuery JSON Array Parameter?

Apr 21, 2010

.I am using VS2010 Ultimate in an out of the box HelloWorld MVC2 ProjectI am using JQuery 1.4.1I have the following code in my View:

function TestStringArray() {
var stringArray = new Array();
stringArray[0] = "item1";

[code]...

Forgetting my controller actually needs to return a Json result (I have a break on the return View() line), the values parameter is null. When I pass in a single string (change the type from List<String> to String in the controller, pass in a single string value from the View), it works fine. Looking at Fiddler, the array is passing the multiple values.I did some research and people are suggesting JSON.Stringify ion the JSON2 library, the JSON.NEt library, etc... Do I really need extra libraries? Microsoft didn't think of this scenario for out of the box? I assume the problem is any kind of complex type.

Serializing Two Dimensional Array With Newtonsoft.json

Apr 20, 2010

I am getting an error when trying to serialize an object products.
Product product = new Product();
product.Name = "Apple";
product.Expiry = new DateTime(2008, 12, 28);
product.Price = 3.99M;
product.Sizes = new string[3,2] { {"Small","40"}, {"Medium","44"}, {"Large","50"} };
string json = JsonConvert.SerializeObject(product);//this line is throwing an error

Array was not a one-dimensional array. Is there any way to serialize a two dimensional array with Newtonsoft.json.

"[{"access_token":"thisistheaccesstoken"}]"

I know how to do it if the json was:

"{array=[{"access_token":"thisistheaccesstoken"}]}"

I'd do it like this:

public class AccessToken
{
public string access_token {get;set;}
public DateTime expires { get; set; }
}
public class TokenReturn
{
public List<AccessToken> tokens { get; set; }
}
JavaScriptSerializer ser = new JavaScriptSerializer();
TokenReturn result = ser.Deserialize<TokenReturn>(responseFromServer);

Define And Send A JSON Object Array?

May 17, 2010

I'm looking for a way to define and send a JSON object array. I've figured out how to define a single JSON object, turn it into a string and send it, but what about an array of this type? Probably something simple I'm overlooking...

var myColumnSetting = { "ColumnName": name,
"ColumnIndex": index
}
convert it to a string
var myJSONText = JSON.stringify(myColumnSetting, false);

C# - How To Return Json From Action Method With Array Property

Mar 14, 2011

I am trying to return some data as json from an action method.

I have an employee object that looks like this:

public class Employee
{
public int EmployeeID {get; set;}
public string FirstName {get; set;}
public string LastName {get; set;}
//Other irrelevant properties
}

Then I have a view model as follows

public Class EmployeeViewModel
{
public Employee Supervisor{get; set;}
public List<EmployeeViewModel> Employees
}

I need to return a json object that looks exactly like this:

{id: 1, name: John, children: [
{id: 1, name: Joe, children: []},
{id: 1, name: Rob, children: []}
]}

For now I only need to go to the second level as above, returning and supervisor and their staff members beneath them.

How would I go about returning this in my action method(I have the viewModel object hydrated already I just need to return it as json). My problem so far has been that the children property does not get populated.

Javascript - Removing The "d" Object From Web Service Json Output?

I have some javascript code that processes json output from asp.net web services built with framework 2.0. Now I need to support data returned from framework 3.5 web services. My javascript code assumes a list of objects as return value, which works fine in 2.0. However In framework 3.5, the list is wrapped in a "d" object. Is there any way I can remove the "d" wrapper and just return the list?

C# - Deserializing An Object That Is Different Than When It Was Serialized?

Mar 29, 2011

I have an issue with deserializing an object. I get an error 'System.Int32' cannot be converted to type 'System.Decimal'. This object has many child objects and since this object has been serialized, a new version of the object has one or many fields that have been changed from int to decimal and now I can't deserialize the object because it doesn't match my original object.

I have tried using the OnDeserializing method but the context parameter.

Is there a way around this? I've found some examples online but it doesn't really apply to my situation. I would just like to know if there is a way to view my serialized object even if my object has now changed or if there is a way to find out which variable needs to be changed to decimal and how to go about doing it.

I've added your code but I'm not quite sure how to call it from my code. Here's what I've got:

public static Application LoadSnapshot(int appID, int statusID)
{
ApplicationSnapshotCollection AppSnap = new ApplicationSnapshotCollection();
AppSnap.LoadByAppAndSnapshotStatusID(appID, statusID);

[Code]....

How do I go about calling the constructor with the proper parameters in my scenario?

Web Forms :: XML Serialization Of A Class For Storage In The Profile Not Deserializing?

May 13, 2010

I'm trying to store some business objects in a SQLProfileProvider Profile property, however my business objects use public properties, not fields. This means I can't serialize as binary (correct?) so I'm serializing as XML. I've got the basic XML.Serialization attributes on the business objects, basically just XMLRoot and XMLElements with Type properties and an XMLArray attribute for a collection<T>. When I look at the data in the aspnet_Profile table, sure enough, it looks like an XML representation of my BOs:

[Code]....

Additionally, it works fine while the user is logged in.However, if the user logs out and logs back in, the profile property is a new instance of the BO, not what was saved in the profile. What am I missing here?

How To Avoid Clashes With Existing Entity ID's When Deserializing And Importing EF Entities

Feb 11, 2011

I have an ASP.NET 4 web app that is using the Entity Framework to hold, amongst other things, a hierarchical structure of items that is used for features such as navigation.

One of the functions of the application allows the export of a particular branch of the hierarchy tree to XML, generated using a DataContractSerializer. Once exported, the intention is that the XML can then be uploaded to another instance of the same app, deserialized back into EF objects and then added to the data model on the second server.

When I try and import data in this way, I'm finding that I see the following error:

The object could not be added or attached because its EntityReference has an EntityKey property value that does not match the EntityKey for this object.

Taking a closer look at the XML that is generated by the serializer, I can see that the entity key is among the items that has been serialized. Since I'm importing entities that originate from a different database, some of the ID's clash.

What I'd ideally like to be able to do (unless I'm missing something here) is attach the imported entities to an object context and reset the ID's of the objects being imported.

Is there a smart way to do this? Do I simply have to set the ID for each of my imported entities to 0, attach them to the object context and then save changes?

Web Forms :: Browser Output Doesn't Look Like Web Developer Output Using Nested Master Pages And Css Stylesheets

Apr 18, 2010

First off, suggest better ways if you want rather than patch up this code. I am just starting this project and it is first time I have tried to code a web site so anything you suggest is very much welcomed. I have spent the last 2 and 1/2 days trying to find workable answers to this but none I have found and tried seem to fit. If needed I can email screens shots or code. I am trying to construct a website that will have the same main theme throughout as far as the header, navbars sitemap, and footer go. Naturally the content will vary from page to page. I want to use a single master page and css stylesheet for this main theme and I will change the content format as needed per page because each page may vary somewhat.

However, about 15 of the pages will all use the same format for their content and this format will differ from the rest of the site but the format of the main theme will stay the same. So I am trying to create a nested master page to use to format the just the content area for all these pages while retaining the main theme for the header, etc.. I believe I should use a separate css file with the nested master page to handle the formatting of the content areas for these 15 pages. I have code that looks like it works when viewed in web developer but design view but does not work when viewd through a browser (IE, Chrome, Firefox). So far I have the following done in web developer.

If it helps the code and screen shots follow. Master Page called "Parent.master". For all theme throughout site Nested Master Page called "Lab.master". For the 15 like pages Primary stylesheet file for main theme called "StylesheetNew.css" For site theme Secondary stylesheet file to syle the 15 like formatted pages. It is called Labmaster.css Labs.apsx file to use as first of the 15 like pages.
Finally screens shots from web developer and browser. Sorry try as I might I could not capture screenshots and put them into this post. The problem is that web developer shows all the area (many lines high) with gray background and with the XXX text that I want to allocate for content in the 15 pages. Yet all the browser show is one line of text o a white background followed by the footer. It looks like the LabStyleSheet works in Web Developer but not in a browser.

Read An External JSON File Using Json.NET On Page Load?

Dec 29, 2010

I have a text file named gisQuery129.json that is created using Json.NET - [URL] There is an example on how to create a JSON file and I have done that successfully, but I want to read the file on a page load event and add the values to .NET textbox controls for input values in a query. The created file looks like the following:

{
"myData": {
"randomNumber": "129",
"Application": "MyMapApp",
"FeatureId": "ALL",
"Feature": "ALL",
"spatialQuery": "FEATURE_ID= '11111' AND REQ_SEQ_NUM= 1 AND RAND_PARAM= 129 OR FEATURE_ID= '22222' AND REQ_SEQ_NUM= 2 AND RAND_PARAM= 129"
}
}

I want to read the data in the above sample JSON data and then populate my textboxes something like this:

txtRandParam.text = "129"
txtApplication.text = "MyMapApp" and three more text boxes after that.
