Forms Data Controls :: Radio Button List Inside Gridview - Push A Button To Submit The QuestionID

Jul 24, 2010

I have a databound Gridview (with a LINQ datasource). The gridview displays questions from the SQL DB to the user. I've inserted a radio button list into the gridview with 3 horizontal radio buttons with fixed values of 1,2,3 for the user to select. I have a question ID, a tempuserID, and AnswerValue columns set up in the database. It all works nicely.

After the user selects radio buttons, I would like for them to push a button to submit the QuestionID, the associated Radio Button Value (AnswerValue) and their tempUserID into the DB. How do I do this? I'm not sure what to do next and what VB/LINQ code to put in the code behind file in the button click event handler. I'm also not sure on what to use for the tempUserID, can I use the sessionID? I'm using VB and here's my code:

Web Forms :: Button Does Not Execute Command When Clicked

Jan 10, 2010

i have a webpage with a calendar and the days are rendered with events from a sql database and the imagebuttons are generated programmatically. the issue i am having is that when i click on the imagebuttons, nothing happens. i have specified the imagebutton.command and the imagebutton.commandargument and eventually, i want it to load a modal popup but at the moment, for testing, i simply have it redirect me to another page.

the imagebutton commandeventhandler doesnt seem like it is firing. at the moment, it seems to be doing a postback. i also do not want the postback to happen. i simply want to show a modalpopup and databind the details view inside the popup, i know how to do all of that, i just want to know how to

what i need to do to execute the function when the imagebutton is clicked and how i can associate that function with the commandargument of the imagebutton.

you can view the page at [URL]

user: aansari
pass: aansari

(the application is not complete and therefore, lacks functionality in other areas but that wont hurt us in this situation)

C# - Dynamically Adding A Command Button To A GridView?

Jan 19, 2011

I'm having an issue with trying to add a button to my grid. My GridView is first loaded with data in the PageLoad event.

I'm then taking the data in the first cell of each row, and creating a button that will link to a URL. To get the URL, I have to run a query with the data in the first cell as a parameter. I was doing this in the RowDataBound event at first, but hitting that query for every row was making it really slow.

So I decided to add a button that would retrieve the URL only when you clicked the button.

Here's my GridView:

[Code]....

The grid generates fine, the button gets added to the grid for each row. But when I click on it, the RowCommand event doesn't fire, and the page just refreshes.

How To Change Command Button Titles In DetailsView

Feb 11, 2010

I'm using an asp:DetailsView control with auto generated "Edit" and "Insert" buttons.
So far its been working reasonably well.

However the client has asked that the "Update" and "Insert" labels be changed to "Save".

At this point I can see two options:

Trap the mode changes for the view and "find" the controls to modify them as appropriate. Don't auto generate the edit and insert buttons, and instead do all the button logic myself.

Can Make A Dropdown List Act As A Command Button In A Lintview Control

Mar 19, 2011

I have a listview control that collects address among other things. I have a dropdown list for the country that defaults to "United States". For the state/region, I have another dropdown list populated with the states, and a textbox. I want either the state drop down list or the text box to be visible and enables at a time. The default is to have the dropdown list displayed. If the user changes the country, the state dropdown list should only be displayed if the user selects "United States" again. If any other country is selected, the text box should be displayed instead

Forms Data Controls :: Update XML With Textbox And Command Button?

Apr 8, 2010

I'm trying to create a ShoutBox for my site, and for those of you who are not familiar with shoutboxes, they are chat boxes on websites that users can post live messages on, and the other uses will see their message and be able to respond. I didn't find any good ones online, so I started to write my own. I'm doing it with an XML, but I want the user to be able to post messages using a textbox I added (txtMessage) and the button (cmdPostMessage), which should add a new item to the XML file, and all the other uses will receive that message (their xmlDataSource and the DataList will PostBack every second or something like that). It is able to read messages, but not send.I am however facing three problems:

1- I need to find a way for the user's input to be added to the XML.

2- I need to find a way for the current logged-in username to be found, and added to the XML, and also detect if no user is logged in, in which case the user wil receive an alert saying "Please log in to post messages to the ShoutBox" and redirect them to the login page.

Here is the text in the XML

Web Forms :: GridView Update And Delete Command Button Doesn't Trigger

Apr 3, 2010

I have 3 gridviews in one of my web page. I have simplified the system structure in the image below(further description will be stated below the image): As shown in the image above, the web site(presentation layer) will work closely with the Business Logic layer(BLL) and Data Access Layer(DLL). ObjectDataSource control will be the middle man to select, update, insert and delete the data in the gridviews. During Select, returned data from the database at DAL will be stored in a datatable and return to BLL and then the website itself.

The data in the returned datatable will be filetered by type using RowFilter method and stored into the 3 dataviews. Each dataview will act as the datasource for the 3 GridViews respectively, and therefore I specified the datasource programatically instead of setting the datasourceid for each gridview.

dataview1 = New DataView(dtSelectedTable)
dataview1.RowFilter = "Type='1'"
GridView1.DataSource = dataview1
GridView1.DataBind()
dataview2 = New DataView(dtSelectedTable)
dataview2.RowFilter = "Type='2'"
GridView2.DataSource = dataview2
GridView2.DataBind()
dataview3 = New DataView(dtSelectedTable)
dataview3.RowFilter = "Type='3'"
GridView2.DataSource = dataview3
GridView2.DataBind()

However, the Update(command button) and Delete(template field) doesn't work, the RowUpdating and RowDeleting event wasn't trigger when I click on the button, but it works if I set the gridviews' datasourceid to the objectdatasource. I couldn't figure out why, hope that someone who have come across the same problem couldn't provide some guidance.

User Control Command Button Event Doesn't Fire The First Time?

Jan 23, 2011

I am fairly new to the asp.net and experimenting with it to learn the page life cycle. Here is a problem that I have been unable to resolve for past few days.

I have a hosting page (.aspx). Then I have two user controls (.ascx). The page has a place holder control in which it loads the user controls one at a time based on the application flow. First user control is loaded on application start up. It has a "continue" button. Continue button click loads the Second user control that has two buttons - "Back" and "Submit". Obviously the "Back" button should load the first user control again and Submit button should submit the form data. Pretty simple.

The problem is that the command button event handler that I have on the second user control is not firing the first time. (I have one event handler for both buttons). The load event of the user control fires but then it ignores the button click. If I click it again, then it fires. I re-load the controls on the page in every page_load. Here is some relevent code:

AddPlayer.aspx:

[Code]....

The page_Load fires every time but "CommandBtn_Click" doesn't fire after the first click. I have to do it click it again. It doesn't matter which order I click the buttons.

Architecture :: Clicking A Button On A Webform Invokes A Command Line Program

Oct 17, 2010

I'm trying to create a webpage, that on clicking a button on a webform invokes a command line program like

ProcessStartInfo startInfo = new ProcessStartInfo(@"program.exe");
startInfo.Arguments = @"parameters";
Process.Start(startInfo);
morestuff();

The program takes about 3 secs or more to complete it's process running via command prompt. This creates a file that is then read by the next method morestuff(); My problem is that after Process.Start() it moves over to the method morestuff and the file is still not created and throws an error - file does not exist. How do I make sure that the process.start is complete before executing the method morestuff()?
